Update 1.3.33 - Pirates & endings

This time it's all about the late game and various endings.

  • Fix game crash on Kurbads when
talking to Jeanna after the assassination of Captain Howard
    .
  • Fix the game ending related to the EGOIST achievement.
  • Fix Peterson objects to you touching his junk
barrel even though he himself gave you the task
    .
  • Fix the "become pirate" ending.
  • Add more options to resolve the
    SEPIKODA crisis
    and finish the game.

I can't progress past a certain point:

I got access to the fuel area and explored the connected areas but I'm not sure what to do next. I got into the VR thing, disabled all the sentry robots, have a number of key-cards etc - I must be missing something obvious. I keep running in circles.

I actually can't remember where I found the bunker - unless it's referring to the main area filled with fuel tanks.

I can't progress past a certain point:

If you have a Fuel cell item, just go back to your little shuttle where you started the game and interact with it (door/little stairs thing) to prompt an interaction menu. And then refuel it and leave the station.

If you don't have the fuel yet, pick it up if you see one. Here are some options:

Fuel bunker. Yes, it is in the core of the station, there are some qtanks and cambots there, lots of tall blue containers. Those are full with Fuel cells.

or

Since you are in the Cityside in the picture, you can also climb the refuelling mast to discover an alternative refuelling solution. There's a bit of a thing to do but once you are done, go back to your shuttle and move it (fly) to the refuelling platform and refuel from there.

How exactly to do any of of above, depends on your char build,

You're at the very end of act 1. Just pick the fuel, go back to your shuttle and proceed with the quest for the water fuel controller chip.

Thanks guys. I can't believe something so obvious as taking the item back to the ship didn't cross my mind, what the hell! I in fact did pick it up but since I *think* I got no in-game feedback I thought I need to do something else.

I love how many options this game has. I'm using a fighter so I get to miss out on a lot of stuff, except when I roll a favourable dice when interacting with consoles etc.

I finished my 2nd playthrough, and indeed it was completely different from the 1st one.

I tried to create a gun focused commando, but found that in order to do it, I'd need to treat Work as a dump stat, and I find 3 in work as compulsory for each character. So instead I created a melee focused male character, with tons of hp and not much else. Okay, I gave him 3 tinkering, because you cannot forcefully open doors in Space Wreck, so I needed at least some skill with hairpins.

This time I never advanced to Kurbads and onwards. Staying at Krogus I killed some of the scavengers, boarded Spiriditis, stole both fuel and fuel control chip from there and returned to my ship. Some passanger shenanigans later I got confronted with the 2nd pirate ship (not Klaipeda) and had to deal with them. Since I already killed one of the rich passengers on my crew, paying ransom was not an option, so I went to the pirate ship and sabotaged the torpedo systems, returned to my ship and decided to run for my life. Unfortunately, they somehow fixed the torpedo holds and fucked my vessel again. In the end we managed to return to Earth, but the ship was wrecked and my career as a pilot - ended. Hence, I got the bad ending and a corresponding achievement. But at least I saw two completely different locations and another 8% of the content (31% currently) :)

Interesting. The whole idea of WORK is to sacrifice attributes. I imagine those +2 WORK points could have given you FOCUS (melee dmg? AP? crits?) or PERCEPTION (ranged). Do you find the skill points from levelups worthy trade-off?

Unfortunately, they somehow fixed the torpedo holds and fucked my vessel again.

That should explained in-game but the reason you failed to escape was because the propulsion system was still operational. Without weapons (torpedoes) they can just catch you, without engines they can fire upon your ship if you try to leave. Hence, to successfully escape, you need to disable both of them.

How much time did this playthrough take?

It's an interesting question. Perhaps I could place those 2 attribute points better, but then I'd get what, 40% of experience per solved quest? That's quite a serious penalty.

On the other hand, Work rewards you twofold: it gives you more skill points on character creation (and these matter a lot, since later you only get 1 skill point per 2 level-ups!) and increases your experience rewards. So not only do you level up faster, amassing skill points and perks, but also start with a lot of skill points which are often more valuable than attribute points.

I must try a playthrough with a Work 5 character and see how it goes. Sure, I'll be handicapped when it comes to attributes, but very skillful.

Hmmm... but the message spoke about torpedos hitting my ship first, then pirates boarding it. Yes, I figured I should have broken the engines too, but the engines were guarded and even my melee-focused character was too weak to kill the guard, the guy escorting me around, and then to fight my way back through the whole ship.

Less than 3 hours I'd say. It was caused by a) the fact nobody wanted to talk with my social outcast captain, so there was much less reading b) I already knew where some of the cards opening doors were located.

In the latest patch 1.3.35, I make this more distinct and clear, based on your actual actions.

So here's the ending you did not get but it's the ending you deserve:

(Also, I fixed a clever exploit that allowed you to explore both branches in the same playthrough. Oh no you don't, not on my watch!)

[Suggestion for increased ESG score] :
Whenever Player clicks on "Quit Game", Space Nigger Tranny with blonde hair in Polish calls you "KURWA QUITTER!" and dickslaps Player. 20$ from your bank account appears on Zelensky's credit card. Killing of Ukranians continues

Well, aren't you quite the charmer?
Cute not-response

Thank you for not wasting my time with your game. Remember to not get addicted to ESG cock-sucking, there are nasty side effects. Like your city being New-Yorkized, your country bombed to ruins and you stabbed by friendly Somalian migrant while buying Soy Milk in store. But don't worry! Be happy, trust the media and play in your little digital imaginary world, while Real World burns around you

Question on the end of Part 2 exactly before boarding back the ship:

That weird Patrick guy wants to join me - now I can just kill him and get it over with but is bringing him along worth it? As in, do things pan out more interestingly or is he just someone who will obviously turn his back on me at one point in time?

I don't need backup, just thinking if I should just kill him after he kills his 2 comrades.

Beat the game, took me 9 hours. 3 short, succinct acts - I really like it. Good job man, especially impressive that this is essentially a one-man job! I'll get around to creating a totally different character now that I know what I need to be doing to get to the next act.
