Never, hopefully, but so far it's slated for 2014.

I really dislike the voice actor change.

Recently, several upcoming games (Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Metal Gear Solid 5 and now also Thief 4) have opted for the "motion capture experience" ditching well established voice actors allegedly on the grounds that the actor also needs to perform his own stunts. I think that's a pretty lame excuse. It should be perfectly feasible to do have one actor perform the action-heavy motion capture sequences and another one to provide the actual voice.

"jumping breaks immersion"...Shit, even Laidlow wouldn't utter such things.
You know what will break immersion? Not being able to jump over a chest high wall. Or climbing up to a shoulder high window.

They could have just put a wall there. How is that different? Essentially, you're not going to get anywhere the level designer doesn't want you to.
The difference is that if I saw a wall, i know i can't get over it. While I know that in the previous Thief, I could climb over obstacles like a window.

Wait for them to announce viktoria, the female 12 year old companion that will obey your orders to break walls, open grates and create ladders on doors/grates/passageways/ledges otherwise garrett would not be able to pass through normal thievering, or places that have no contextual button prompts.

Don't worry: she is invincible and you won't have to protect her. But you have to wait 5 minutes while she opens a door, and you must remain undetected for the whole time to get full XP.

It can't possibly be worse than Human Revolution, can it?
Are you trying to fulfill some kind of edgy quota today? Did Skyway get to you?

Disagree with you twice on a day and I'm "trying to fulfill some kind of edgy quota", eh?

I've never hidden my disdain for Human Revolution. I haven't been following Thi4f's development that much and was wondering whether people thought it would be worse than that.

If it wasn't clear that was meant mostly in jest. Defending publishers, then hating hr which most people think is a ok game.

For the record thi4f looks worse than hr, and the thief series was a higher starting point mechanically as well, so it's like double the rape.

HR is only considered "decent" because it was better than the vast majority of shit-tier popamole that's been released in the past 10 years. By any reasonable metric it was a linear shitty game, but to the common denominators who've grown up slobbering to COD clones it was a breathtaking exercise in player freedom.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Could you list some bullet points for us lazy fucks?

"Everything is shit" should be enough.

but whatever:
- no jumping except for on places that are specifically marked as jumpable, to prevent players from falling down a narrow ledge cause a master thief isn't that clumsy
- FOCUS MODE that lets you see loot, enemies, patrol routes, and make cool finishing moves on guards because Garrett is the master thief and having the game depend on player skill would ruin that feeling if you suck at playing
- no rope arrows except at certain places that the developers have designed to be rope-arrow-able; of course, they have some obvious visual cue so you actually notice this shit
- lots and lots of other handholding crap
- utter rape of one of the best settings ever designed for a computer game; Hammerites? Pagans? Mechanists? LOLNOPE, instead it's a generic story about a corrupt Baron and an oppressed populace, while the classic Thief factions haven't even been mentioned
- everything is shit

The key difference between this and HR is that the original Desu Ex was already a shit game while Thief wasn't :troll:

I love how AAA gaming is quickly becoming like those thingies in Cyberpunk settings that you plug into your brain and let you experience someone else's memories and awesomeness. BE A SUPER THIEF! No skill required. Satisfaction guaranteed. Next in line a historical game about the battle of Thermopylae. Experience being A SUPER SPARTAN! If you lose before the third day a time paradox revives your dudes, destroy the enemies that would have been destroyed, and everyone praises your awesome commanding skills.

Well of course, how can you have IMMERSHUN without including racism, gays, feminism, socialism, and a whole lot of other modern issues, which are completely out of place in a quasi medieval - steampunk setting

I am brofisting Black Cat a little too much for my comfort today.

From what i have seen, there is no such thing as brofisting her too much. Sooner or later I will see something i disagree with, but until then... fist on!
