Yeah Lost Alpha is the last hope we will have for a new "proper" Stalker game in a long time while that mess with the IP gets sorted out

I just got a new laptop and the first thing I installed was the Stalker games for an long upcoming trip.
While searching for some mods I ran into the Oblivion Lost mod has anybody played that, is it good?
Also the performance of the game in the laptop is...ok and I am considering caping the FPS at 30 to have a smoother experience but it the -noprefetch command any good? I didn't use it on my gaming PC because my performance was pretty good but should I use it on the laptop, are there any performance gains or less 3 second pauses?

Invictus, Oblivion Lost is a nice mod. Its so famous its the base of other mods which build upon it. If I aint mistaken, Autumn Aurora makes this, as do the "Mod Pack 2013". I recommend this last one.

BTW, Im using the last Autumn Aurora 2 patch (2.03) and im liking the mod better. Economy looks more harsh and the firefights more fair (everybody dies with headshots now).

BTW2, my Misery 1.2 post-endgame walkthrough goes on and man, shit gets wild after the evac. I just stumbled on a team of 3 BURERS back on Zaton, near the sawmill area. It was frenetic, and in the end I had to runaway after losing my best pistol (a full-auto .45 Glock with silencer) and barely getting my main gun (a fully upgraded AS Val).

Ok, recently had that Stalker itch again.
Since I have played CoP a few times, I decided on replaying SoC.
What (large) mod does the Codex recommend? Autumn Aurora 2 any good?
Anything that's specifically targeting the long walks through several maps because the random quest giver is 3 maps away?

Narodnaya Solyanka add bunch of maps, not sure if it there's that kind of missions.
Autumn Aurora 2 i ok, but Zone of Alienation is even better.

Yes I know I am a pussy etc. but I am having a hard time playing the otherwise very beautiful and fun Autumn Aurora mod for SoC. I can't even complete that damn bandit raid on the garbage. I take cover, they just one shoot me. And yes I have installed that config file Invictus uploaded, still have a hard time. Is there a config file that controls the damage output for enemies? Or is it a global stat for weapons, regardless who carries them?

Any specific pros and cons of the two?

Zone of Alienation.
Better damage setting, something like Ranger from Metro 2033 - you kill in one, two hit and vice versa to enemy (but AI don't have wallhacks or autoaim so it's good). And most important - basic mutants (pigs and those howling meatballs) are weaker and don't need few buckshots to the face.
And mod looks phenomenal. I'm not graphic whore but first look was outstanding. No bloom, HDR or that kind of shit, just good lighting, colours and textures.

Autumn Aurora 2? Everything is grey.

Surf Solar you can download the 2.04 patch it makes further changes of the enemy sight and the economy is a bit more hardcore but good overall.
Mmm ZoA sounds good too, there can never be to many good Stalker mods

Surf Solar, install the latest patch. It changed considerably the game difficulty. Its much more fair now.

Gord, Autumn Aurora 2 is an awesome mod. It has the latest Atmosfear and Absolute Nature mods, and implement various simulation and/or survival related features, not so different from what Misery for CoP does. Ie: you have to eat, sleep, etc. and when you do eat your character cant run nor use weapons for a small time while this chewing sounds go out like he is really having lunch. Its really cool. Also, they implemented artifact detection similar to CoP, where the artifacts stay invisible and each detector model can scan certain types of artifacts, implemented a mod that makes the NPCs outfits varied which is awesome too, better dynamic huds (the helmet visors), etc. Oh and the graphics are the best Ive seen for any SoC mod, even better than Misery in some parts. Ive found the mod too difficult initially, but the latest patches corrected it and now Im having loads of fun with it.

P.S: damn, I must learn how to tag users. Anyone giving a hand ?

On another note, Misery 2.1 beta got released. I haven't tested yet but will do in the afternoon, and post impressions.

skacky, what's your take on AA2 vs ZoA?

You seemed to have enjoyed both.
Since my downloads of ZoA failed 3 times in a row (I do think I have a working version now, though), I've still to install anything.

AA2 and ZoA are vastly different.
AA2 is more of a visual/atmosphere overhaul than a gameplay one, even if it has some new things and makes the game a bit harder. It's by far the most beautiful mod for SoC right now and dethroned ZoA as my favorite mod. ZoA on the other hand puts an emphasis on guns and lots and lots of mutants. It also has random and most of the time invisible anomalies, forcing you to either carefully listen and throw bolts or invest in some rather expensive detectors. Of the two, ZoA is the hardest and is mostly for veterans. AA2 is very stable while ZoA likes to crash often and corrupt saves in Army Warehouses, but it's still in active development.

On the subject of Misery, I haven't played enough yet but the economy doesn't seem to be as retarded as it was in 2.0. Looks like cooking is a real thing now too.

Thanks guys, I think I may try both on seperate installs, but I'm not sure about the invisible anomalies from ZoA.
Sounds more like tedium than anything to me so far (will see, though).

It was borked like ZoA economy?
Cooking in Misery?? Didn't know that. Any details?
Is one of the moment when detailed food descrption is useful?
Is it really useful? Isn't sausage/can/bread enough like in every STALKER?

I saw promises about cooking mutants meat but there were issues or impossibility.

And most important - check the headshots, if they work finally.

Economy was very unfair in Misery 2.0, mutant parts and artifacts were worthless and most things were too expensive. Looks like they toned that down a bit. Concerning cooking, you can find mutant meat on dead muties and cook it. You'll require kerosene and all. I haven't tried yet but it sounds fun.

Watch out - a couple guys saying they died eating cooked mutant food in the mod comments section. Got irreversibly sick or something.

And they changed the game intro. I dont like it. Its very well done, but I prefer the original one that explains who you are and why youre in the zone.

Also, they should really ditch that STALKER JOURNAL. Its lame as shit.

Haven't played Misery in months, do bandits still take two to three headshots to kill because of some misguided attempt at balancing?
