Playing Tom Clancy's The Sum of All Fears (2002), this is so much like a Rainbow Six mod for Ghost Recon 1 than anything else tbh, it even uses GR1's engine. Even if it's inferior to both the earlier Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon games, it's still a blast of a tactical FPS to play.
You blurb about the game made me really want to play it (Had only ever played the demo back in the day) and I actually had a copy of it on my shelf, so I booted it up and you're spot on. Really enjoyable game and scratched that tactical FPS itch quite nicely. Very nice looking game too, for it's age, I regret a little bit playing it in widescreen though and not glorious 4:3.

Black Souls. One of the greatest RPG franchises ever created. A stellar achievement in the roleplaying genre. The true spiritual successor to Planescape: Torment, and the only games that deserve to be called "soulslike".

Finished Unavowed, solid point-and-click adventure. Liked the story and most of the characters. The puzzles are on the easier side, so if you're looking for a puzzler than this is not the game to go for. But nice art and soundtrack, perfect to relax in the evening after work.

Gets plus-points for letting you pick your character name. Here is my guy talking to mister Wang.

After flying straightforward WW2 plane in DCS, I'm trying my hand at more complex jet fighters.

Here's my third tentative to start the engine :

After half an hour tries I got it and lo and behold :

After that landing was but a breeze :

Seriously, this is complex. I understand why fighter pilots are so fit, just to wrap my head around engine start I must have lost 1 kg.

Two fighters jets crashed into each other during training yesterday in France, so it is even hard for real pilots. Sadly they lost much more than 1 kg.

Yeah, and still safety has made giant leaps since the 50s and 60s where non-combat loss rate of over 30% were not uncommon for fast jets. Dangerous job.
