- Toras is a widower with only 1 daughter, succeeding your father who was a fuckup. Your uncle (an advisor) also has claim to the throne and the royal houses can support him if you prove unpopular.
- Religion plays a much bigger role than it did in Sordland.
- Dialogue suggesting Rumburgians can be removed from the premises.
- Toras has a different ideological map than Rayne, Monarcho-Communist meme runs unlikely.
- Simplified economics. On top of Budget you also have Authority and Energy resources now, no personal wealth.
- Royal Decrees which can be activated at any time but cost some combination of the resources mentioned above, story events can add/disable decrees.
- Big emphasis on geopolitics and territory reclamation, one region is occupied by funnyman Wiktor while the other is an autonomous breakaway called The Pales.
- Dev deliberately avoids panning the camera east towards the ocean, says there is a "surprise" there. Lespia has an island territory there I believe, potential annexation?
- Game starts 1950 (Alphonso's presidency) and ends around the same time Rayne's term ends, dev says if you play Sordland campaign first you can save import to change some things in Rizia (doesn't work the other way around unfortunately).

Finished two runs and starting a third. Definitely one of the best games I've played this year.
My only complaint is that replaying it is a pain in the ass. Lots of text that exists in every playthrough, no real way to skip forward, very easy to misclick, etc.
They really should have adopted common CYOA practices.
Also, they should've added an option for a trad wife :D.
Other than that, this is an accomplishment. The writing is superb.

During that time, we announced the release date of the Kingdom of Rizia—scheduled to launch on March 25, 2024. We are pouring our hearts into this DLC, eager for everyone to experience the new adventures and stories it holds.
Initially, we planned to release the DLC before the end of 2023. However, we extended the development period to refine the new features and narratives. This decision ensured that we delivered higher-quality content.

On the creative side, we celebrated the completion of the Rizia Original Soundtrack, now available for wishlist, alongside significant progress in sound production for both the prologue and the main game. Our art team has been hard at work finalizing character portraits and refining our logos and silhouettes. Additionally, a major technical stride was made in optimizing the notification system, significantly boosting game performance. This will have a significant positive impact on the Sordland experience as well with the future update.
The late-game narrative design is being meticulously crafted to ensure a compelling conclusion to all storylines, while the integration of war mechanics with story elements is being enhanced for a more immersive experience. Work is continuing in seamlessly integrating the armed forces and training mechanics into the Rizia experience, extending their use beyond just the war path into the diplomatic path. The expansion of the Rizia codex is ongoing, adding further lore richness to the Suzerain Universe.

I'm curious why this is a DLC instead of its own game. From everything I've seen, it's already a full game in its own right without any dependencies on the original.
It also might be a better business decision to have it be an independent game instead of a DLC, the profitability of which is questionable.

Sounds incline, hopefully allows for a variety of ways to get a strong army rather than rigidly conforming to a handful of checks (something I disliked about the base game. Probably not alone in that sentiment either given that they provided more detail to it in 2.0 and a adding this whole thing in the DLC)

- developer & publisher Torpor Games and indie label Fellow Traveller unveiled the highly anticipated release date for the premium DLC of the critically acclaimed political RPG, Suzerain. Save the date, the Kingdom of Rizia is set to launch on March 25th, 2024. The DLC is the first release in a long-term plan by the Berlin-based indie studio to expand the universe of Suzerain, which now boasts a massive player base of 650,000 individuals worldwide.
Starting today, you will be able to pre-order the DLC exclusively on Steam. The DLC, initially priced at $9.99, will have a discount of 10 percent for pre-orders. Additionally, everyone who pre-orders will receive a bonus collectible: the Royal Gold Bar.
Suzerain is a political RPG originally released on PC in 2020, with a Nintendo Switch version added in 2021 and iOS/Android releases in 2022. The game puts the player in the shoes of Anton Rayne, the newly elected President of the fictional country of Sordland in an alternate version of the 1950s. It has received praise for its deep and nuanced exploration of politics through a human lens that focuses on people and power.
In the Kingdom of Rizia Premium DLC, players will explore the geopolitical and internal challenges of King Romus Toras in Rizia, four years before the main game's events. Players will navigate a complex web of political and personal relationships with the royal houses, councilors, country leaders, and others. The DLC offers a fresh narrative perspective of a monarch and expands the Suzerain universe's lore and world map.

Excellent expansion and well worth the money. Towards the end it does struggle to keep track of all the choices and reactivity though, the funnyman did not join my new international alliance even though I was nice to him the entire run.
