I agree that it would be nice to get it with a discount if you already own the base game, but then again it's not uncommon to reduce the prices over time, which is why I don't feel they are cheating anyone out of their money here.

It was the 1M funding bonus goal. But it was originally supposed to be in the original game. Then during the kickstarter campaign (or just after, not sure) they said they'd release Berlin as standalone instead. Backers would still get it for free though, because it was part of their rewards.

Usually the base game gets a discount and the dlc is the same price for everyone. You could argue that's what's happening here, but that is a steep discount.

Steep? It's a $10 difference. The price for EU IV recently dropped $30 overnight (and back again). We frequently see much greater price variations happening with absolutely no warning during sales and with bundles, so I'm not sure what the problem is with a $10 drop that's broadcast well in advance. That's actually better than the norm.

It seems fairly clear that HBS played fast and loose with their kickstarter promises; I don't understand all the butthurt on this thread defending them on this, they morphed a stretch goal that agreed to deliver Berlin with the main game into a revenue enhancing DLC.

Their design incompetence is also impressive: to not bother with save anywhere from the get go betrays a fundamental lack of understanding of PC games (perhaps excused by their background in mobile platforms).

However, what they delivered in DMS was fun and good for what it was, so I can't really knock them too much. I'm not sure however that I will be a day one buyer for Dragonfall; after DMS, I think I'm going to wait to see what the general opinion is before spending money on it - fool me once shame on you, fool me twice etc.

Their DRM stance, unclear deal with Microsoft, giving up on introducing a save system and axing the stealth skill are to be criticized but in this case in particular the backers are going to get a campaign of the same size or even bigger than DMS for free. I watched their campaign since the beginning and I was very aware since day one that Berlin wouldn't be available for non-backers for free.

They severely overestimated what they'd be able to accomplish with the money they'd be getting. Turns out the stretch goal money couldn't cover the costs of making and designing content for an entirely new city. In fact it didn't even cover DMS.

15 euro seems a bit much when the base game is 18 euro. Then again, if its better than the original, I really don't have a problem with paying that much.

No the DRM situation was not crystal clear during the Kickstarter. They said DRM free and did not deliver until almost a year later when they got so much flak for it they had no choice. Do you work for HBS or something?
No, I'm a kickstarter backer and I got exactly what I paid for. If you steambuyfags didn't get the same thing, that is none of my concern. :smug:

Yeah, if sales had been worse than they were, they wouldn't even have the option to double its scope to make it as large as DMS. :M

I will gladly pay 15 euro for another campaign of equal or better quality to the original campaign. I enjoyed it a lot and see no reason why I wouldn't enjoy more of the same, particularly if they improved upon the base game and made it more free-roamy and open ended.

Both are inspired by the new XCOM.

It looks like Dragonfall isn't happening until the last week of January at the earliest, as expected. Better for them since the end of next week is already crowded.

Has anyone heard updates from Harebrained in regards to Dragonfall? ETA etc? Need my Shadowrun fix!

Awesome tune! by Cyberdeck Avenger - https://soundcloud.com/cyberdeck-avenger/we-are-a-vision-of-the-future

I am also eagerly awaiting this DLC. Their twitter has some bits and pieces about Dragonfall being worked on still.

Cheers. Always forget about twitter. Ughh, I seriously wish they had avoided this Golem Arcana thing. I don't know anyone willing to burn that amount of money on what is essentially Warhammer+Tablet cow-clicker.

It may have been mentioned before, but you can actually listen to the Dragonfall audio tracks right now (they were silently patched into the main game with 1.1.1). Just use oggextract on 'resources.assets.resS' in the shadowrun_data directory.

e: you can reference them in mods too

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Given that they have not given any release date for the current month, chances are the game will be delayed. They just have not anounced it yet.
