Maybe about 8 days? That's good news, though. Doesn't seem like I'm going to find a summer job at the moment, so...

Also, I get the feeling I wasn't supposed to fight Lord Galiere at low levels. Oh well. :smug:

Goddammit I'm actually farming General Yamo's guards now and there's no end in sight.

Um. After farming Yamo's guards for... a while, the entire Umpani city is hostile now. Is this reversible? It's not like I have anything against them, it was just convenient to commit genocide on them.

You wasn't supposed to fight him at all

Err. Entire city? Even Supply Sergeant? BTW, did you hit bullseye on firing range three times?

I think I got three bullseyes with one character, can't remember. Haven't checked the supply sergeant, but the recruitment sergeant and General Yamo are both hostile (just fought my way to Yamo's door to see if he was hostile too, he was). I guess it's not game-breaking, but I'd like to talk to him for a while and see what he has to say before turning him into XP fodder :(

It's sad indeed. I think some guy in the New City can make you friends with Umpani again. Or not, probably it's only if you attacked wandering Umpani NPCs.

The best thing the Umpani have to offer is the firearms personal skill which you already gained (and even this isn't essential, I didn't need this skill at all), so don't worry.

The fight with Lord Galiere can be avoided if you do something in New City first, but killing him for XP and loot is definitely not a bad idea.

Which levels did you reach now with the farming ? Combat gets boring when you're too high level.

Hi, I did a quick search of the forums and couldn't find anything regarding my problem. Sorry if this is necroposting or whatever. One of my characters changed classes from valkyrie to monk and her candle shortened dramatically. The candle represents the amount of time the character has to live, right? Is this something I should be concerned about or is it okay to continue? I've changed classes with other characters as well, and would like to do it again in the future, but this character's candle is really short now and I'd just like to know how much of an impact this will have on the game. Thanks a lot!

Edit: Want to clarify that I'm playing 7, not 6.

Hey, Umpani are there to be slaughtered by the spiders anyway, so it's not like you're missing much by killing them first.

Except Thermal Pineapple which is supposed to be a single-use item, but can be recharged like any wand, yay. But you can quickly farm enough xp from Yamo's guards to become a six-pack of ever-recharging Thermal Pineapples of your own.

The beauty of Wiz7 is that you don't have to follow *any* kind of script. Just walk around, kill shit, explore and seek clues. Yamo's quest, spider hatchery, blah, just walk in and kill everyone.

IIRC candle represents the number of resurrections a character can survive. Which is probably connected to constitution, or endurance, or whatever this stat is labeled as in Wizardry. Assuming monks don't have constitution requirements, it dropped all the way back to racial base, hence shorter candle.

Or maybe I am making things up. Either way, unless you do plan on dying and resurrecting instead of loading your faithful savegame, you shouldn't worry about those candles at all.

That worked :)
Explains why the magic shopkeeper hates me, as well - I'm guessing he's sided with the T'Rang, who've been hostile to me since the start for some reason.

You travelled with Umpani, right? K'Borra can help you betray Umpani for fun and profit.

And, BTW, do you completed Munkharama?

Hm, I have the card you're supposed to give the Umpani supply sergeant - IUFSTFTUFS card, right? - but I can't work out how to show him it in order to get the blunderbuss. "Use" doesn't work, and "give" just gets knocked back saying "you need that".

Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. Yeah, I noticed that the candle grew a little as the character gained some levels. What a bizarre mechanic.

Hey all,

I was thinking of doing a Wizardry 6-8 single-party playthrough. I am reading up on switching classes here and other places.I have one question:

In Wiz 6-8, are you limited to how many character levels you can have? If there is a limit, what is it?

There is level cap in the Wiz8, but I don't think Wiz6-7 have any. Anyway, you need shitload of experience just for 20 lvl.
Wiz8 is complicated business, it borked class switching very badly. Multiclasses are crippled severly.

So switch classes heavily in 6 and 7 and then choose a class for 8 and remain that class would be your best advice, then? I am not trying to completely powergame but I don't want to be screwed later. Any idea on the level limit in 8? I didn't see that in any of the guides I read or I didn't read far enough. Thanks in advance.

Yes, you get it right. Level cap is around 25 or 30 for Wiz8, I think.
