If you could do it in real life, why wouldn't we let you do it in-game? We give players tools to allow them to make decisions about how they want to play.

As someone who got mugged once. Yeah I totally had the choice to bypass the encounter and pretend like it didn't happen and run away without getting stabbed.
Shut the fuck up Pete.

Game design is about action and reaction. If you're too scared to push the player into a situation then you're not communicating in the design how the player is doing and how they're progressing, you've not created urgency in their actions and you've not allowed them to exist in this world rather the world exists around the player and that's poisonous to a sandbox. Dreadful dreadful design philosophy tailored to brain dead snowflakes who think "Freedom" is just looting everything and killing everyone in an area and repeating that over and over. I fucking despise everything Bethesda stands for. Fucking kiddie pool bullshit.

I never played Skyrim, sorry.
He asked if you bought a copy this year, not if you played it. Todd only cares about the former.
I never played nor bought a copy of any edition of Skyrim. Ever.
I didn't even pirate it.
Come on... you play it. You know you play it. We all play it. We love to play it. I play it and I love to play it. I just played it and I'm ready to play it again don't tell me you don't play it.

Did a little exploration outside of New Atlantis:

You can use your scanner to scan plants, animals and minerals. You have to scan a bunch of them to get 100% data. Not sure yet what this is for tbh but it feels really pointless and retarded running around a procedurally generated landscape scanning things.

Lil peaceful bug thing.

Starfield-9-2-2023-11-34-31-AM.png

Peaceful grazing dinosaur-looking aliens.

Starfield-9-2-2023-11-28-22-AM.png

Not so peaceful plant aliens.

An unknown location in the distance.. let's check it out.

Starfield-9-2-2023-11-36-55-AM.png

Some kind of base...

Starfield-9-2-2023-11-37-14-AM.png

It had some enemies called Ecliptics who were fighting bird aliens.

Starfield-9-2-2023-11-37-34-AM.png

Looks like they parked their spaceship outside

Starfield-9-2-2023-11-37-54-AM.png

Kill the crew or leave the ship, mhhh....

Starfield-9-2-2023-11-39-16-AM.png

After killing just 3 guys in the cockpit (the rest must've been on the ground) I successfully stole their ship

Starfield-9-2-2023-11-35-53-AM.png

Another location, this time a cave, in the distance... mhh do I really care? Probably not

So yeah, that seems to be the planetary exploration of the game. I'm not a fan tbh.

What is also funny is how easy it was to steal their ship, meanwhile I've spent hours looting toilet paper and half-eaten sandwiches... That feels very, very weird.

The best part of always expecting the worst is that you are never disappointed.
No, you only set yourself up to suffer from confirmation bias and lose the ability to genuinely enjoy things
Nah Iam always objective, if the game is well received or I just find it interesting I will try it and I will honestly judge it.

But I dont start with any expectations, that way if a game manages to be good Im pleasantly surprised and if its shit im not disappointed, its a win win situation.

While I am a fan of Bethesda games and have played every single of their game up until now (beside the mobile ones), this one smelled rotten from a mile away from the moment first information about it started appearing.

14 hours in. The stand-out moment for me was this giant Starship Trooper bug you had to fight in some remote outpost. It was pretty fun zipping around with the boostpack, fixing the defense systems, and trying to hold it off until laser turrets killed it.

I always find third-person mode to be pretty useless in Bethesda games but they've made it worse here. They've replicated The Witcher 3 style movement. So basically, if you're running in one direction and make a hard turn the other way, you'll see your character have to physically stop, turn their body, and then run. However first person movement controls as a game should.
