Yet more proof that character creators are a mistake and you should be forced to play as preset classes/characters.
Wrong.

3d graphics was a mistake and has nothing to do with character/party creation. Grognards have had no problem with 2D portraits, tokens or even representing characters with just text and numbers.

I'm absolutely baffled by this game's reception. Who cares that the tieflings' faces are messed up when there's almost 0 good content in the entire game, lol.

devs are trolling at this point. New faces they added to existing races are uglier than previous

stone barb

Stone Barb is in my opinion one of their very few succesful designs that would fit right into P&P. It's essentially one of the first "real" tanks in a D&D game I can think of, in that it can actually tank hits and sustain frontline action in extended fights.

It is, however, quite a bit overpowered compared to the rest of the game's roster, especially in terms of tankiness. Barbarian's damage resistance is already one of the best abilities in 5E period, and Stone Barb abilities all synergize directly with that damage resistance, increasing the value of an already extremely potent ability. Considering the game is already too easy, that will probably keep me from playing it again. But it is an excellent design in my opinion. In a custom module or P&P game designed for that level of character effectiveness, it would be a blast.

its not just that. Even without barbarian in party you can build high AC tanks. I was able to roll without access to healing spells.
I dont have actual AC numbers on me, but my mountaineer was untouchable up to the point of being able to go through whole maps without resting(and heals). Mother pally had slightly lower AC but could make up the difference with lay on hands. Now you also got swiftblade ranger who can match ftr attacks number, while with extra feats can get big boosts to AC while dual wielding, I recall getting on paladin level.

So yeah, Im self balancing with lack of magic and rests

in terms of overpowerness, bigger issue is how certain classes gotten big boosts while others gotten nothing. ftr rangers and barbarians are all godly now. Paladins are fine too

The thing is - stone barb can hit those same numbers or near to them AND take half damage from all attacks AND shield himself AND heal himself

Hmmm...my saves from the original game mysteriously disappeared. Luckily I was able to import my level 10 party from the Jungle DLC.

Seems ok so far - good combat and cheesy voice acting is petty much all I could ask for.

booted lvl10 characters in new campaign.
Barbarian is at 23 AC, but will get +1 per adjacent enemy
Mountaineer 26
Paladin 25 (also grand +1 to team members skewing numbers a bit)
Swiftblade 23, 25 in combat, 28 if you count twin blade reaction

Numbers in +1 equipment(armor and shield), without attunement item bonuses. Better armors will skew numbers in favor of non barbarians.

Btw quick look at starting equipment of fresh party shows that it can be annoying as you are without tools, only +1 items, missing some cool AC items but most importantly - any means of identification and traversal items like fly and spider - quite crucial on non magic party

I understand that, but the system is not used well because the encounters are trash-tier.
Too bad the game doesn't come with tools to make custom encounters, it would be great if people in this very thread could create amazing campaigns.
Have they though
well artyon's modules are too overtuned but his campaigns are top notch , especially given the limits of the toolset.
