My decision to shitlist balmorar is already paying off it seems.

As it happens I've just started playing the game myself so I decided to take some shots of my own for comparison in atmosphere and if mge with whatever mods you are using changes the look much. My version is completely vanilla straight out of the box.

I don't think I will be installing MGE or any mods.

, though I'd still recommend going with MGE, if only for compatibility reasons. You don't need to use distant land and new water shaders (which are only worth it in the beta, the latest stable version still looks worse than vanilla), although tweaking it the way my MGE is configured shouldn't hurt the immersion. I'd also consider forcing some anisotropic and SSAO.

Still, I've always loved vanilla's water, especially in the rain (even though it's faked reflection) and, as evident from my lack of texture and model replacers, I do appreciate vanilla art direction (unlike some plebes ITT).


One more thing - no matter how vanilla you want it, do instal Morrowind Code Patch. It's not modding the game, it's preventing the game from shitting all over itself.
