It's a disappointing post by a disappointed man, and it saddens me. I hoped this thread could prove he wasn't insane, or whatever people called him - but then you, Mr. Blakemore, take such a stance. It's alienating to everyone.

The people that did attempt to argue with him quickly lost patience with him for reasons stated above. A wall of excessive self pride and importance is impossible to break over the internet. People have lives, they don't have time to sit here and type responses to someone (potentially) with Asperger's, who doesn't have any real responsibilities in life at the moment. Not to bag on Cleve because he doesn't have a job or anything, but it's not realistic to expect people who *are* thinking rationally to waste their time talking to someone over the INTERNET. Nothing that anyone says carries any real meaning.

That's the tastiness of the situation right there, and the reason I'm getting so much entertainment from this thread. Cleve's opponents are damned if they do and damned if they don't. A person skilled in rhetoric who wants to put in the time could possibly stalemate Cleve, but since that's not the case we have this one guy kicking ass and taking names against the entirety of the Codex hive mind. I don't know about you, but I find something hilarious in a community of renowned (and renounced) for it's elitist bad assedness being owned by a single eccentric poster. When has that ever happened before?

I think much of it is the Anglo-Saxon (and obsessive compulsive Aspergers, for that matter...) tendency to have a hard time admitting you're wrong. British Bulldog syndrome. Once you've built an entire underground bunker, why not keep it up instead of accepting all your time as a waste? I think he accomplished a lot by making the bunker, where being stubborn is helpful, but the whole genius Aspergers uberman belief really should go.

No matter how many signs pop up (oil prices, corruption, decadence), watching a civilization fall apart is something you have to know how to see, and lots of people just aren't bright enough to see it, so they deny it. That's where ad hominem attacks pop up, and upset Cleve and drag him down to a lower level, which is unfortunate.

It would be really stupid of them to attack australia with nukes, and even if they did they could flatten every military target and 'major city' in Australia and the fallout out in the middle of nowhere would be negligible. It's the biggest and least well defended place on the earth. If they did start a war its likely goal would be to seize new zealand and australia as colonies. I doubt they ever would, though. Russia would have been able to come out ahead in a nuclear war if it were less disorganized, but china is to small, its population desnity too high, and too dependent on the outside for resources. Even in a coventional war with the US they would be obliterated with hundreds of millions killed before the US ever landed any troops (if they ever bothered to).

I think the difference is that today, these things have become acceptable in society. I see couples kissing each other in disgusting ways on the escalators; see kids kicking over trashcans (without anyone complaining) and have to endure how my mother tongue is ravaged by eight-year olds that seem to swear every second word and think violence is the answer to every problem.

The problem isn't only just the lunatics and incestuous freaks, though, it's what has changed for average people. Even 50 years ago, popular musicians often had jazz, blues, gospel, and other more respectable backgrounds, and they were interesting in making catchy (if mindless) tunes without trying to shove ideology down your throat. Porn then was more like what is called erotica today, resembling more of a simulation than a degradation of sex. Kids then weren't dressing like tramps at age 13. Hell, look at how many people wore nice suits and dresses back then compared to today, from watching old films. There was just more dignity.

Well I finally went back and read the *entire* thread, and all of Cleve's posts:

- He has the potential to be a very well-spoken guy, but he trips all over himself the moment he starts aimlessly insulting everyone.

- He knows how to type a shitload of text to a comparably small argument. Again, this just makes him look like an idiot, not the other way around. Why respond to these lesser beings? I would probably agree with him about half these people if he didn't show obvious attachment to them.

- He doesn't know how to KISS. This may be from his (alleged) Asperger's or his internet knowledge. Most of his arguments are not actually that complex, but use a lot of text to convey a fairly basic point.

- He's an opinionated man, with no respect for logic or free thinking. Ironically, much like the Amerikwans he seeks to criticize.

- He's very good at the internet, both because he refuses to KISS and because he is not bogged down by logic. Again, ironically, considering he frequently insults these 4chan-minor noobs for doing the same thing as him. In fact, that hypocrisy only makes him BETTER at the internet.

- He's an embarrassment to Asperger's/Autistic people. Most people I know of Aspies forums are the exact opposite of him, free-thinkers, not bogged down by human emotions and desire when discussing things.

- He has some genuinely correct views about the world. -But he doesn't know how to realize the difference between the real world and generalizations of the real world. This gets mixed in with his innate pride and arrogance, and produces some genuine bullshit.

- He has an inherent hostility towards people. He reminds me of my 12 year old self, always looking at things in absolutes. You're either smart or dumb, right or wrong, good or bad, great or lesser. I used to be the same way, so convinced that every problem had some ultimate answer that was beyond everyone, and absolutely refusing to live life "in the now".

- He managed to make a 20 page thread about himself, e-fame achieved. Encyclopedia Dramatica page is not far behind.
