A few moments in The Legend of Zelda: The Missing Link impressed me with their cleverness, outside the box thinking that Nintendo would never dare implement. My brother and I abused quicksaves on the last boss. Couldn't have beaten it in reasonable time even with milk from the cow. The designer just showing off at that point, wanting it to be hardcore.

Quite the contrast compared to how it's all started.

And thus the journey ends.

In terms of encounter design and stuff it's far from being the best Quake mod i have played. Plenty of moments i would describe as tedious. Neither it's the most prettiest i have played.
The sheer level of ambition is impressive however. Majority of levels are so big they feel almost like an open world with plenty of places to explore and routes to find. Plenty of memorable setpieces too.
'Tis was a very long journey. Glad i took it.

Yes. The vast majority of pictures I used come from the FRUA archives, which includes an enormous catalogue of art uploaded from decades of D&D games and made available.
