Guise is there any way to do a plunging attack on the Stray Demon in the Undead Asylum? My char seems too squishy to take him on otherwise.
Nope, just stay behind him the whole fight so you can evade the AOE and you are good to go.
Usually get blasted before that point but yeah, I'll give it a shot.

I had some difficulty with him on my first try until I basically hugged his butt.

It's kind of sad that so many otherwise intimidating boss fights become a bit of a joke when you realize the specific part of their crotch you need to hug.

He only does it if u answer 'yes' when he asks if you are a cleric. Or something like that.

No. He'll rotate the bridge no matter what you answer. The trick is that you will only see him in the Catacombs if you go there early (specifically before killing the capra demon).

Usually get blasted before that point but yeah, I'll give it a shot.

Don't lock on to him when the fight starts since it makes it harder to run. Run straight towards him (and optionally roll right before the explosion) and the explosion should miss you. If you stay close to him he'll often get stuck repeating his butt stomp move over and over and you can attack him safely in between each one.

Enjoy the Revolution! Another revolution around the sun that is.
Hugging Stray Demon's butt is a good advice but it's sometimes tricky to do in practice since he jumps around and sometimes lands in a way you can't get behind him in time or at all. He shouldn't take more than three, four attempts in any case.

He also really loves to loop himself to death by doing the flying buttslam over and over.

Bleed works extremely well on him if you have the reinforced club/uchi/jagged ghost curved sword/whatever.
One time I fought him, he kept looping his AoE magic blast, that same game, when fighting Hydra, it kept its distance even when AT THE VERY EDGE OF THE WATER CLIFF, spamming its spitting attack, I think I started anew and never experienced those problems again.

Fuck that run man.

Patches will always try to kill you with the bridge switch in Catacombs. His dialog options only influence whether or not you keep him alive later as a merchant.

This is peculiar then:

I guess its a glitch cause the dialog afterwards is the same as if he flips it.

Finished it last night with the help of a romanian fellow named The Mask. I have to say I can't remember last time I was so hooked on a game. I will start a new char with the purpose of playing the dlc and killing all the NPC's. For now, I'm starting DS2 Sotfs... I played only with KB+ Mouse and I can't imagine playing with a controller.
Thank God for the modders :DSFix, DSCM, DSMfix.

He's flipped it on me before after saying "no" to the cleric question. The game has to actually path his character to the switch and then pull it so it strikes me as something that might sometimes get fucky with the 60fps hack.

Humble Bundle currently has it at 4.99€/$. So I decided to fire this motherfucker up again for the first time on pc and at last play the DLC.

A couple of questions:

1. I guess Dsfix works. Will I get banned for using it?

2. Will I find anyone online? Do I have to do something to find more people or have better connectivity?

I once didn't removed Dark souls 2 from the inventory and played it, back then I thought it was the greatest shitty shitshow that ever was shat out by mankind. Then a month ago I decided to buy Dark Souls 1 for 5 eurobucks to give the series another try. And now for some reason I'm fucking playing dark souls 3 after having finished 1+2 in a month. I have a problem, guys. It's rather addictive once you start playing extremely conservatively with your souls. The DLC-difficulty cliff is annoying though, base game bosses are a cakewalk once you spent 4 hours wiping over and over again on some fucking optional arcane smelter demon that doesn't take damage from your spells.

Fuck that smelter demon. Seriously.

It's like adult Zelda, come to think of it. Except you only have one and a half heart and you lose all your rupees when you die.

So, I played the game a lot this weekend, coming straight from a full playthrough of DS3.

I won't say something that has't been said. The game nails atmosphere and level design in the first half, but there are some things I don't miss, like these long walks from the bonfires (I'm looking at you Anor Londo) or shitty hitboxes especially in grab attacks. Or bosses that have extremely limited movesets. Also rolling feels kinda weird, they've done an excellent job in improving this aspect.

Souls Series - Metallica comparison:

Demon's Souls - Kill'em All (Great ideas, raw and popularity comes from word of mouth)
Dark Souls - Ride the Lightning (Some of the best ideas ever, somewhat raw in production, a couple of filler areas/songs)
Dark Souls II - ...And Justice for All (Better production, long, sometimes disjointed, requires multiple playthroughs/listenings to be fully appreciated)
Dark Souls III - Black Album (The best production, some catchy areas/songs, best sales ever, but feels more professional than passionate)

Maybe Bloodborne is Garage Inc, a cover of their ideas of From and their influences of Metallica.

Get PVP Watchdog here: http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/849/?
Shows how many nodes you're connected to though it takes around up to 10 minutes for some to show up.

It's very helpful. I also found DSCM here: http://www.nexusmods.com/darksouls/mods/1047/?
It expands nodes. Just run it and then, run DS. I invaded in a couple of seconds a lot of times, it was great.

It was pretty dumb, and goes from inconsequential to actively annoying whenever you want to roll while running. At least if you hold block while running, you'll roll rather than jump every time.

This is kind of a tangent, but honestly, playing Bloodborne has made me suspect that what we perceive as iteration in From's game design across the series is actually them just changing things randomly for the sake of it. Case in point: Bloodborne goes back to jumping with the roll button. I thought they learned their lesson in DeS about needing to kill a bunch of easy dudes before fighting a boss being tedious as fuck (talking about Tower Knight), but then Bloodborne has a bossfight which does the same exact shit. I mean, why?

That one is a bit more elaborate, because you can ignore them and try to get the greatwood itself to kill them; they also keep spawning throughout phase 1, so they're clearly intended to be an ongoing hazard. It's still pretty annoying, but at least it has a purpose other than wasting your time, unlike Tower Knight's crossbowmen or TOR's bell maidens.

If greatwood gets any hate i dont get it... its easy as fuck, its a tree, trees burn, theres like 3 or 4 items that give fire damage and the
ashes before you reach the boss, kinda obvious. Fucking Greatwood melts to any +0 starting weapon with flame enhancements.

I can beat this game doing absolutely everything, collecting everything + DLC - everything without dying once. In 15 hours.

I'm pretty shocked how underrated Helberd is. For PVE it's easy mode. Black Knight Helberd is overpowered, but you need to invest a lot in your stats + you will be without much protection if you want to move fast.
