This is what happens when you have wannabe movie writers doing the script for your game.

This is way more the core problem than I feel most people understand. Not even just the writers, but the designers and such as well. They all want to be Spielberg, not Spector or Meier.

Kojima made arguably the first iteration of this bullshit with his Raiden bait and switch with MGS2.
Still pissed about that and it its been almost two decades.

That’s the worse part. You make this character that the audience has no discernible connection with, have her get her revenge and live it out with almost no consequence, and the character who decides to be on the moral high ground ends up all alone.

If there ever was a message, it’s that having the moral high ground is for losers.

The only message you should take away from the story is that the era of the gays is over and the era of the trannies has begun.
TLoU3 will be about a dogfucker killing abbie for killing a dog in TLoU2

They intentionally made:
Abby is a dog lover <--- good person
Ellie is killing the dogs <--- bad person.

I don't think there will be a Tlou3 after this fiasco but who knows.

So how many codexers have played it?

You finally got the memo? No, we don't need to play it to know it's shit.
This but non-ironically. The one pearl of wisdom from Rich Evans of RedLetterMedia had about video games is that all story-based games have rich, detailed story documents, but when it comes to the gameplay, the pitch is "Eh, its a third-person shooter". No real thought to it is given beyond that. If you like that kind of thing, there are dozens of other games with stories that aren't completely trash, just regular decline.

Story telling in games can never be emotionally profound, nor profound as social commentaries, for a bunch of reasons I don't have the inclination to do an effortpoast on right now, but a lot of it has to do with inherent limitations of the medium, how the medium is interacted with by consumers, and of course the less popular admittance that videogames are inherently a childish activity, and videogamers are more often than not emotionally and socially stunted to varying degrees. Typically the ability of games to produce emotional responses are quite shallow. Mafia 1, for example, is compelling to play through to see how the story unfolds, but when I look back on my life the experience of playing Mafia 1 is not at all an important or significant part of my life, ranking somewhere below getting food poisoning and shitting and puking my guts up for 24 hours. And thats a well written and directed game, so try to imagine where the typical shit ranks.

As such, the best thing to do with storytelling in games is the exact same best thing to do with gameplay: make it entertaining/engaging, and not try to be anything more. Guys like Cuckmann are dime a dozen in creative industries and their pretentiousness and narcissism far outstrips their technical ability. They want their shit to be Citizen Kane but they fail at the baby steps; they can't make you engaged even with a simple story. Seriously, "how much is that doggy in the window" is more compelling than this soap opera drama shit that every AAA game tries to force on you these days, like harvey weinstein insisting you watch him pull his pud and finish in a ficus - its not quite rape, but it's something approaching it.

I will tell them this: "Nothing has changed. All is as it was written. Beware of the dawn of the Tranny Age".

Were there people who thought the leaks were fake? Lol.
And then it turned out one of the trailers was fake instead.
