Saw the racing module footage, went to the Codex to make a Superman 64 joke... looks like I was beaten, twice. I must say, I am incredibly unimpressed with the racing module. At least it is just a minigame, hopefully the core game is good, or I fear we have another Destiny on our hands.

Heh, looks like I can turn in a profit from selling my ships. Maybe I should do that, since I am honestly getting rather worried about the game. Too ambitious for its own good. I would rather have a few well executed portions than a dozen half assed aspects.

Better get in now before the bubble bursts!

Right now, people are still paying on the (far too optimistic in my not-at-all-humble opinion) hope that the game will be the best thing since sliced bread. Once the game comes closer to release and people realize it does not ship with blackjack and hookers, those virtual spaceship values will plummet. A lot of my bile towards the hundreds of dollars virtual ships stems from the fact that RSI are better off not releasing the game at this point. The longer they delay with new and silly features, the more they can milk the virtual ships market. Once the game is out, their license to print money expires.

Do you realize that all of those ships will be worthless when game will be released, due to fact that you can get any of those ships in game just playing ?

Also most of stretch goals they present are very realistic or even should i say very small in therms of content. Usually it's just new system which for space game isn't that much of a problem. I mean most of stretch goals are 1mln+ and for example for 2mln initially they would create 12 squadron 42 missions.
Also i don't think people expect best thing ever since slice of bread. I think they simply expect good game and they expect AAA game like quality from this game which IMO they will deliver.
Also most of people want the most Squadron 42 because that was main reason behind crowdfunding. Persistent universe on other hand was 6mln goal.

In recent top gear like commercial for example they used motion capture studio which was fully funded from strechgoal and quality of animations and performance definitely is above most of AAA games.
IMo most of people just expect to finally play good space sim game.

The ships are worthless now. Saps just haven't caught up. All the more reason to sell now while the market exists.
:troll:

Some say that spending backer money on a video parody to make them by more virtual ships is the oldest scam ...in the world!

Imo that is just quite awesome tie of lore and as you said money making scam. They will probably use it in game. So for example if you will go to origin dealer you will have videos of origin ships playing in background or you can watch each ship before you buy in commercial.

Point of Star Citizent is also that this won't be indie game. This will be full AAA game. There is a reason why they put so much time and money in creation of in game content like full interiors of ships along with toilets. Those adds will fit right into lore and they will/are amazing tools to promote game.

I've put up my Aurora MR and Arena Commander pass for sale, if you interested:
You can buy it here for $30: http://www.reddit.com/r/Starcitizen...u/star_hangar_the_place_to_buy_or_sell_ships/ (search the Non-LTI ships section/Aurora MR piece), or you can buy it from me directly, for $25.

Just for comparison, if you buy these from RSI, they cost $35.

Edit: Wow, this went quickly. 3 buyers replied in a short time. I regret not asking a few dollars more. :takemymoney:

What the game looks like with a proper FOV, the ship speed increase, recent upgrades to weapon sounds/velocity/graphics, thruster sounds, and a handful of other things.

I hate the computer voices and will be muting them if they're not moddable. It's tough to beat Aura. https://soundcloud.com/ccpgames/eve-online-aura-warping-to?in=ccpgames/sets/aura

Commence more whinging about pledge ships. I'm still trying to decide how to spend the $3,040.62 in profit I still have left over from scalping that Idris and Vanduul Fighter. My computer already runs just about every game on the planet on ultra, and I'm a man of simple tastes... perhaps a hundred 100-count display boxes of Slim Jims?

Looks much better. Main concerns is still gimped joystick support. That looks wonderful, but if it prioritizes keyboard+mouse over joystick, that's bullshit. Frankly, I don't think a flight sim should be "input agnostic", there should be tangible benefits to having a hotas setup, and if that's not how it ends up as it nears release, I'm just not interested.

Also, any word on the scope of the game? I feel it's probably not going to be Elite or No Man's Sky (lol) in scope, but what is the galaxy supposed to be like?

This looks very good (although my rig is crying just by watching this), but what I'm concerned about (and the reason I sold my account) is that what about everything else. Flight model is good, controls look good (except for the adventage of mouse aiming bullshit), but that FPS boarding mode, emphasis on stupid stretchgoals like languages and stuff is what concernes me. Anyway, if it turns out good, I will buy it when it comes out (probably 2015 Q4 I assume), but Elite is right around the corner and it looks more promising with its solid scope, without any overpromising.

Significant benefits for HOTAS users over mouse and keyboard with few or no disadvantages just isn't going to happen, so you might as well save yourself the trouble and eject now. As much as I'd like for HOTAS to be the best and most viable control method, I do think people have a fair point when they complain that they shouldn't have to buy two hundred dollars' worth of peripherals and a special cockpit setup in order to be fully competitive. That said, the apparent mouse supremacy and current lack of controller agnosticity of any kind isn't acceptable either, and is my biggest complaint about the game currently. I can deal with HOTAS supremacy or controller agnosticity, but not with mouse supremacy.

You've been squatting like a vulture in this thread for months Brofisting everyone who shits on the game or busts my balls, and you don't even know fundamental details of how the game's being developed?

The goal is over 100 (115+ at this point) detailed star systems, each with its own theme and backstory, numerous points of interest including typically one or more landable planets, possibly one or more landable moons, landable space stations, pirate bases, asteroid belts, derelict ships (the Bengal Carriers in lawless space must be found, fought over, repaired, claimed, and defended from other jealous organizations, for example), wormholes, etc. Some systems will be part of relatively safe space featuring space police to help protect crybabies from PvP, others will be pirate systems or frontier systems with no law/anarchy, others will be alien systems including aliens hostile to all of humanity (mainly the Vanduul), still others will be completely undiscovered (by anyone) and available for some player to discover the jump point data for by successfully finding and navigating the relevant wormhole.

Now, some systems will no doubt be more dense than others, especially in core sectors, and I'm not sure how many of these will genuinely be complete come release. We'll see.

That simpit is for peasants. The Obutto R3volution is where it's at:

Although truly monocled individuals build their simpits custom, complete with USB-customized military surplus fighter jet control grip assembly (i.e. a real F-16 joystick column) and custom wood- and metalworking.

But that's the biggest misconception about it. Everybody (even you guys) talk about HOTAS as if that is the only solution when it comes to joysticks. Nobody has to buy a 200 dollars HOTAS and a cockpit setup, but they could get a simple joystick for 40 bucks and that is as good as anything for this games. Not as comfortable as a HOTAS, sure, but it has the axis and throttle control it needs.

Don't talk like buying a HOTAS is the only way to play with joysticks, instead of a mouse. HOTAS is the high end alternative. Average Joe could buy a simple joystick.

Average Joe could buy a simple joystick, but there's a world of difference between a joystick and a proper HOTAS.

Someone with a proper HOTAS will have an advantage over someone who's using a cheap and imprecise joystick with few buttons and advanced functions, no throttle, and no pedals. If the idea is to be competitive (and that is the main issue), than a standard joystick doesn't measure up.

I disagree. I used a HOTAS and now I use a simple Logitech Cyborg Evo. Believe me, its precision is perfect after 10 years, and it is competitive in a game like Star Citizen. The only adventage a HOTAS might have is the use of rudder pedals, otherway an experienced joystick user has no disadventage over HOTAS in a game like Star Citizen. Because its combat system is just not that complex. In a real flight sim, like the DCS series HOTAS has adventage because you have to manage your plane in a more complex manner, managing speed is more important, have to use flaps, airbrake, selecting radar modes, attack modes, missiles etc. For that, a HOTAS is important. Star Citizen, although the ships are quite detailed, won't have that level of complexity.

Of course when I say "simple joystick", I am not talking about a 10 dollar Genius joystick which brakes after a week, but the Saitek Cyborg Evo I mentioned above is perfect for the job.

Why would I lie to you? The Saitek Cyborg Evo is a very well made joystick, with good sensors and a centering spring. I admit I wasn't playing with it non stop, but I've put a thousand hours into it.

I figured the scope was expansive, but hadn't been keeping up on the details as much as I'm concerned with the core gameplay, which is why it was put in as an afterthought.

And I'm all for HOTAS supremacy. It's not like not having it makes the game impossible to play, but a superior input method should lead to superior results.

I don't think you're lying per se; I merely think your opinions are subjective, and of a sort I've encountered before. For example, many people will claim that a cheap $5 foam mouse pad and $15 Microsoft mouse are perfectly adequate for first-person shooters. When I first started seriously playing competitive arena and team-based shooters myself a few years back, I too was using a regular old mousepad and mouse. After about 40-50 hours of play, I decided to switch to a nice configurable optical mouse, low-friction tape for the mouse feet, DPI (sensitivity) toggle, and a larger gaming-specific pad with a semi-hard surface. It made an absolutely tremendous difference in-game, and even just for surfing the web now I love it. It glides like an air hockey puck and is extremely precise.

Some people simply aren't discerning enough to notice the difference and/or don't care when they use an inferior piece of equipment. I gather the Cyborg Evo is quite good for its price range (dirt cheap), and although I don't own it, I do own several good-for-the-price-range cheaper joysticks, such as the Thrustmaster T-Flight HOTAS X. The difference between any cheaper joystick I've ever tried and a CH Products FighterStick is absolutely immense. It's a joke to think that any $30 stick is as sensitive or as rugged, that the programming and calibration software and drivers are as good or as versatile, or that you don't need or want the much more versatile array of HATs/buttons offered by the FighterStick. Nevermind the feel of it. I've switched from a cheaper joystick to it in the midst of playing a sim before, and the difference is enormous.

If this seems insulting, well, too bad. A $30 Saitek stick for which half the budget went to making it look like a cool cartoon robot penis is objectively inferior to a proper piece of kit. I can use a branch from the backyard to play billiards with also, or a cheap $10 cue that performs okay, but a more expensive, but well-built and precisely balanced cue is superior.

And I'm all for HOTAS supremacy. It's not like not having it makes the game impossible to play, but a superior input method should lead to superior results.

Interesting. In you opinion, it's all right for someone to buy an advantage via thousands of dollars spent on top-of-the-line HOTAS, tablet PC HUDs/MFDs, a simpit, an ultra-widescreen and/or multiple monitors, headtracking gear, etc., but a $200 pledge ship (the actual advantage of which, in the grand scheme of things, is highly debatable) for a crowdfunded game is absolutely intolerable to you?

Look, I have money to spare to spend on toys too, and in many ways tend to agree with you, but that's just some bullshit.

I think you know the difference. Input mechanism, monitors, etc., are independent of the game. Paying for an advantage in the game is completely different. For one, it effectively increases the cost of the game, which is already quite high. Second - the main issue with the selling of ships that I and others have isn't the HUR DUR ADVANTAGE, but rather the ponzi scheme appearance of their fundraising activities.
