It kinda sucks but it is kinda great too. More games should do quests like it did. Sure you can cheat or you can like...play the game and try to figure it out. Mainly I loved the story though so Youtube wins again. Youtube I think has killed adventure games for sure.

I've been replaying this to get to the content I missed, there are still people playing it, even on Kingsmouth, I frequently get to see two to five people playing on the same session as me, so it isnt a depressive ghost town yet, however they basically crippled the game mechanics with a sledgehammer and turned the end game into Diablo Immortal, the gameplay is basically you winning on autopilot until you getting to the end game then it becomes a Hellraiser version of hell where you are fucked on the most painful ways possible by monetisation.

If anyone is still interested, just assume you are playing a well written walking simulator and pretend the end game doesnt exist, for your sanity. Youtube is indeed the smart move but I wish to still properly see the areas I missed.

The leveling seems fun to go through again. Have any pics of your character to share?

there's like one person i know who genuinely believes in their heart of hearts that the devs are gonna roll out the congo zone and somehow its more depressing than watching people literally die in the academagia forums waiting for academagia 2

You can play Secret World Legends for free. Which does suck on account of the devs removing the more freeform and interesting combat and level up system for a much more boring one with preset builds and no build diversity. In addition to removing end game dungeons, truancating the interesting puzzle missions, intergrating DLC missions in a way that snaps continuity in half, and being abandoned blatantly unfinished.

It's much harder to get The Secret World but it still works, the servers are still up, people still play it, and it's s much better game in every way. The mystery and plot builds more gradually and diagetically. Even zone progression had more thought put into it. If you can find a way to get back into The Secret World you'll quickly realize just how much Secret World Legends butchered the game.

Oh and there's a Secret World TTRPG coming out that's blatantly a low budget 5e clone. Which shows how much Funcom don't care.

I mean, we care enough that both the original writer of the game worked on it and I spent a bunch of time making sure it doesn't shit on the lore.

But goddamn someone bumped the thread again.

You didn't care enough to find a ruleset that would fit Secret World very well. You just picked 5E because it's easy. There is nothing stopping you from using an open version of Basic. Which already has baked in mechanics for investigation and magic spells that are more of a fit for Secret World. Or even better making your own custom ruleset that would fit the theme and enable the mechanics to actually represent the feeling and intention of Secret World. Okay fine you wrote lore for your half arsed TTRPG that someone else had already written for the game do you want a round of applause for that?

And don't bloody tell me that it's too hard or takes too much time to make a better TTRPG. There's an official Myst TTRPG that used FATE. And took great care to replicate the mechanics and feel of the Myst games whilst also expanding the lore. FUCKING MYST! A game with barely any gameplay. Hell, rip off some of that TTRPG's ideas and you're already half way to making a Secret World TTRPG anyway with the puzzle solving mechanics.

That's true. I wasn't involved in the project at all when it was pitched or authorized or licensed by other people in the company. I was just checking it after the contract was signed.

The reason they choose 5e is because its the only system people are going to buy enmasse.

Who the fuck cares about Basic and Fate when using 5e will allows you to sell double the amount

No one who doesn't already know what Secret World is, is buying a Secret World TTRPG. Especially with the complete lack of marketing this game has. Oddly enough, 5e parasites cling to 5e. And nothing else. Even if it's also 5e.

This is still online? Truly a testament to the retardation of the average MMO player. Funcom goes out of their way to fuck over their players, removing old content to sell it later as DLC is the kind of shit that not even Blizzard would try... And they still manage to keep their players.

the funniest part is, funcom swapped the new game's steam page into the old one, keeping stats and reviews, so since the beginning the new game had decent score and players with thousand of hours poured in already.

As I mentioned it before and I want this thread to stay alive, would anyone like a guide to downloading and playing The Secret World? There's still a small community who play it. And I could organize a meetup in game quite easily.

I already play The Secret World but I'd be happy to participate in an in game meet up/lynch mob if one is organized. Templars rise up.
