It's comical how the frog hackjobs at Eidos Montreal wanna have their cake and eat it too.

I've never hidden my disdain for Human Revolution. I haven't been following Thi4f's development that much and was wondering whether people thought it would be worse than that.

Well, even if HR was even worse than you think it is, it would be a lot better than thiaf... if you consider what is known about it.

This is such a non-issue. You can absolutely jump and move through the world fluidly and freely. The game has been designed specifically to achieve this goal. You're looking at this like you're losing a feature, but the reality is that you're gaining dozens more.

Anybody claiming the game will somehow be ruined because you can't free jump, when there is no reason to be jumping, would have to agree that Gran Tourismo is ruined because you can't choose to pop the trunk - right? No, of course not.

Oh my God this is a whole new level of newspeak. I especially dig the "YOU CAN ABSOLUTELY JUMP FREELY BUT ACTUALLY YOU CAN'T BUT WHO CARES LOL!"

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
I can't believe the amount of bullshit that guy is spewing with his posts. Just look at that: http://forums.eidosgames.com/showpost.php?p=1943475&postcount=399

For those who don't want to click the link or read that long post, here's a concise summary:
"We don't give the slightest fuck about what the old fans want and, in fact, don't even care about staying true to the old Thief games. At all. Our game is a LOT better anyway because you feel more like a master thief than the old games ever made you feel. So, SUCK IT DOWN"

I can't even comprehend this. Do these guys understand what they are saying? Do they believe it? It is absolutely marvelous how high (low) gaming PR evolved in the recent years. Honestly, I don't think that there is another industry in the world (not even movies), where someone can state so much stupid, retarded dumb things, without becoming a laughingstock.

I would be very much interested in the real reasons, why jumping was cut. It is not hardware limitations, since other games can do it. Do the developers think that their audiance is so stupid, that they would be confused if they can jump up to places in the enviroment. Or they are just so lazy, so they don't want to design levels, where the player can go to where ever (s)he wants.

You SWOOP!

It's AWESOME

The guy even insults people who don't like that piece of garbage, and it's not the first time he does it.

From the interview:
As someone who has played the game more than anybody else outside of the dev team, I can assure you that free jumping would ruin immersion.
Oh you fucking idiot. Someone explain this to me. How do these assholes know what is immersion breaking for me? Some testers sit in a room, and they decide that for the 2 milion players who are interested in the game, jumping would ruin immersion? Who the fuck gave you permission to decide about if something ruins immersion to me or not? Give me the tool to jump, and "I" will decide if it ruins the immersion. If it ruins, I won't jump, but if not, I will bunny hop like a retard in the game.

Fuck, these comments are so enraging, I almost have an urge to register on that retarded forums and flame the guy to hell. Eh, but it doesn't worth the effort.

Harvey Smith facepalmed. And then smiled because Dishonored 2 will be a better Thief than Thief. Good god!

When you're in the dev team surrounded by yes men and up your own ass, it's easy to believe your own BS. "Gamers don't care about jumping" you say, you insist, you promise yourself, and then there's no going back.

Human beings, man.

Obviously jumping whenever you want means bunny-hopping through the entire level.

Since it's a stealth-game, you can't use other ways to discourage people from bunny-hopping.
Imagine they had instead introduced stamina that could be depleted by jumping.
Or even such nonsense as making too much noise when jumping around!
Who would like to play that? Really, I'm glad they restrict jumping to when they think it's necessary, that is clearly the better solution! :M

And this comment alone proves that the devs don't even have a clue about the old Thieves. Otherwise they would know that gamers didn't bunnyhoped in the game, even though there was a jump feature.

Things that'll occupy shopshelves.

The game is fucking doomed. Thief - a guided tour to context sensitivity with Garret the 'mustard' thief. Why does anyone even care anymore?

The only time I bunnyhop in Thief is when I do speedruns. Other than that I never use it, and you don't even gain momentum in Thief 2 anyway.

The bunny hop thing is bullshit. Most "realistic" shooters have a kind of slow, stunted jumping without horizontal momentum that doesn't allow you to bunny hop. No reason Thiaf couldn't do the same.

I love how the official forums have pretty much exploded into an air of toxicity. There is only one person left who seems to side with the developers (and moderators) on the clusterfuck of design decisions (HERESY), and I think he is a troll.
