Wonder if Thi4f will flop harder than DmC: Dig my Cojones or 5hitman: Derpulotion?

I'd give it good odds...even journos are trashing this New Shit™.

Steve gets a Kidney but I don't even get a tag.
Bullshit. They made jumping context-sensitive because making the environments interactive rather than just pretty scenery takes slightly more effort. And why the fuck are they complaining about how bouncing up and down breaks immersion when nobody is forcing them to mash that jump button?

Jumping all the time also leads to all guards being alerted because jumping is louder than walking and running...

Oh wait... maybe sound doesn't matter anymore, anyway. Would make the trainwreck complete.

Not necessarily. You could theoretically jump from one silent surface to another nearby silent surface. So removing jumping removes possible tactical depth.

Also, it apparently has quicktime events.

In my opinion, the biggest immersion breaker is forced control limitation. I wish some games could give more control over actions.
IRL if I want to jump, I will jump. If I want to crawl, I will crawl. If I want to go out and touch tits of random women, I will do that. But actions have consequences, and they are too hard for a froggie to code, so let's block everything and make you push the awesome button.

Surprised they are not taking this to its logical conclusion in design. We might get a half-decent movie.

Same shit was in Thief 3, because some faggot decided that making sounds while crouching will be TOO HARD for a cuntsole boy.

Man, whenever PC Gamer kiddos include comments like these you know this thing is a disaster:

"Ask someone today to play the original Thief games, and it’s going to be a challenge to really get into its patterns before you start enjoying it"

Isn't that the point though? Isn't part of the enjoyment learning to experiment and improvise with your tools and eventually master them? Essentially learning your pattern as it were.

Also, I didn't buy Thief until a year ago, when I was one of the target audience NuThief is supposedly aiming for. But Thief didn't make me wish for more handholding, it opened my eyes to what this industry has lost over the years. It made me realise just how much I'd been missing by not playing older games and that truly rewarding gameplay was about more than flashy graphics and scripted action sequences.

Also, I don't recall ever playing Thief and thinking "this game would be perfect if only it didn't let me jump everywhere".

“We didn’t want you to be the master thief and you just tend to fall off stuff all the time.”
This, this is a terrible line of thought, because it can be used to justify any reduction in difficulty.

"We didn’t want you to be the master thief and you just tend to miss some loot so Garrett now carries a magnet in his pocket which attracts all gold".
"We didn’t want you to be the master thief and then people hear you so from now on you produce NO SOUND".
"We didn’t want you to be the master thief and you just tend to suffocate when underwater so from now on Garrett cannot die underwater".

When this disaster comes out, even the Dew & Doritos crowd who are paid by the corporate blowjob will hate it, and everyone else with a bit of sense will tear it into bloody pieces.

Just Dew It crowd will find Thiaf incredibly boring. It's the same kind of players that rushed in a straight line from objective to objective in Dishonored and finished it in 3 hours only to complain it's short and linear. These people should be a non-factor. Sadly, we don't live in the ideal world where LGS just won all awards there are for their Thief 4.

It truly is sad to think how this "Thief" game (I use that word very lightly) has so totally missed the mark of what made the originals so special. Even Deadly Shadows seems a masterpiece to what we've been shown here. The two originals I consider some of the greatest PC games ever created and I still load them up and play them each year. I usually tell myself I'll only play a few levels and then realize it's 2 o'clock in the morning and I have work in a few hours... yet I still don't want to stop!

I know it's been said before but just imagine the ex-Looking Glass people pitching a true "spiritual successor" to the original Thief on Kickstarter. PC-only, large levels, stealth-only focus, sound design a priority, etc. My goodness my bank account is already cringing with how much I'd throw at that... heck, System Shock 1 or 2 successor Kickstarter as well and I'd have to take out a 2nd mortgage!!!

"Wasn't that long ago that I was planning on my retirement. Now the only thing that's getting retired is my standards."

It's incredibly depressing that this quote fits this game so well .

That's remind me the release of Fallout:Tactics. Everyone bitching "this is shit", then another Fallout come and people started to say "actually, it's nice game".

What was in the link? NSFW? Screamer? Trojans?

Thing is, Fallout Tactics was released back in 2001, when developers weren't really doing ultra-stupid stuff like they tend to do right now, in the "age of consoles". From what I've seen so far, I'll be totally surprised if Thief fans would actually say that it's a nice game. It might be cool when threated as different game, but I'm almost sure now that they will fuck up everything related to previous Thief installments. Just look at the concept arts (Dat shoe shop, seriously, wtf?)

Now I can see the reason behind "reboot" thing. Taffers.
