So many people raged over photoshoped stockphoto of some random girl being their true waifu.

This whole game is just a kickstarter so that CR can not finish making Freelancer again. CR retirement plan
How is it Makabb that you are so invested in opposing SC and always shilling for NMS? If it is not for any pecuniary rewards, I am genuinely curious as how one chooses sides in this?

I would say that it's quite likely that both games turn out to be scheisse, just covered in different wrappings.

Logic is a good argument, when one game is getting released and other one after 4 years, 100+ million dollar investmenets is in alpha phase with new ships to buy being released should atleast put your eyebrow up.

but hell, who needs logic today? give star citizen another 200 million and maybe in 10 years you will have beta

Well, it's more likely that NMS gets released, albeit belatedly, I give you that. But it doesn't explain how you are convinced that it'll be superior product or any good, for that matter. Reeks to me a pretty boring concept, insofar as no base-building involved.

Personally, if you could pre-order NMS for $25 I would probably do that, since I have never had a pretty screensaver, but for 60 bucks?

Disclaimer: I backed SC for $25 when its budget was still 2M. Nowadays I consider it as a lottery ticket.

>Game is a space exploration game.
>Complains about lacking base building.
>:stupid:
You know, I am well aware what it kind of game it is supposed to be. I think it is just mentally challenged to force people play an open world game "the way it is meant to be played".

Murray: We don't have base-building. And the reason is, it would just make people want to stay where they are and not explore.

To me this just sounds that there would be nothing to motivate people to fly around, except that it would be even more boring to stay put since there is nothing to do.

UPDATE 16/06/10: And it came to pass that the new June 2016 ToS has been released with the latest 2.4 “patch” going live. I am working on a blog post for it; but the highlights are:

  1. You can’t sue them – like ever
  2. Under no obligation to deliver anything – like ever. Oh and delivery date and clause removed
  3. No refunds – for any reason – like ever
  4. Can ban your account – for any reason – delete it, and not refund you
  5. They can deliver anything they like, and it doesn’t have to resemble anything promised and which you backed
Here is a handy comparison between the previous Feb 2015 v1.2 and this latest June 2016 version.

In the meantime, if you ever want legal recourse, do NOT download the 2.4 patch and do NOT do ANYTHING on their site and/or services in which you are required to agree to this new ToS.

Someone has to be pretty autistic to waste time on reading EULAs.

Someone has to be pretty autistic to waste time on reading EULAs.

If someone wasn't autistic enough to spot the passages in Windows 10 EULA which grant them unlimited access to your data, some idiots might've actually installed it.

I usually wipe my ass with EULA.
EULA can only be applied to things that are outside of law and since you can't actually sign it, it is usually worth nothing.

Fun fact, by installing w10 you consent to give Microsoft unlimited and unrestricted access to any data on your machine they deem relevant to improving customer experience. Also complete dumps of your computer's memory. It's in the EULA you agreed to.

You also agree that they can alter the software on your machine at any time, including installing new software without asking you or tampering with 3rd party software already on your machine.

Don't tell me you installed a Microsoft product without someone else reading the EULA for you. :P

The good news is, if someone contests it in court, it may be tricky to prove they agreed to the EULA, as w7/w8 machines tend to install w10 without asking the user.

About time - since the Mass Effect retrospective finished I'm missing my weekly lols.

Its kinda bad as he goes on about COD:IW and ME:A that arent the same type of game, there is no need to rub those AAAA since they arent space flight sims.

What I suspect people backed was a modern take on Wing Commander+Privateer, that is a arcadish space combat flight sim were there was SQ42 that was the Wing Commander and then it became "open world" like Privateer, rubbing in "look at those AAA that are comming out costing 1/3 of SC" doesnt really help because they arent the same, I dont give a fuck at Bioware EA following the herd or COD having further run out of ideas now going even further into the future and I doubt many SC backers give a shit about those either, that wasnt what they backed.

If he wants to point out AAA games come out at a faster pacing thats fine, if he wants to point out that ME:A is going to come out despite a turbulent development cycle thats fine too but he is missing the point, CR cannot in project management as its plain to see, pointing out ME:A is comming out its obvious since DA:O also had a turbulent and long development cycle until EA "ELEVATED" Bioware and put the project on track and on a scheduled, publishers like EA and Ubisoft have better management since they have oversight over projects, Chris is his own boss and he is not accountable.

At this point only fanboys believe that Chris isnt someone that can be left without supervision but that doesnt need to be reiterated, only thing he needed to say is even Chris Roberts knows how in deep shit is SC and is doing damage control over the project, question is if he can actually pull it off or will sink back to his old self.

As much people can be disappointed with E:D at least it come out playable, if he wants to compare then compare SC with E:D, fact is there was no way for SC to live up to the unrealistic expectations and what doomed it was the driving force behind unrealistic expectations was Chris himself.

Yeah, I have no idea why Mass Effect and COD are there. NMS, well, that's at least understandable but the rest? Either I missed something, or Smart got too carried away with the hyperbole.
