Amazing? Hardly.

What, you thought getting shot at by giant skeletons you couldn't see to be too unfair? Cry moar scrub lel.

Personally, i loved it so much that i actually tried to go through it without using any light source at all.

It is one of the less commented parts of the design of the Souls series; having contrasting levels and tone for thise levels...

Yeah it's definitely a major strength of DS1 and something I'm looking forward to in DS3.

Tomb of Giants was amazing.

I like it too. Really nailed the feeling of dangerous exploration. That's how dungeons should be, not just fucking loot farms. Plus it's a good reason to craft the Golem Axe. Vengence is truly sweet.

Didn't like AL i think it was supposed to be one big area but they decided to put that bonfire right after archers fucking up how it is played. So opening those doors is completely needles as you will never actually use those doors unlike in scenario in which there wouldn't be that bonfire.

At least Sen's fortress had "hidden" bonfire so most of people had to go through whole place if they didn't beat iron golem.
Deeps/Blightown combo was amazing. Especially since you didn't have fast travel at that point.
Tomb of Giants also was great especially since it contained fun events with npcs and those dog sceletons were fucking hard to fight. Though i got lamp from catacoobs already so it wasn't that great for me first time like it supposed to.

Going from Scholar of the First Sin back to Dark Souls 1 is a bitch. My character is so super specialized in DS2 that its crazy and it makes me realize how low my health as in DS1.
Blighttown is something I'm really disliking mainly because the novelty wears off after the first time and this lack of early fast travel does stand out a lot. I also miss how open DS2 was in the order of levels you can tackle. The huge variety of gear in DS2 is also missed and the good UI is missed too.

It's a matter of preference, but I much prefer not having fast travel, because if you do, as you do in DS2, you never end up feeling truly stuck in a bad situation as you do in DS1 during Blighttown especially. Also as for how open each game is, I think they're just about equally open, since DS2 offers you a linear path halfway through and DS1 branches up halfway through instead. As for gear and UI, yeah, DS2 had better UI and gear options.

I would say that other than a few UI tweaks I find everything to be better in the original Dark Souls; DS2 feels slower, more gamey in the sense that stats like evasion affect gameplay too much instead of relying on player skill, the graphics while shinnier have not the same art design...it us still good but not as good

DS2 is way faster in movement and attack speed it has slower animations for healing, backstabbing and magic and shit like that. I'd say a lot of the art design is much stronger plus lets be serious here, the DS2 DLC > most of DS1 and the DLC itself is about 30 - 40 hours altogether and I liked them more than artorias of the abyss. Artorias might have had good boss fights but so does the DLC.

I finished ds 2 once, and could never bring myself to ever play it again. Everything from level design to texture work was so awful. Boletarian Palace just shits all over any area in ds2

IM LITERALLY SHAKING!

I started my NG+run of beating all bosses with no summons. I have now made it to Anor Londo and so far, Quelaag has been the most annoying boss. She caught me off-guard with the one shot AOE attack too many times. The iron golem is really easy but he got me with the retarded hit detection grab. I will end up fighting ornstein and smough by myself. Hopefully, I can do the same for Artorias, Seath and Kalameet because they were the most difficult bosses for me.

The hardest boss in my recent no summors playthrough was Manus. Queelag was easy for me although she did give me trouble during my first run through. Iron golem was easy as fuck both playthroughs. Ornstein and smough gave me a fuckload of trouble in my 1st playthrough (seriously, like 20 tries), but not so much on my 2nd (took me 3 tries, but I already knew the drill this time). O&S is such an amazing fight though. I hope DS3 can give us something like it.

The most similar I can think of in DS2 is the gank squad maybe, and that was not that fun, mostly just took me running all over the place trying to separate them which leads to the fight just taking forever, and they were kinda dumb. That said, DS2 did have Fume Knight.

I found Manus to be very challenging, he came close to killing me on my first playthrough but I beat him on my first try. Iron Golem is easy, I just fucked up by rolling off a cliff. I don't think I even tried to fight O&S by myself, I heard about their reputation and just summoned a real player.

Replayed it, killed everything besides Kalameet and Manus (went for Dark Lord ending and forgot it sends you straight to NG+). Still as amazing as I remembered it to be and miles better than 2.

Yeah of course. Such an excellent game. I don't expect DS3 will be nearly as good, but one can hope.

ornstein is such a bitch though. This boss fight would be super easy one-on-one with either of them but ornstein is just annoying as hell. Three times I came close to beating him, just so he can do some gay lightning move. I'm gonna become a darkwraith now, so that I can have unlimited invasion.

Beat Sif on the first try. Lol, it's too easy. Moonlight butterfly on first try, beat stray demon on second try. Now off to four kings.
