Harm certainly works on him. Don't know about other things.Wasn't the very final boss magic immune? I remember having a lot of trouble with him.
of courseCan you split your points between melee and magic and still have a viable build? Or is it best to specialize?
BUMP it up because Arx: End of the Sun BETA is out already!

Will test it next day, now busy with other stuff.
Congrats, a really cool RPG.Just finished it today (first time) with Arx Libertatis (1.1.2 "Rhaa Movis"). Overall a very positive experience.
No, the right choice. It is a bit unbalanced, but it's cool conceptually (the way atomic effects combine into composite spells), has a lot of utility besides combat, and better than melee combat. And fireball looks damn cool. Also, I had no problems drawing the spells in combat. Of course against powerful enemies like the Ylsides, you do want to prepare 3 in advance, because those guys kill fast, but the drawing itself was ok.But it seems like chosing the mage way was a bad choice. The magic system is pretty dumb.
Agree absolutely. I enjoyed some puzzles in Arx, but it was very uneven, with some being incredibly obscure, and if I hadn't looked them up online, I would still be stuck in it. If you haven't yet, play Ultima Underworld, the game that Arx was supposed to be a follow-up to (it was supposed to be UU3), it's basically the same structure as Arx, but older graphics/controls, BUT much better puzzles. For some riddles hints would be great. Maybe i missed them, but it felt very cryptic sometimes.
I had the same issue, it's a bug with Arx Libertatis I believe. They listed it as having been fixed years ago, but obviously it's not. Oh well, you still need this mod as without it, the game is completely glitched on modern systems, so there is no way around this as far as I know.-The "boss fight": I don't get it. He just stands there with his turquoise shield on and does nothing; no demons, no lightnings.
The story is pretty forgettable, but the setting is damn cool. I loved the ending trailer. Now to the story:
Of course shit, evil god, chosen one yadda yadda, oy vey. But did these snake women really give up that easily? That was pathetic.
I played the game as a pure fighter with almost all points in improving armor and combat, and getting owned by Ylsides. I could only beat them by using cheap tactics but there isn't a lot of room to correct bad builds. Think I was level 7 or 8 by the time I finished the game. I ended spending all my points on level 6 and 7 on magic just so I could properly damage them. Was kind of annoyed but overall, for all its faults, I really liked this game. It's fine to play a pure fighter for most of the game, but the Ylsides are a pain in the ass to fight.

Does the self-destruct usually make damage like in Deus Ex? Nothing like that in Arx Libertatis for me.It's been a while, but from what I remember my biggest problem with them was their build-in self-destruct.
