I now own a legitimate copy of Dark Souls. Now, I wonder if I should use my saves from the pirated copy I've been playing or start a new game. The real loss would be 2hrs of playtime. I also welcome help from any codex user.

is DS2 a better port than DS?

Two hours is a drop in the bucket, just suck it up and start fresh.

Dark Souls 2's port is a bit better, but the game itself doesn't hold a candle to its predecessor.

Dark Souls 2 runs surprisingly well even on my potato computer, probably even better than the first game.

Best beginner tip ever: don't read any tips about the game until you've finished it once. Unspoiled is the way to go. Oh except this (because it helps stay unspoiled) try playing offline first, so you don't have player messages making all the hidden/secret stuff too obvious.

for DS1 only tips you need is upgrading weapon>upgrading armor, dont level Resistance and kill the dogs first( you will know what dogs :smug: )

lol i can barely keep 30 fps in DS1 when DS2 is smooth and silky 60 fps on the same notebook:argh:

Finished my first playthrough of the Steam version. Had some issues with delayed mouse button input that I can't remember from the GfWL version, might be Windows 10 related though. And yeah, compared to DSII it runs like shit with fps drops all over the place.

They should transfer, if you find them and move to the correct directory.

Son of a bitch this game is good but fuck this game
:rage:
I'm playing well now, only dying twice, got the drake sword and killing mini bosses and enemies easily. I've even gotten the hand of parrying.

I literally beat this overweight black bitch boss in one go and then this magician/summoner thing keeps shooting me. I go and try to summon someone to play with me and the fucking game crashes :argh:
I hope I don't lose my progress:negative:
I was invaded but the guy so I was still a noob and I barely had any health left and just spared me before the boss fight:shredder:

The Drake Sword is useful for only a couple of levels before you replace it with something else. Sure, it does 200 damage but that's a static 200 that like the Codex, does not scale to your level.

I have been to the ghost place but left it. I'm in the garden place and I have yet to find any good armor or better weapon than the drake sword that I can equip. I really don't want to use my weapon upgrades so soon.

The drake sword is fine for a long time, and by the time you do need something better the game puts another weapon that's good even at the very low base str/dex it takes to wield it in your path.

Since you almost certainly read a spoiler to know about the drake sword, I'll just tell you: In Sen's fortress you'll find a lightning spear +1. If you don't have anything better in mind you can easily smith all your titanite chunks into it and beat the non-DLC game.

The ghost place is New Londo Ruins, not to be confused with Anor Londo. If you're in Darkroot Garden, there are two excellent armor sets in the back area and one in the front area. And you probably missed a good weapon in the cemetery near the Firelink Shrine. Though really you shouldn't need to worry so much about armor or weapons yet. Did you complete the Undead Parish and then head downward, or did you ignore the larger church in the Parish and head straight into Darkroot? And what are you stuck on?

Do not worry about spending Titanite Shards and/or Large Titanite Shards to upgrade stuff, as you can always buy more of them (Titanite Chunks are harder to get) in unlimited quantities. Find a weapon that fits you (for me it was Halberd, at least in the first 1/3 of the game) and upgrade it to +5 (or higher). Also, if you are using a shield, take one with 100% physical damage reduction and high stability and upgrade it too. I would even say that shield has priority over weapon. Armor is less important to upgrade, IMO, since your focus should really be on not getting damaged in the first place.

I beat the gargoyles and all the enemies in the church. I don't know whats supposed to be downward in undead parish. What weapon in firelink? I cleareed all the skeletons and looted the place.

Have you found the key in front of the gargoyle church? Try to explore what that key opens.

Edit: are you sure you killed all skeletons in Firelink? What weapon did you use not to make them stand up again? :) I think that If you really looted the cemetery, you'd know what weapon the guys were referring to.

So I reached the butterfly boss and I've failed twice because the firebombs fall when thrown. I'll try again later.

The ones underground get back up and don't give souls.

What key?

Ah, the Catacombs. Find the guys who throw fireballs at you and kill those: skeletons stop getting up after that.

As you go through the Undead Parish you'll run into a key that you can use on a door opposite to where you came out on the bridge after beating the Taurus Demon.
