Anyone who supports this game by purchasing it AND claims to be a fan of real crpgs should have his chest ripped open, his beating heart extracted and shoved into his mouth so that he chokes to death on it.

South Park a good rpg does not make.

South Park is NOT compatible with the word: RPG.

You do realize that RPGs are not determined by setting but by gameplay mechanics.

You guys must be wondering: Why so much newfag around this thread?
Easy. It's one of the few on wich we actually have the so called "priviledges" to post on.

My question is, when will we be able to post on all threads?

EDIT: I would especially like to lay my hands on both Butt and Tits crowd.

While I can appreciate the bloodlust, I think that you are wrong. Could you elaborate on why South Park isn't compatible with RPG?

Who gives a fuck what you think?

I've watched this series pretty regularly and even though it's definitely not as good as it use to be, I'm sure there will be references to the earlier good seasons/episodes. That's what I'm looking forward to. Them combining the best elements of South Park over its entire run into a game. And judging by some of what the attacks and stuff are called, it sounds like it could be good. It doesn't have to be a monocle RPG. It just has to be a fun game that's true to the South Park series. I think it's worth demoing if you're a fan of South Park. We'll see how good it holds up as a RPG. We don't know enough yet.

The bright spot is that this game won't take itself so seriously, which seems to be a hallmark of this shitty genre now.

If south park the rpg is the big break obsidian been looking for and does really well, maybe...there's hope for an AP 2?:bounce:

Otherwise am having high hopes this is gonna be a southparkish version of paper mario rpg with added C n C in regards to who you befriend from the south park cast.

South Park needs to sell 2 mil. units to break even.

South Park requires a relatively smaller investment than other titles due to its simple animation. That project's break-even point is also 2 million units, though the publisher believes it can sell well above that, THQ told Pachter.

Ja haz ze world gone completely mad now or what?

South Park requires a smaller investment than our other titles. That's why it has the same break-even point as our high profile wrestling property. Also yeah we suck THAT much at money.

THQ can't into math.

Its probably the cost of licencing and marketing, but still its seems way too much since they themself say that the cost of game development itself is pretty low. It seems that Obsidian will get screwed again since the money they get from this is pretty low and probably will get the same deal as in FNV without royalties and bonus.

Guess what new guy? Despite outside impressions, the Codex doesn't actually hate everything. You don't need to absorb into the hivemind to be accepted here. Dissenting opinions are welcome. Also, getting an avatar of your own is a good idea.
Try discussing about how much fallout 1 sucks, and how mass effect 3 and dragon age 2 is the best thing to ever happen to pc gaming. Don't get me wrong though, you can present dissenting opinions, it's not like you'll get banned for it or anything. And you might just also have other people agreeing with you.
Ok, ok. I don't want to piss in your cold soup. Beta protocol is a good game :P
I love how you use "Beta Protocol" as an insult, when alpha is an earlier development stage and is already in the name you fucking retard.
So you counter the use of the nickname beta protocol, which is not entirely unjustified as it was riddled with presentation problems and bugs, by saying that it should be called by its proper name which alludes to an earlier, even more unfinished state?
:bravo: Well done, sir.

Why would we do your job for you?

I do wonder how they convinced investors (or whoever is funding this) that a full priced turn-based RPG with South Park styled graphics would sell at least 2 million copies.

They didn't. This project was started by the licensors (Matt and Trey the South Park Creators) and Obsidian. THQ was contracted to publish half a year later.

That's also why people shouldn't worry too much about Obsidian here. It's important what they arranged with the South Park guys. Not with THQ.

Codex 2016 - The Age of Grimoire Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Being one who never buys immediate releases, yes, I will purchase this as soon as it comes out. This looks entertaining as all hell. No matter how shitty this game turns out to be, there will be a Family Guy RPG which will be released right behind it which will suck 10x worse. Just watch.

So they aren't gonna be fucked over if it sells well?

I want AP 2 dammit.

Also I may get this once I get more info because I like South Park.

Hell Game of Thrones rpg was one of my favorites in a while.

That's actually fairly likely, since Matt and Trey at the very least seem like true bros.

Gonna wait for this when it hits the $20 on a sale. Obsidian fanboi here, but this game doesn't interest me (I never really liked South Park).

2 million to break even, (that'll be a struggle) three companies with their fingers in the same pie, THQ on its arse, feargus being the dumbass that he is. The whole thing screams fuck-up from a business perspective.

Obsidian ain't gonna see a penny from this. That being said it looks totally badass.

Obsidian why must you keep getting raped by publishers?

If all those shitty shit games can get Kickstarted surely if you say from the makers of Fallout:NV and South Park etc etc you'll get way more dosh than that shitty adventure game

Maybe Obsidian can eventually downsize itself into something more profitable, these AAA slave developers seem to be going nowhere.
