Yes. Good game. Could be better. I'm hoping the sequel deserves its acclaim. But even if it doesn't, this series is already easily more fun and charming to me than those Infamous games the studio made later. I don't know if I will bother with that samurai game from last year.
Good level design and story, excellent art direction and soundtrack. I had some problems with the map, which is not the best one, while you are trying to navigate and find your way through. We've got only lightsaber and force abilities, but it's more than enough. I really liked random conversations between stormtroopers, which reminded me of No One Lives Forever. Now I feel an urge to replay Jedi Outcast and Academy.
I just love the game's style and overall visuals. This is probably my 4th playthrough but I have never actually played through the elven apprenticeship.
I have finally finished Gothic 2 "completely", as before I have only memories of harbor city and some dumb dragons
My memories were actually correct, as after harbor city it is all not as interesting, although NOTR is ok.
but the slope is very steep and only on "find 23 orc commander rings" my mind broke I went into hysterical laughter and sailed my ship towards final boss, only to find the classical rpg endgame boring shitdungon with 4 buttons (but architecture is very nice, felt like walking into temple of bhaal in first, i mean third, person)
on the power of 2.5 chapters out of 6 alone I rate game killerraptors out of miltens
Due to other chapters I rate it somewhat lower, but the slope is very steep, it's not like game becomes VERY bad (but dragons are kinda bad). As chapters went and more op shit spawned everywhere I began to find narrative and world dumber as nobody cared much "there are no dragons in mines prove me wrong"-Hagen, since there is so much microreactivity around I'd expect at least some fire mage-on-seeker or paladin-on-orc action honestly, and a bit more fear and dissent everywhere (similar to DAO). and was it necessary to change lore like 3-faced diety where you swear in G1 "until i go to Beliar" into 1 good 1 balance 1 bad diety?
But on the basis of what happens with series NEXT, I rate 8/10. I liked Gothic 1 more.
the PB hoboing is unparalleled, but there is another 2/3 of the game that is mostly killing a lot of enemies after you are already passed hobo stage and it is very repetetive.
also PBs use of subdued colors and their mastery over evenings and nights always amazed me.
Just always play a mage. I never played as paladin or tried pickpocketing/dex and I wish I played mage. why are not all spells from G1 are in G2??
kill every enemy and do every "find my purse/sword/meatbug" quest PL took me more than ~60 hours. fucking huege game.
The final mission for the brotherhood of steel is the same as fo3, walk behind the giant robot until it makes a hole in the ground so you can invade the institute. Its as boring as it sounds, worse of it all. I had to do a bunch of fetch quest to repair the giant robot.
DS Black Sigill - Blade of The Exiled - best (?) ending scene
Bugs and broken autistic random encounter rates didnt stop me, i finished this game
Finished just before 2021.
Sometimes it was a chore, mostly when i got confused in dungeons and random encounters slowly but surely chipped my team until game over. Bugs started to be more common in the late game but it only became problematic in the last dungeon (sometimes battle menu freezed but enemies still could attack you), it was the only moment when i used flashcard cheat to disable random encounters, frozen battles became too common.
Some events are bugged, for example during one quest if you talked to certain npc you became stuck forever in one room.
Even with those game breaking random encounter rates i still enjoyed my time with this game, even more because this game was heavily influenced by Chrono Trigger (artstyle and battle system) and i loved Chrono Trigger. Soundtrack was also good, my favourite track was this
Game has few exploits (late game allows you to get basically infinite money, Aurora and Nephi late game combo that drains enemy HP and MP is broken as fuck also Nephi can transfer SP equally between whole team so 3rd party member also doesnt need SP potions) but those destroy balance late game (at least those that i know)
I tried to find rom hacks that patched encounter rates and bugs, sadly even if those patches existed links became dead years ago.
Hp bloat squad, here to slog your game. Also, fuck elite specters.
Blabla died like a bitch but slogged the mission with his mind control crap.
Xcom 2 with the expansion and DLC is anime as fuck, doesn't fit the style.
3/5, I didn't enjoy this game. It deviated too much from the original formula and added a bunch of crap. Also, they removed a lot of stuff from the previous game (sure, it wasn't as developed but why remove it and not improve it?).
Is phoenix point worth getting into or is it crap? I almost forgot the game keeps crashing (cause mods). This was hell.
Bunny Must Die! Chelsea and the 7 Devils
Appears to be not available through legal means anymore. Metroidvania with main weapons acting like Castlevania's secondary ones (smash a container -> find a weapon -> switch to using the new one). Fancy attack animations but lots of focus is on platforming and the jumping behavior is annoying.
Castle in the Darkness
Good, lengthy and hard 'vania. Oddly enough, most of the challenge comes from platforming parts (and normal mobs interrupting it), which get progressively more demanding, and the frequent boss fights instead are relatively easy to beat, with rather forgiving patterns. Also good and responsive controls.
Lots of screenshots:
^One confusing thing is that you find this item relatively late and until then you keep wondering whether you missed it somewhere.
Dandara
You move by aiming where to shoot yourself to and sticking to certain types of surfaces. Has some gotcha situations with damaging obstacles appearing on your path if you try to speed through it. The mouse controls seem unwieldy/unintuitive but I didn't bother trying to get used to them.
http://distortedtravesty.blogspot.com/p/spoiler-warning-this-page-contains.html
Nice 'vania with masochistic platforming, and with most areas being crossover worlds where you get to use abilities of protagonists of the games it's copying (and after beating them you get to use them in the hub world). Lots of collectible powerups that require effort or exploration to get, albeit most of them are of "+1 to max something" variety. Also overflowing with humor attempts and self-references, but that and the plot can be safely ignored for the most part (just look out for mentions of new goals/destinations after you complete the current ones). Has two switchable protagonists, each with different sets of plot-unlockable powers. The nice thing about the difficulty is that figuring out how to get through the obstacles is easy, so it always feels like the finish line is within your reach and the failures are primarily from timing/dodging failures and misclicks.
Lots of screenshots:
^Disappointingly, the map is mostly only useful for tracking how many collectibles are left in a given area, as it's not used for finding new/hidden areas to explore, and many dungeons don't get any map. Even one dungeon that specifically gets a map because it's a multiple-room maze doesn't benefit from it because of many one-way passages and doorways that take you to different parts of the dungeon, with neither of them being marked in any way on the map.
https://linkronny.itch.io/forzo-gravity
Puzzle platformer that starts easy with figuring out how to rotate levels/gravity to get to the exit and later introduces timed obstacles, dodge-falling and advancing-wall-of-doom speedrunning.
http://www.foxeye.squares.net/product/holdover/index.htm
Download link at the top. Some weird Japanese drowning fetish 'vania with nonetheless cool underwater platforming that leaves little room for mistakes. Has a crude shmup sequence near the end.
https://flipswitchx.itch.io/littlewalker
Relaxing but fast-paced platformer where most of the time you can't stop running and have to bounce off of all sorts of things for various mobility boosts.
Project Black Sun
Pretty 'vania with bad controls and design decisions, and with various gotcha traps that force you to backtrack a lot.
https://return-of-egypt.en.uptodown.com/windows
Kung-fu Mosesvania. Also starring: kung-fu Usain Bolt skeletons and other martial arts masters. Entirely in moonspeak. Blocking missiles with 360-degree air spin attacks feels quite satisfying. I didn't get far though because I had an issue with the game sometimes not registering key presses and it leading to failed platforming and/or getting hit too much.
Shaman King: Master of Spirits (GBA)
Castlevania wannabe with long, flat-ish corridors for areas.
The Battle of Olympus (NES)
Lots of backtracking in search of NPCs to trigger story stuff, with loads of NPCs who just give hints as to possible things to be found in specific areas, and loads of doors and passages with arbitrary connections (e.g. a random house that takes you to another region of Greece). The combat is ok, if grindy.
^Most openings in the background in the forest are passages
https://origamihero.itch.io/treasure-hunter-man
Has a sequel that appears to be an overall more polished game, but I haven't played it yet. Platforming feels similar to other games made in MF.
https://lazycow.itch.io/wolfling
Hard platformer with the protagonist that involuntarily changes shape when exposed to moonlight, and both the wolf and the human shape have different abilities/mobility.
______________
In-dev demos: https://nick64.itch.io/aurascope
Sonic-like except you're carrying around magic cubes to build easy-mode platforms with to get into some areas and bypass some platforming parts.
https://papadar.itch.io/eatvolve
Roguelite about eating everything in sight to gain new abilities and not to die from hunger (which occurs rather quickly).
https://jackbreen-hg.itch.io/gigasword
Revolves around the protagonist using an oversized sword that heavily restricts his mobility and him having to find ways of getting it through the platforming parts.
https://gamejolt.com/games/ZoriasGame/448765
Big tiddy orc gf 'vania. Fun combat and smooth controls. At least in the demo, going down the 45 degree slopes means you can't go back up to finish exploring skipped areas, so take that into account if you decide to give it a try. Map not implemented yet.
https://rilem.itch.io/ducksoup-dungeon
Simple roguelite platformer with unlockable warpig character that has an overpowered rolling attack which both makes him invulnerable for its duration and can be chained indefinitely.
https://eevee.itch.io/neon-phase
Single area platformer/walking sim with a few puzzles and lots of space cats. Related to Star Anise Chronicles mentioned below.
https://damongreenhalgh.itch.io/nami
Short, somewhat buggy platformer with wall jumping and bouncy rafts you slide around to bypass underwater spikes.

Shy platformers that didn't want me to take screenshots of them: https://andromeda-project.itch.io/andromeda - vaporware https://gamejolt.com/games/the-curse-of-issyos/119194 - Castlevania but in Greece https://backterria.itch.io/dead-knight - short tech demo of a vaporware roguelite (the roguelite part is missing) https://ricpau.itch.io/gunborg - demo of an in-development run-and-gun platformer; smooth controls http://www.remar.se/daniel/herocore.php - similar atmosphere as in Void Pyramid/Ramble Planet except it's a bullet hell shooter 'vania; different difficulty levels are different scenarios (and the "hell" part is more noticeable on higher difficulties) https://leafxel.itch.io/hojiya - demo of some casual-difficulty game with weird plot and cumbersome taking of selfies with everything you see
Shiro by Game Dynasty - platformer with aggressive autosaving (you respawn with no consequences at the nearest safe piece of floor) and focus on chain-jumping through spikey rooms
Wildfire by Sneaky Bastards - focus on replaying levels to meet speedrunning goals and complete bonus objectives (which didn't feel entertaining)
