Monk is not too bad in IWD2. A good blend of speed, stealth and striking power if you build it right. Good to rush through the enemy group and occupy the casters until the rest of your party dispose of the meatshields.

Monks are OP in IWD2.

Someone made portraits of the characters based on Dungeon Meshi's art style.

Starting BG series soon, what mods should I use? (Cause people can't seem to have a general consensus.)

Cause there's a fuckton of them. I have a basic understanding of D&D.

Baldur's Gate city map

Last year I had the pleasure and privilege to work with James Ohlen and Arcanum Worlds on this piece. It began as the 20 year anniversary of the original Baldur’s Gate video game, which I played many, many times. It was cool to work with the man who helped bring that to life way back then.

I wanted this version of the city to be inspiring, as well as accurate, in so far as it was possible for me. I didn’t have access to anyone at WOTC to let me know where certain things were located. So I spent a LOT of time researching things. And then we changed the location of one anyways. That was due to an encounter map you’ll see later. I hope this version will stand the test of time and be around for another 20 years.

It ended up becoming a campaign setting book over on the DMsGuild - https://www.dmsguild.com/product/269398/Heroes-of-Baldurs-Gate-5e
Definitely go pick up a copy. Works like that help more maps get made. Cheers, J

Baldur's Gate - Sword Coast map

Last year I had the pleasure and privilege to work with James Ohlen and Arcanum Worlds on this piece. It began as the 20 year anniversary of the original Baldur's Gate video game, which I played many, many times.

And, aside from the classic crashes, I enjoyed immensely. Except the Flaming Fist. ;P

So this was beyond cool to work with the man who helped bring that to life way back then.

I wanted this version to be something people could be inspired by, and hopefully transported into the environment.

I hope this version will stand the test of time and be around for another 20 years.

Baldur's Gate

this is the cover art for "Heroes of Baldur's gate" made for Arcanum for their D&D rpg add-on.
I had a real blast working on it as a huge fan of the games.

Always play vanilla, then mod. If you don't know the original, how do you appreciate the change?

Viccy looks pretty good, but she looks more like a paladin/blackguard than a cleric. RE: mods, SCS is a must for BG2, even on a first playthrough, I played it first without it and I regret it. With BG1 it depends whether you want to go for the original engine or not, if not, go for SCS too.

No gameplay mods necessary if that's your first time. You may try Unfinished Business for restored content.

I installed BGT, however, I’m going to play vanilla BG first then go through a second time modded.

BG1 needs SCS more than BG2 does, IMO.
Also BG1 needs Widescreen mod. Playing BG1 in original resolution is just too claustrophobic.

Would you guys say that also applies to the EE versions?

What exactly is so great about SCS anyways? I know it's supposed to improve the AI, but is the difference really that significant? Can you give examples?

It's a gamechanger. I wouldn't install every module, of course, but when you look at something like the options around pre-battle buffs and/or prepared contingency spells, you can either completely intensify the mage-battles that are already the centrepiece of BG2 with a focus on challenging gameplay, or tone it down and stick to the kinds of contingencies that you would expect these mages to realistically have, better simulating the conditions rather than, say, mages that just stand around and get one-hit-killed by the party rogue. And this is just one module, there are many changes all over from calls for help to rebalancing spell protections/debuffs chessgame.

Nothing EE does is anywhere as significant to the actual gameplay as SCS.

Sounds cool. So it allows you to customize what you want to change when you install it?

Do monsters actually use abiliteis that they wouldn't use otherwise? For example, do they call in reinforcements in a situation where they previously did not?

Ah ok, so that's what call for help means. They don't actually call in more enemies, they just move as a mob.
