also ken looks like he snapped
Some minor things I'd like to see changed in the series:
Standardize the SF2 boss names across all regions. Dictator - Balrog. Boxer - Bison (drop the M). Claw - Vega. Boxer doesn't even look like Tyson and everything associated with him has a buffalo theme.
Why would they change the characters' names to the wrong ones? Vega is the boss guy, M. Bison the black guy, Balrog the Spanish guy and Gouki is Gouki who is the brother of Gouken.

the boxer character was named "mike bison", shortened to m. bison, as an obvious reference to mike tyson. to avoid possible legal stuff they swapped the names around and ended up converting mike bison to master bison when the name was shuffled over to the dictator character.

no idea why gouki was changed to akuma.

another match video, slightly higher quality but worse angle:

seems like they removed grey damage too, and also chip damage :/

Man, I got like 3500+ hours on Xbox 360 playing SSF2T HDR. Bought a Hori Arcade stick just to play that game. Gief was my main, but I also played boxer and honda. I got tons of butthurt from peeps playing as Gief, these fools would let me just tick SPD them perfect, even double perfect. I can't really play these fighting games anymore due to my wrists being fucked up with arthritis and carpel tunnel. Playing on a pad is easier, but I can't play as good with a pad, my execution just isn't there. I really need a stick for those 360 degree inputs, and also the charge characters play way better on a stick. I could see how someone could manage a shoto just fine on a pad though.

There were some very good boxer players on XBL, players I couldn't even really touch, but I always enjoyed playing them, because you don't get better unless you're playing against better players, although the vast majority of my time was punishing scrubs of every character variety, most notably scrub shotos who just let me rush them down into the corner and roll them, while baiting dragon punches.

Not paying attention to Kotaku I missed the humorous news that Kotaku writer Ian Walker said this would be the first Street Fighter game with a black woman in it, and then when it was pointed out that Elena has been there since 1997's New Generation, instead of just saying he made a mistake he tried to bullshit an explanation about how she doesn't actually count because she's a Kenyan from Africa.

I could see them changing it because they thought people might think it's "Gooky," or that people would just start calling him that anyways. I definitely remember "Sagat the Faggot" being a thing when Street Fighter 2 was new, (at least where I live) and Akuma comes a few years later, so it could just have been them trying to preemptively avoid something similar.

Of course it could be all kinds of stuff. Maybe someone thought I'd be easier to pronounce. Maybe someone just thought it sounded cooler. Could even have just been a change someone made so they could say they did something. It's not Akuma, but maybe it helped that the Conan movies were still big around that time and one of the characters there is named Akiro.

I know, I just asked him why they should standardize it to the wrong names rather than the correct ones. And no clue if Tyson is even still alive, so it shouldn't matter changing the name now. (And well, it's not like everyone and their mother didn't copy Bruce Lee too, even complete with badly changed names.)

Not paying attention to Kotaku...
Isn't that how it should be? Why give any clicks to garbage websites? Let the dumpster fires burn themselves out and get thrown out.

I was trying to be diplomatic by having both the Japanese and Western names being changed. Plus, Claws is Spanish and Vega sounds more appropriate (despite it having a wimpy meaning like bottom) than Balrog. No foppish guy is going to call himself something harsh sounding like Balrog. Balrog, thanks to Lord of the Rings, also sounds more evil than Vega so it stands to reason the big boss would have the most evil name.

Native languages

I only play versus nowadays so I was mostly referring to just the stuff they say in that mode - Spinning Star Kick. As for insults, I've been insulted in a few languages I don't understand and I still had a pretty good idea of what they were telling me to do to my mother.

Regardless, they already allow you to adjust the voices between Japanese and English. One more toggle for "native" should be satisfactory.

And this recently got CAPCOM in "trouble" with Fei Long too. Japanese take trademark and copyright very seriously, and do anything possible to avoid legal entanglements because of how it works on their end.

Also, Tyson is very much alive. Man's a hero.

It's supposed to be some stage name thing I'm guessing since you fight him in an underground tavern and the whole "he's ugly on the inside" shit. Vega sounds better.

Reminder that Alpha 3 had an insanely underrated soundtrack.

Better than this corny rap/hip hop shit that's here because "lol 3S had rap remember 3S you liked 3S right."

Chun-Li's character select screen is based on this drawing:

That drawing doesn't have disproportionate fuckhueg duck thighs and tiny 4 year old calves bro.

Cool impressions in this video:

Guy's impressions is that SF6 is a mix of Alpha 3 and Third Strike, and the biggest departure from SF2 in the series. I think this is a great sign.

A cool thing I didn't know before is that the Drive Bar gets drained by blocking normal attacks, functioning as a kind of guard meter. When you're in the exhausted state (no drive bar) you take extra damage, can take chip damage and you can be stunned. This is also great.

I think jumps look awkward in this build (too floaty), but I'm sure they'll be tweaked many times over.

If it's what I think you're referring to, the guy that started that rumour ,one of SFV's composeres, kind of made shit up and presented it as facts. The Bruce Lee Estate came out and said the whole thing is fake news.

They have? Heh, that's surprising, considering everyone else would have to then too. As for Japanese and trademark/copyright, it depends. After all, doujins are a thing and widely accepted by the companies. And it's not like stormtroopers didn't show up in some short anime which got also commercially sold. And let's also not forget spiderman and batman showing up in some Mega Drive game.

I'm not American, so no clue. And I only know of him because of references of him biting some guy's ear.

Absolutely. When I thought of "Vega" before, I always thought of the star. Regarding "evil-sounding" names, that's more a thing for young teenagers.

So apparently to parry multiple hits you just have to hold down the parry buttons. I think this is a terrible choice tbh, and will cheapen the mechanic quite a bit. This was probably decided to create more "wow" moments for spectators, but when you see every nickel and dime Ryu parrying Chun's full super, even though it might look cool the first few times, any impact will be completely gone pretty fast.

Yeah, stated in Max's video at 14:16. Horrible decision indeed, feels like as if nothing in this game will be special anymore. Just everything being grounded to one skill level (like for example with SF5 removing one-frame links) with a very low skill ceiling. This really comes hand in hand with "official" announcers being a thing, trying to make everyone playing this game feel like an "e-sportler".

The game looks great, but I'm not sold on the gameplay after watching those videos looks super basic.

Capcom trying to manufacture e-sports yet again with SF6 instead of just letting the game spontaneously become about that based on its own strengths/people wanting to play it to such a competitive degree.

I sigh.

Why the hell did they transplant some 400lb thing's ass onto Chun-Li?

This commentator thing sucks balls. "That'll give them a psychological advantage!" Yeah, I'm sure CPU Level 4 is shaking in its boots.

I've loved Street Fighter since setting high scores in the arcade on the first game but this looks like complete dog shit outside of the smooth frame rate.
