I'm enjoying it so far but if you're one of those who are tired of Quake community's penchant for gigantic maps and extravagant architecture over tight gameplay, I'd stay well away. I'm only few maps in but these might be some of the most excessive examples of that tendency yet. But the maps are really a joy to explore and you're never sure what's coming next. The map I'm on right now starts you on a prison island which you escape via boat and then it has you sailing thru fog for a while, encountering a pirate ship and a haunted derelict, then arriving on another island with a looming cliffside fortification, deserted church and graveyard on top and huge network of dungeons and tunnels bellow its surface.
(I removed the HUD bc yes, you play as le animu gurl)

If this means I'll have to kill all those stupid horsemen again, I'll get very angry, because the bossfights are by far the shittiest part of this game.
I for one enjoyed them. Fast, ultra-violent, with magic arrows and spells flying everywhere. Looked like real fights to death and not the usual gimmicky patterned bosses.
The end boss was however far to easy, beat it first try without thinking about it.
