"Overall, I can honestly say that I had a good time with Sword Coast Legends, even though I certainly hadn't expected to have one. The fun simply crept up on me. The sheer amount of choices I had just for placing traps and chests, changing the difficulty check on locked and hidden doors to delay the party, and tweaking combat encounters on-the-fly kept me fully occupied throughout the hands-on."

Bubbles , How many beers that day ? The dm tools are so simplistic even a monkey could do it....My friend was bored dming that.I tried it too and must say its really underwhelming. Its a diablo with long cooldowns and lackluster visuals, it should be moved to general gaming.

I thought it was fun. How much did you try to do as DM?

My Gamescom impressions were also with a well managed group (who also had direct dev advice) that managed to put me under pressure while I quickly had to figure out the best approach to deal with them - having that kind of pressure probably made things more fun than the average pug run, where half the group starts afk and the rest tries to run through walls for a few minutes. That why's I'm interested in hearing what kind of groups Mortmal DM'd for.

I'm running Dungeon Crawls as DM during Head Start, just look for "sstacks" in the Dungeon Crawl lobby. I've done some multi-player as a player which is basically action RPG... really wanting to try things as a DM.

It was with random guys+ friend, they werent doing anything wrong, playing reasonably ok .Some critters were not really balanced some flame horror, one shooting the tank for exemple, that was not their fault . The whole experience sounded very shallow and simplistic.I am not saying that to be contrarian and edgy.

With all this DM & multiplayer talk, is there even a big juicy singleplayer campaign?

It seems Steam forums are full of angry people and that the head start version has technical issues that are going to kill it more than all the design failures.

I will probably ask for a refund
I played for an hour and the game mechanic wise looks like a very bad joke. I play DnD 5E twice a week so I was looking forward to SCL. I don't remember when I was so disappointed.
I created a cleric. There are no divine domains. You have to buy EVERYTHING with ability / skill points. You want heavy armor proficiency - pay, you want turn undead - pay, you want spiritual weapon - pay. There are no spell slots. You just buy upgraded lvl of a spells /facepalm. Also witch bolt is a cantrip... The stabilize thing is just ridiculous. I was thinking about re-creating one of my table top characters - it's impossible.

I'm waiting for the reviews. Unless they will praise SCL for a great campaign (I doubt that) I will ask Steam for a refund.

If you want to play a good Baldur's Gate style CRPG - buy Pillars of Eternity. That game is amazing and worth your money.

They sure deliver

Just ask for refund. 2 hours is probably 25% of the campaign.
If you ask for a refund past 2 hours you may get the automated message they dont accept, think you have to manually write support. Unfortunatly i dont think you can refund gift copies either. So many people are left disapointed and unable to get refunds. As for POE it looks like the last bastion of oldschool rpgs compare to that.....Yes its that bad.
Tbh i am really upset vs bubbles and jarl frank because the only reason the game made it to my wishlist was the gamescon preview. You guys seems to genuinely had a lot of fun with multi while the big flaws are immediately obvious .There's big technical issues too cant lsit them all . I am not a D&D rules ayatollah, i can enjoy many gaming genre, a multiplayer D&D diablo like why not, a gauntlet arcade game with friends why not, but i cant see many people enjoying this, i doesnt cater to the grognards(not a surprise) but doesnt cater to diablo players either.

Can't you refund the game until it's released because right now, it's technically a "pre-purchase" (Steam's "preorder").

I'll probably get the game after launch, if it's entertaining like the Gamescom report describes it. I don't care about the games as a DnD game.

Mort bro, multiplayer of anything is bound to be fun, even if its a turd shoveling contest, especially when you are playing it for the first time and on local.
It simply is inherently fun. I called it back at the thread and im telling it to you right now, the guys honestly had fun, its just that it had nothing to do with whatever they were playing.
