Two Private Division games are being announced at The Game Awards today - this one, and Ancestors: The Humankind Odyssey. Earlier this year, PD said that Ancestors would likely be the first game they reveal: https://rpgcodex.net/forums/index.p...abel-from-take-two.119573/page-2#post-5716111

Reasonable inference: If a release date is announced for Ancestors but not for The Outer Worlds, we can assume that The Outer Worlds is coming out after Ancestors.

I didn't mean the order they're announcing it at the event. At the time that article was published, it sounded like Ancestors was planned to be announced/revealed to the world before all the other games - as in weeks or months before, not before them during the same day.

And the reason that was the plan is almost certainly because Ancestors is coming out first.

And I don't even like Deadfire, but really it should have won by virtue of being the only RPG on that nomination.
