My problem with a transgender character is that it's stupid and makes no sense in the universe the game takes place in. You can magic yourself into the opposite sex but then the character would no longer be a mouthpiece for the writer.

I just walked up to a bandit, tamed his bear companion and killed him with his own bear. I’m a fucking badass.

Yes, I'm sure that's the reason why you don't like it. it's definitely just because it's out of place in the truly perfect and internally consistent setting of baldur's gate. there's no other reason.

Yeah, I don't quite get it to be honest, I mean in Baldur's Gate 1 there was a belt to change your gender and there is even a spell by wild mages to change your gender so if that exist then what is the point of just pretending to be the other gender instead of just changing.

There’s no logic to it at all, that’s kind of the point. It’s a blanket political statement.

Guys would you change your gender just for a couple of nights with a magic belt, just to see what pickup lines other guys use, you know, and not to satisfy any other curiosities, you know?

I would consider that a good thing for me, there is so much combat in BG1 and the music is too bombastic for my taste, it restarts every few seconds.

But try restarting the game, might help.

Does not work combat music does not play period. The mods I have installed are BGT, BG2 fixpack, and SCS. Nothing else I’m not sure what’s breaking it but it’s irritating. Cause I like the music.

I played with a similar setup, plus BG2/Anthology tweaks and had no problems with music so I am not sure if its mod releated or on your side, sorry.

Was there music before and it stopped or no music from the very start?

No music from the start, apparently town music also doesn’t play. The only music that plays is the Inn and Title Screen. The vanilla BG has no problems so I assume it’s mods.

Sorry, didn't experience this problem before so I am not sure what's causing it since you didn't install any music mods, hopefully another more knowledgeable member helps.

Just install BGEE and stop with the mods for now. You don't know how things are supposed to be to tinker with them. You don't need mods on the first playthrough.

What a load of bullshit. This game would be so easy without SCS. Not only that but I can’t play the EE’s I’m out in the country for the summer and have shit WiFi. I deleted the EE’s and can’t reinstall:lol:

No idea about BG1, but BG2 is definitely worth playing through with mods on the first playthrough. The reason is, there are a shit-ton of mods out there that simply improve or adapt the gameplay to make it straight up better or less frustrating. Mods that change the game dramatically should definitely wait til the second playthrough, but there are a lot of things I would recommend even to a beginner on their first playthrough.

Just off the top of my head, making it so that stacks of items have much larger limits, or changing certain items that don't stack so that they do stack - massive QoL improvement for inventory management.

And that's just one example, my last Weidu log probably has over 50 little QoL fixes/improvements like that.

I wont derail the thread going into the SOD controversy, but one comment that always stood out for me (when Trent Oster was talking about it) was when he said: "If someone hijacked your game and inserted their own agenda, something not approved by the company, you’ve got to figure out what to do from an internal management perspective." Source:https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/52379/trent-osters-interview-about-dragonspear-controversies

I suppose if taken in context with the rest of what he was saying, it wasn't very specific. Maybe he was trying to appease Codexians? Surely? But in any case it that sentance raised my eyebrows slightly.

Edit Lacrymas Lilura said Corwin was the second best written character? Jesus.
Here's another thing that Trent Oster said:

I find the controversy ridiculous. Yes, we have a transgendered character. I know a number of transgendered people and they are genuine, wonderful humans. Yes, we also have a character who cracks a joke about ethics. The original Baldur’s Gate had a whole sequence about the Bob Newhart show. If this generates controversy it makes a sad statement about the world we live in.

And then he said this:

“I had played the game quite a bit and never seen that line, because it’s a rare select line,” he says. “You have a click a lot of times before he fires it off. After the reaction, I sat and clicked on him until the line appeared, and I agreed that, y’know what, this doesn’t actually make sense.”

So, as an alternative hypothesis: Trent Oster is a lying, hypocritical piece of shit.

The inventory is easily one of the worst parts of both games, any mods that help deal with it(bags of holding, extra stacking, etc.,) should be used imo
