I agree that AP and DS3 are shit. NWN2 and KOTOR2 - mediocre to brilliant. F3 NV - absolutely good, but not brilliant. Overall 3 good games from a total of 5. So, what's the problem? They did not do original IPs!? It's easy to complain, especially when we have the example of Troika.

NWN2 was shit. Sorry. Uninteresting characters, linear world, linear locations (just like DS3), etc. KOTOR 2 was okay. New Vegas... okay for what they had to work with. So I guess I don't get why people are celebrating this especially given the last project Cain worked on.

If we are throwing about dumb ideas for new Obsidian games then I recall Brian Reynolds saying something about how if EA didn't own Alpha Centauri he'd like to do 'something like mass effect with it'.

An Obsidian RPG set on Alpha Centauri might be interesting and certainly better than any EA lore rape fps.

Edit:Reynolds in podcast "Amazing shooter RPG game in the AC universe- Mass effect but with these other things and strategy elements . . .”

This is great news! I wonder what they're working on...

Someone should break into the Obsidian HQ.

Obsidian 'did' Fallout once alright

Its anus needs to cool down. Stuffing christian ghouls and ancient barbaric roman warriors through it into 2200s took quite an effort, don't think Fallout can take another anytime soon.

Heck (the maniac cartoony ally that has resources out of nowhere) is the one closest written to Mitsodas AP. It had a Assistent that had a "hello kitty" backpack and there was a Michael Bay Scene where Mike had to choose between saving a bus with a bomb or stopping the cartoon villian from flying away in a helicopter (And throwing Madison out of it. For no reason other than to be "theatrical".

Yeah, I just see how MCA "raped" that.

Are you an obsidian dev? You seem to know a lot about the game before MCA took over.
Still it has nothing on MCA's emogirl and Brayko which in retardation terms make Bethesda's Moira burst with envy. I honestly was surprised how shitty MCA is. I had suspicions that MCA gets all the credit other 6 dudes should've taken for PS:T but this shit was beyond my wildest expectations.

It's like MCA took Kojima's character generator which selects random words and stuffs them together and then you have a "unique" and "deep" "multidimensional" character.

For example "emo" "underage" "mute" "female" "dual wielding" "revolvers" "leader" "terrorist cell" - and you have a random character from AP. Magnificient!

No. But wait, why am I arguing with you here? Stupid me!

This is just in! In 2011 Codex saying "No" is an argument. What's next? People bitching that IGN and Gamespot have forums full of retards who don't discuss, just circlejerk and get upset when somebody doesn't share their opinion?

The (fully voice acted) Storyboards for Mitsoda's version were uploaded by the artist on their site, which was picked up at the Obsidian forums. And no it was pretty awful. I loved Brayko so I'm not going to comment on him but whether or not you had issues with Sis, she had nothing on the ridiculously cheesy Marburg Moral Choice that Mitsoda had setup (which has Thorton inexplicably burst into tears at the end of whichever choice he picked).

EDIT: Here's the link for it, frankly, the choice they came up with in the final cut was much better.

But motherfucker the violins are gonna stay. Part of the atmosphere of Arcanum is that the game also acts as a violin symphony as you go through various moods and setpieces. What I say it needs is moar tracks to the soundtrack, and a little more symphonic orchestra to back up the violins.
Symphony? Where was the symphony part? Did I miss anything? Most of the game consisted of the same three single violin pieces over and over. After the first few hours, I couldn't hear them anymore.

Nononononono. The string quartet is what sets Arcanum apart. Its soundtrack is great because it avoids the symphonic orchestra, which is the resort of every talentless hack who can't think of any other way to add epic! music to the game.

You are an oldfag, you of all people should know that it IS an argument around here for a long time now. And why should I argue with such bullshit like "MCA didn't write PST, others did the mayor part of the work" anyway? It was mentioned in interviews, that he wrote the mayor part of that game. Yes, he had others to help him, they also deserve credit, but there is no doubt that PST is MCA's creation in the first place. If you don't know that, than you don't know anything about Black Isle, about the development process and MCA's involvement in that project. Also you can hate AP's characters, but you are just full of shit when you say that they are all retarded. It is not a super serious game, and this is true to the characters as well. They are cheesy, yes, just like MGS, but that doesn't make them less entertaining. If you don't ike that style, tough luck. And it is funny how you say MCA doesn't deserve all the credit for PST, because he had other writers to help him, but you bash him alone for AP. It's not like he had other co-writers on that project.

There you have it, my longer than "no" answer. Reply whatever you want.

EA never had anything to do with Arcanum. Sierra published it, Activision now owns anything Sierra had.

Don't forget the scene where Michael Thorton cries like a baby for minutes.

Annie probably wrote that.

At least I hope so.

Annie Mitsoda said:
I'm sad that Josh Gilman - the actor who plays Mike Thorton - has gotten such a thrashing in some reviews, because he really is a FUCKING GOOD ACTOR, and I consider it a real priveledge to have worked with him. I think basically he was cast for a role that he was perfect for, and then a fundamental nature of that part was changed.

that's one of the best news in gaming industry ever. Now let's hope their idea is to make another arcanum/toee/bloodlines/new vegas/motb-like game.

Or PST-like :yeah:

Wrong, wroooooong, soooooo wrooooooong.

Sis is not the Leader of any terrorist cell nor is she emo. (Only if you judge by looks. Which you probably did) But yeah, SIS is pretty underdeveloped due to her beeing originaly a one-note random charachter.

Still, you are so incredibly wrong.

Her character design is stupid though, since she wears that outfit not when just doing normal stuff but when fighting. She should've worn some kind of battle suit. Would've made the "OMG IT'S A TEENAGER!!!" moment better, Shepard could've torn the helmet off or something.

Well looks like AP would've sucked anyway.
The problem is that Avellone did just as shitty job.

I loved Brayko so I'm not going to comment on him but whether or not you had issues with Sis, she had nothing on the ridiculously cheesy Marburg Moral Choice that Mitsoda had setup (which has Thorton inexplicably burst into tears at the end of whichever choice he picked).
Nothing can possibly be worse than Brayko and Sis.
The sole fact that a russian mob leader dresses and acts like a whining homosexual is beyond ridiculous. IRL in Mother Russia these people get fucked in the ass in jail by the rest of criminal comrades, not lead.

And Sis - how can she even lead when she is mute? And underage? Would you trust a terrorist cell to a little girl who can't talk? WTF Chris?

People praise Avellone but are permabutthurt about Gaider (until DA3 comes out) even though the only difference is that Avellone didn't do gay sex yet.

J_C said:
And why should I argue with such bullshit like "MCA didn't write PST, others did the mayor part of the work" anyway?

Because you would have no other choice but agree? Besides Avellone there were 7 other people working on design, incl. lead Planescape designer. They get zero credit, incl. lead Planescape designer.

Agreeing with me isn't a cool thing on the 'Dex.

It was mentioned in interviews, that he wrote the mayor part of that game.
He also wrote a promotional doc which read like a retarded 12 yo wrote it - much like AP. So it kinda contradicts those "interviews".
He also did Fallout 2 - again juvenile writing. But in PS:T he suddenly became a supercool writer?

but there is no doubt that PST is MCA's creation in the first place
Only 'T' is something MCA is related to. He had nothing to do with 'PS'. And if not for PS it would've been a generic fantasy story.

Also you can hate AP's characters, but you are just full of shit when you say that they are all retarded. It is not a super serious game, and this is true to the characters as well. They are cheesy, yes, just like MGS, but that doesn't make them less entertaining. If you don't ike that style, tough luck

Now replace AP with Fallout 3 and an excuse will sound the same.

And it is funny how you say MCA doesn't deserve all the credit for PST, because he had other writers to help him, but you bash him alone for AP. It's not like he had other co-writers on that project.

Because Planescape is a creation of other people but AP (which is "the game we made exactly how we wanted it to make") had only 3 writers among which Avellone was lead?
