Just wanted to mention that Metro is a bro-mentor when it comes to this game. It is pretty much smooth sailing with him on chat. :bro:

Jaedar has been asuming that role for me. I pretty much covered 8 times the amount of content with him on my stream compared to when I played alone. Simply by giving advice rather than spoiling :bro:

Maybe someone can explain this to me: when I was playing Dark Souls and watching a lot of YT videos about it, the uberdweebs that did "honorable" bowing and shit would call people with the OP munchkin gear "housewives." Why is that?
Never heard this term myself but it might refer to Mother's Mask which was most popular for flipping Havel builds before nerf of DWG Ring.

But did you manage to beat the butterfly?
Yeah, on the second try.

Had to sign off as MicoSelva headed towards Blighttown. RIP.
Yeah, not a fan of the place, to be honest. But I did reach a bonfire there before I ran out of game time for today.

I did have him buy some blooming moss clumps first, though!
Almost out of these already.

The worst part is today was probably the last day I had time to play the game for more than 30 minutes at a time. Unless some miracle happens.

He was bashing at air by halberd, switching to crossbow when it landed, and then getting into explosion when it flew again. Strangelly it didn't did its more nasty stuff as during my playtrough, so he nearly get her in the first attempt when she had about 1 HP left, he was striking, and then she blew him to pieces.

The key to going down Blighttown the normal way is that the Toxic dart guys don't respawn so it's best to find them and kill them even if you die in the process.

Minor spoiler to make things slightly tolerable in blight town:

spider shield resists the toxic effect from the darts

I used to suicide run to blight town and get the fire keeper soul when i would get to firelink shrine

i don't think i could do that now, but mentally i still remember the path and the fall down trick from the back entrance

i like that about DS; it was fun to parkour

Thanks, already using it.

I am planning a six hour DS session today. Hopefully I will not spend all that time in Blight Town.

If you got the Gargoyle Halberd use that one as well. It'll up your resistance to poison, toxic and curse quite nicely.

Blighttown is easy to love on repeat runs. Pretty damn cool area. And you get a cool light armor set that is great for Blighttown! Right after you kill area boss! Troll Software.

Another way to deal with the blow dart guys is to pre-toxify yourself by throwing dung pies. The toxic effect applied to you from throwing dung pies is significantly less damaging than the toxic effect you you'll receive from enemies and will prevent you from being re-toxified. Just keep an eye on your health bar and this will trivialize Upper Blight Town, especially the segment near the hamster wheel.

This is one of the things that I really appreciate about Dark Souls 2 - there's fewer areas that are fucking annoying. Here you got the stupid fucking poison swamp where you can't see shit and keep getting poisoned by stupid-ass mosquitoes, a stupid fucking tree where you keep falling down on your head, a stupid fucking catacomb with annoying as shit skeletors, a stupid fucking tomb where you can't see anything again, etc. etc.

Are you talking about the Gold-Hemmed Set or something?

Yes.

I dunno man, I found Shrine of Amana or Black Gulch plenty more annoying than anything in DS1. Or those equipment breaking kamikazes in Dragon Aerie.. fuck that bullshit. And don't get me even started about side areas in DLCs. Those were made by sadists.

I played the DLCs just a tiny bit because they bored me so I have no idea about that. Black Gulch was totally retard, yeah. But playing DS1 felt like trudging through shit at all times, like, you don't ever catch a brake. The first area is pretty but then almost every level is themed to be annoying. DS2 had some annoying area gimmicks too but I think much fewer in total.

They were some of the best areas in the game*. I much prefer challenging areas to challenging bosses. In fact I don't really care for bosses that much at all.

*Though the respawning mosquitoes in Blighttown swamp were utterly obnoxious; there should have been nests hidden about the place that the player could destroy to stop the spawning.

Cadmus can't git gud. Bottom of Blighttown/swamp is absurdly easy. Great Hollow is fine considering there's no reason to go there other than end game materials. Catacombs? Naga, please, I go there at level 15 to get fire weapons.

Rusted Iron ring makes it even easier to traverse the bottom of Blighttown, but I agree that it can be annoying to have those two mosquitoes constantly respawing.

They are not respawning. There is finite number of mosquitoes in blighttown.
