I bought this during the last Steam sales but haven't got a chance to play it yet. What's the verdict?

I hear that Deponia has annoying main character, is that true? He does like your regular douche who throws one liners.

Pinging Agassi :M

He's annoying, but he's supposed to be. I normally hate that kind of protagonists, but in Deponia that actually somehow works as part of the game's concept and charm. I've even grown attached to the world and characters, and it feels kinda sad to be playing the last part of the trilogy.

Zons think they can salvage a draw from this game.

Obviously they've not met Crispy.

Arkay the Rapist of Skyrim killed two in that match alone. One woman was dragged back to the kitchen when a dorf hits her on the knee.

Ball went out of bounds, Pollack Ace, Konjad, Purger of Avatars picked it up and grinned like a sliced potato.

We begin the game shipwrecked on a beach. A spanish ship may be seen on the horizon. Our ship is in shambles, so let's not dwell too much on this and explore the island.

We see a seemingly feminine figure shooting an arrow at a wooden totem, then walking away before we can get close.

UQdZzh.jpg

At least she seems friendly.

GfNAas.jpg

Unlike this fella here. He's running towards me and making a scary breathing sound, so he gets an arrow to the throat.

1SGnrT.jpg

A buddy of his. Sometimes arrows bounce off their armor, so it's better to do as the girl said and sneak up on them.

cLkKLJ.jpg

And another one (already dead), with what seems to be a fort on the background.

qiODNu.jpg

I better do what he says or I'll never become the Avatar.

3xNxch.jpg

There are others like this one, all making horrified expressions. I'm sure it's nothing to get worried about.

Pca3Uw.jpg

I hope the soldeirs had protection against such hazards :balance:

v5iFnY.jpg

Anyway, I found a half-buried bell on the ground near that ash figure. Let's attach it to the post.

ukwQUX.jpg

Ringing the bell seems to make...something happen. Well, other than the world turning grey, that is.

JUV5R7.jpg

Exploring the village again, I meet this chap. He seems friendly, but according to him I'm the one who looks like a creepy ghost. I'd be concerned about that, but my HP meter says I'm a hundred points away from that.

Metal Gear?

The results of my investigations of the fort.

ZVifkw.jpg

Dead people. For real this time, not undead. According to the epitaphs, they died of conflicts with spaniards or sickness. They aren't very interesting.

2fDWh1.jpg

...except for this one. Let's ring that bell and come back.

k1ARYU.jpg

Bingo.

zhpojK.jpg

He says his grave was profaned by a demon, who grabbed his skull and ran off. Since old muskets and a wooden shortbow are perfect weapons to use against demons, we agree to get it back for him so he can finally rest.

5JvFgc.jpg

Two spaniards at once...that might be more than I can chew, so I avoid them. They can have either a musket or a bow (which they sometimes drop), and a melee attack which is apparently very strong. Even though I can recover most of my arrows, I better pay attention to my ammo.

gg6tQM.jpg

Another totem. We should go back and ring the bell again.

PbnvXm.jpg

Since we're back in the fort, let's buy a pistol. Turns out our character is VERY honorable, and we can't actually steal any of the items, even though the merchant is probably a ghost as well.

PJiYE7.jpg

My inventory.

Hek5xY.jpg

While walking back to the totem, I found a ghost who wanted to know the way back to the fort. We guide him there, but he doesn't know much. According to him, the girl in red "used to haunt the woods". Does that mean they saw her as a ghost, even while they were still alive? Why do I see her as a living person then, if they see me as a ghost? Mystary.

nziifT.jpg

Let's go back to the totem, this time in the dark world...here it is. It takes a while to find it because despite the compass, you can't see more than a few meters ahead. I have to stay on the road and pay attention to landmarks, like a big rock. If you're wondering, there's a map but it doesn't show where you currently are, only the entire area.

Anyway, let's touch it.

pqaRjV.jpg

Skellingtons! Those guys show up on the dark world, but I only killed two of them until now, and on separate encounters. No matter. As the hero of this story, I shall vanquish those monst-

Ah! Onii-chan, it hurts!

Edge of Space. Basically Terraria in space, but I didn't play much yet. I already fell to my death three times despite the starting equipment including a jetpack. :M

Betrayer is pretty solid. I stopped playing after a couple hours to wait for the full game, because I want to enjoy it.

It's funny that you made the color so dark and overcast, Clockwork Knight. I'm guessing you're European.

Betrayer is on my watch list. I long for some lonely trekking since I fell in love with STALKER and this looks like it could be something similar.

Well, at least they don't try to rape you like in Dragon Age.

Both the Witcher and Witcher 2 have this weird grainy look to it at times that's pretty annoying. That first pic is a pretty good example when you look at her elbow.

Southern brazilian actually, though weather here is often like that instead of like the rest of the country, yes.

While that may have influenced my taste, I was trying to keep the intended dreary atmosphere, so I chose a middleground between SUPERHAPPY FULL SATURATION and the original black-and-white-and-red. Since the "dark world" is still permanently B&W, I don't think I lose much of the original atmosphere.

By the way, you can see how the first screenshot it's a little too dark, the trees make black holes instead of shadows. I adjusted it after that.

I wish I still had a 4:3. It's way better for gaming--keeps everything in the center of your vision, out of the peripheral.
