how does one fix this horrible framerate for the non-steam version? Why is there an unskippable boss fight so early?

Presumably the unskippable boss fight is so you have a tutorial on how to fight giant slow moving bosses that will be a staple for the rest of the game, in case you were one of the many, many retards who figured he could just walk forward and alternately mash attack and healing pots until he won like in most modern games.

Why would you be butthurt over it? The whole asylum is very clearly a tutorial, there are help messages plastered everywhere and all the enemies are piss-easy.

It's unexpected but the bigger problem is the framerate

Can't help you there. Only time it gave me framerate issues was when fighting big furry monsters with the blur filter disabled.

Never had any problems with framerate. It has really low GFX card demands. Try to play it offline and apply unlife.

Non-steam version? As in the old GFWL version? If it still works and still patches itself to the latest version I guess you can find the last version of GFWL dsfix (2.2?).

If it's pirated I'm surprised they didn't integrate dsfix.

So, Painted World of Ariamis was pretty cool. Except those bloated guys exploding in toxin. Seriously, fuck them.
Either use magic, bows or hit them and jump back immediately. For the rest they're a pain, yes.

Did you find the King in Yellow while in there?

You can backstab them for a non-toxifying clean kill IIRC.

I remember finding painted world after having done pretty much everything else and it feeling like a huge gift. A whole new real zone? No shit?

In retrospect having like .5 overall decent areas to explore in the DS1 DLC compared to painted world sucked.

another non-toxifying method is to kill them with fire (i.e. pyromancies, a fire/chaos upgraded weapon or quelaags furysword)

Had to check who you mean, but yes, he was pretty easy to kill too.

As for the bloatheads, I ended up stabbing them with a spear from behind my trusty Spider Shield.

I decided to spare Priscilla, after she scolded me for invading her 'peaceful' world and told me to jump off a cliff. I guess I might have weakness for pretty dragon girls who are clearly insane.[/quote]

If you decide to cut off her fluffy tail you can get a weapon that can deal a nice amount of bleed damage. But hers is just about the most difficult tail to cut off. Her soul can give you a scythe that does a lot of bleed damage as well, but you'll want that shield that gives you bleed resistance you found earlier on the bridge because it'll cause bleed damage on you as well.

In my experience there was no reason to ever use a greatbow in DS besides knocking other people off tightrope walks and then posting a video of it on Youtube

this knight in undead borg is giving me a hard time. I don't know if Bloodborne's combat feels more refined than Dark Souls or if its just that my controller sucks ass.

If you can't beat a Black Knight after already having completed a Souls game, then let's just say the problem doesn't exactly lie with the combat mechanics.
