I literally posted that a few posts up!

Don't expect it to get much better. Valve isn't going to actively support Windows on the Steam Deck, and many of those problems are out of their hands. They can't do much about the proprietary AMD drivers or the Windows OS. Compare that with SteamOS where they can freely change anything they want.

Apparently, one of the issues of this is the sound of the fan, some users report it as overbearing. Has anyone got a Steam Deck to confirm this, because people on Reddit tend to exaggerate things? I'm Q2...

apparently there are 2 models of the fan mounted on the deck, depending on the batch:
the first, like the one sent to press for pre-review, less noisy, and the second mounted for most of the decks, with a high noise. wich one you'll get depends on your luck but probably you'll get the noisy one

That's back in 2015 probably, some MSI or Alienware monstrosity that's 90% copper. Today if it's even close to 2kg they shit themselves.

But just lol @ hurt my back.

How is he ever going to manage to throw a lady friend over his shoulder and smack that ass while walking over to the bedroom?

I know, like that's ever gonna happen

Looks like being the patientgamer even when it comes to hardware (at least from mainly software companies :-P) is proving to be a good thing - i guess if there are enough complaints about it Valve will switch to only using the quiet(er) fan and by the time mine is sent (Q3+) i'll have the nice fan.

Then again, do people really care about it in practice? How many would be using this without headphones/earphones? IME no matter how good the audio system in a handheld is, it is always far inferior to a half-decent pair of earphones.

Well if my wife is going to complain about the noise when chilling in the same room, it's going to defeat its purpose and I'll have to RMA her.

I just got mine and I honestly like it. I don't think I'd play AAA games on it because the battery life is abysmal, but certainly indie games, AA, and tons of emulated games.

I received the email today and completed my purchase. Yeah, for indie games it seems ideal. Anyone from EU who got this? How long did it take to arrive?
