Disappointed that I couldn't get the giant sword but whatever.

you can. just don't consume Sif's soul and you'll be able to get it not long after beating Sen's fortress

I'll be fighting the hydra soon and I'm skipping sen fortress currently for the DLC area.

you can't. you need to beat the area after Sen's and collect an item to access the DLC[/quote]

So I decided to take a bit of a break from DS2 SotFS because grinding for loyce souls is getting boring already and figured I would go back and beat DS1. Going back to the PS3 copy I own makes me really appreciate the technical decisions in DS2 a heck of a lot more. The framerate feels like crap after DS2's 60FPS and the 8 way dodging is getting old fast. The framerate actually made me buy it on PC just so I could mod it higher.

So are there any good mods besides DSfix and the Mouse fix? Like some decent graphical mods or interface mods?

there's one or two that replaces some of the most obvious low-res textures, one that fixes the superlow-res trees at the bridge from the Parish to Sen's, one that tones down the lava so you don't go blind at Lost Izalith. that's what i remember (will provide links when i wake up [if somebody else doesn't] as i'm too sleepy to search for them :))

Your boy has finally beat Sens fortress and made it to Anor Londo. I probably died 50 times in sens fortress, mainly due to falling and failing to kill the last two prowling demons, I still couldn't do it.

I beat the iron golem but the fight was two easy with the help of two summons.
Got both golem and the fat armor.

Oh yeah, Anor Londo is beautiful

I'm not a magic user.

Hydra boss was one of the worst boss fights so far. Man, it was tedious as hell, the hydra attacks couldn't hit me and the hydra head kept getting stuck in inaccessible areas

How would we know what you consider good? Browse these http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/top/
I already looked on there and came here when I saw about 6 or 7 graphical mods that supposedly change a ton. Was mostly looking for some second opinions on them here if anyone had them.

Yeah I saw those before. I'm still debating it but I would need to get to those areas first to see them without mods.

<- no summons on first playthrough master race, laughing at filthy summon peasants
Bosses have significantly more health with offline summons, and summons tend to be killed before 1/10 of boss health is lost.

That's what happened when I fought the gaping anus with solaire and lotric. They both died before even knocking down 1/10th of his health. Truthfully, the only boss I fought in which the summons were useful were the gargoyles because solaire was op as fuck and the iron golem because the guy I summoned had lightning magic or some shit.

The gargoyles are only difficult if you fight them for the first time, and summoning both Sunbro and Lautrec (yes, you can do that if you know how) makes them have a lot more HP and makes the fight pretty fun and somewhat challenging.

Oh, and when fighting dragons (and the Gargoyles), have you tried hitting them in the tail? Not too close to the base, but not so far back you can barely hit it.
