Half Life has great physics and puzzles, but the trial and error was too preeminent. To me T&E is a lazy or meager game design mechanic, only in a few games is a well thought out feature, like in Souls games(but after 5 titles is getting repetitive).

You might want to change the field of view to around 100 for a 16:10 resolution with the command default_fov x, as GoldSource cuts off a bit of the top and bottom of the screen when using wide-screen resolutions. The command can be placed in autoexec.cfg to keep the changed FOV. The best value might be a few degrees above or below 100; it's best to compare it with how much of a weapon model is visible at 90 degrees (the default) in a 4:3 resolution.

If you did that and it's just the idle animation that lowered the weapon as you took the screenshot, excuse my presumption.

Also, if you have a Creative sound card with access to ALchemy or some other way of restorting EAX or A3D, it's best to play one of the versions from before 2013, as Valve removed hardware sound completely from GoldSource that year, when it was ported to Linux.

Well, I'm using the 16-10 version of the Resolution Patch with 1440x900 resolution with a default_fov 100.39487232.
It looks good to me, and most important: no motion sickness.

Yes, it's an old CD version, but I only have a Asus Xonar D2X sound card.
Perfect sound is not that important for me in a FPS, and I get directional sound anyway.
However for Thief: The Dark Project I may have to reconsider...

Well, sorry about bothering you, then. It looked like it might be 90 degrees.

I actually can't get EAX to work in The Dark Project with ALchemy for some reason, but it seems like those fan patches offer adequate 3D sound based on OpenAL.

It's ironic that the best version of this :obviously: game is on a console. It's one of my favourite games of all time - an excellent game that rewards patience and paying attention to your surroundings. This version is very atmospheric and has a great soundtrack to boot. It was even released in the west by Konami, but the developer was Arsys.

They just don't make 'em like this anymore.

Warhammer: The End Times Vermintide - Stromdorf DLC

Severely lacking in atmosphere compared the Drachenfels levels, though also a bit better balanced for solo play. Unfortunately you're paying five pounds for what is effectively a slightly sunnier and more varied outdoor map, and a cut-price copypasta of the Ubersreik environments. On the upside there is a cool boss fight at the end. Definitely one for Warhammer addicts alone.

Light Bringer (alternative title - Dungeon Magic). If you liked King of the Dragons and D&D from Capcom this will be right up your alley. Four characters to choose, non linear maps that you can visit in a way you prefer to reach the end goal, simple expierence gathering and lots of enemies to fight with. Great pixel art all around.

My Pac-Man clone of choice since ~1990 :salute: Sadly the devs went off the deep end and turned our yellow hero into a furry abomination in the full game.
