The Outer Worlds: Spacer's Choice Edition - Obsidian's first-person sci-fi RPG set in a corporate space colony

This game is great and the reactivity and C&C shits all over Disco Elysium. The writing does too because it isn't pretentious and trying to be something more than it is--a fun sci fi serial rpg romp. Can actually role play and affect the world around you in meaningful ways which even changes quests, can even choose to kill whomever you want and it's taken into account. It is as intensely replayable as the original Fallout and destined to be a classic talked about for years.

That's .sig material.

My impressions after spending most of my Sunday on this:

-Glad to see a return to smaller hub based level design.

-Combat is dictated by enemy/weapon level. I had no HUGE trouble exploring the maps BEFORE completing quests to level up and match the enemies' equipment.

-Itemization is pretty poor. Instead of unique, or well placed loot, you find duplicates of same weapons all over the place. Emphasis here is on increasing weapon damage via mods and tinkering @ workstations (basically spending money to up the damage). Itemization is easily the weakest element in this for me.

-Dialogue has been enjoyable, frequently putting a smile on my face. I like the companions and the overall whimsical tone of the game. I'm surprised by the amount of banter the compas have with NPCs and I definitely felt the urge to reload and roll with different compas to see new interactions.

-VO is well done, art style is colorful and lively. Love them puffballs <3

My favorite type of post in this thread is how everybody was promising to "kill all the dykes and SJWs lols", but instead they ended up obediently running small errands for a lesbian couple because they don't want Parvati to be sad.
Your comment would be on point if you could, like in Fallout 2 where you can shoot gun trader who uses kids to steal things for him and nobody cares; or shoot whole Slavers guild and nobody cares; or shoot whole family in Reno, and others just say thank you;

but generally if you shoot anyone, even say companion who didn't join you yet, whole area aggroes on you.

Technically you can stealth kill some people, but it is not the same and you don't really get a satisfaction from other NPCs talking about it or their enemy rep rising or something like that.
Some people also reported problems of area being infinitely hostile even after exiting/entering and re-loading, so whatever developers promised about lol you can just shoot that dude wasn't fully delivered.

I for example killed annoying doctor lady for Nokia quest and well, nothing happened. I also wanted to kill vegetable granny but her people aggro instantly; and if you leave and return planet, she vanishes forever to only return in ending slides.

Yeah very well said. I noticed this quite a bit in my playthrough. It was very bothersome. The game does offer you the option to kill people and there's even reactivity for it for notable person, but it's like it wholeheartedly expects and wants you to NOT kill people when it doesn't want you.

I like how retro his desktop looks, although the OCDer in me cringes from the lack of folders in which to group all those shortcuts and files.

On second thoughts Jenkem I take that back. You're a brave man for liking this game so openly and so fully. If more of us had the courage to do that, RPGCodex would be a kinder, friendlier place.
