You shouldn't deprive yourself of all mistakes and creating your own ways how to deal with problems.

Just wanted to mention that Metro is a bro-mentor when it comes to this game. It is pretty much smooth sailing with him on chat. :bro:

Maybe someone can explain this to me: when I was playing Dark Souls and watching a lot of YT videos about it, the uberdweebs that did "honorable" bowing and shit would call people with the OP munchkin gear "housewives." Why is that?

I am not a first time player (played when the game was first released on PC, reached the dragon back then). I just suck. As for the mistakes, already experienced them too, putting points into Resistance included.

Since I have very little time, if Metro is willing to spare some of his to let me progress faster, I will not say no.

I think the bowing thing is just a way to confirm yourself as a cool guy in a place with no standard communication. The housewife thing I don't know about.

Dunno about the housewives thing, but back in the day dueling was an :obviously: affair, and it is a courtesy to bow prior to a fight.

i loled hard watching you jumping off that platform 5 meters from bell after killing those gargoyles:hahyou: now go look for the second one :salute:

you dont suck that much. you are just not good at managing your stamina when you turtle behind the shield and sometimes seem to forget what is the actual range of your weapons. but it will come with time :obviously: also managing camera while playing on controller might take time to get used to it

I agree it was pretty funny. ;)
I keep pressing B to 'cancel messages' or 'leave conversations', except it does not work like this in this game. But hey, at least I stopped accidentally drinking Estus when I wanted to attack.

I finished my first play through a few days ago with a classic shield and sword warrior but with light armor (the gold hemmed set, which looks cool as fuck and has great protection).

The game is really as good as people say. Some areas are a bit underwhelming, especially the Demon Ruins and the bosses and enemies that you fight there (except Bed of Chaos, that was cool) but everything else shines.

It is also extremely satisfactory to start a new game and realize how much you have improved, that gear and levels don't matter much (but certainly help ofc). Taurus Demon is my bitch now.

I tried a sorcerer play through immediately after but the archers in anor londo gave me too much trouble and by then I had played 6 hours a day for 2 weeks, I really needed a break, but I'm definitely coming back to it in the near future. Sorcery seemed like kind of an easy mode so I'm definitely not trying that again. I imagine pyromancy and miracles are the same? Anyway, sword and shield is where it's at.

I'm probably going to play dark souls 2 first. What is the consensus on it?
Some of the changes that I read about seem pretty much welcome.
Is it worth it?

You can't cancel gesture animations in DaS1 so "dishonorable" casuls can 1HKO BS you while you're bowing. Communities tried to enforce the bowing thing in duels. Never heard about "housewives"... We've got scrubs and casuls though.

This is a tough one... I think it's great. DaS1 oldfags will nitpick a lot of changes and not recommend it.
The only thing that sticks out is the game world. The game went through a tough development cycle so a lot of areas feel disconnected both visually and story-wise. You don't have the same world inter-connectivity.
Gameplay is way more varied though.

If you have any questions for the DSIII's devs, do put them here. There is a chance I'll meet them soon.
These come to mind:

In the stress test you could only invade players who summoned co-op phantoms. Can solo players get invaded too in the release version?

In DS1 you got teleported to NG+ after the final boss while DS2 allowed you to remain on the current NG cicle until you decided to move to NG+. Wich one for DS3?

Ask something about weapon arts for boss weapons. Like can we do some of the humaoid bosses moves?

When will we see pyromancy/new weapons?

This is definitely one of the coolest things about these games, you restart with a new char and everything goes sooo much faster and you realise just how unnecessary grinding in this game really is. I'm on my second DSII char right now and it's a shieldless low weight run, as opposed to heavier armored shielded first char which was supposed to be safer and yet i'm dying way less now and having a blast just dodging the attacks and having more stamina left to kill stuff faster.
As for your question about Dark Souls II. It does some things worse and some other things better (especially online part) and yes it's absolutely worth your time if you loved the first game. But you may wanna try getting more out of first game before moving on to second. Your choice of course.

Dark Souls 2 is a great game and definitely worth playing if you enjoyed Dark Souls. Its major failing is that it is not as good as it could have been, because they practically had to restart halfway through development and ended up with a mishmash of older and newer design elements (and the loss of those precious lighting-mechanics). Not to say that it isn't enjoyable or good, just that it isn't an improvement in this regard over Dark Souls. The DLC does not suffer from this because it is completely new content and is absolutely stellar as a result. Seriously, I'd rate that content as the best parts of the Souls series that I've played so far.

What it boils down to is how much you enjoyed the Dark Souls gameplay, because Dark Souls 2 is not a sequel that tries to change the Souls formula. It's a Souls game and a very good Souls game at that, but you'll be disappointed if you're hoping for something revolutionary.

I didn't give away much, just general advice and prompted him to try various weapons (he switched from battleaxe to halberd to beat the gargoyles). And basic stuff like luring monsters out of the church to fight them in better areas/away from the caster. Only took him four tries to defeat Gargoyles solo.

I'd hate for my first playthrough of Dark Souls to be on video. I think I hadn't touched an analog stick since the Dreamcast.

I'm nearly ending my first playthrought, and I wonder. Is it better to do DS2 after that, or Demon's souls after that?

Depends on how much of an atmospherefag you are. Demon's arguably has the best atmosphere and art direction, but the worst and least refined gameplay mechanics.
