I guess is fair to also mention that is also #1 RPG at the number of promised and cut features.

If they cut something out, it was because it needed to be cut. I have full confidence these things were cut out for good reasons, InExile doesn't strike me as a company that'd hoodwink their audience. Sure, Wasteland 2 was shit, but these guys have their hearts in the right place. I fully expect the final game to have dozens of hours of excellent content. :salute:

All this does seem pretty worrying. Backing down/out of stretch goals is never a good thing, but I suppose/hope InXile has a good reason for doing so, which we haven't been told yet. Curious to see if Sea or BN responds to your posts. I also hope they will have improved the camera controls. Still pretty excited to play this in about just a month.

Sounds like they baldy mismanaged their time and/or are purposefully holding content back in order to get a Steam Store re-release "ultimate" edition in 8 months (timed conveniently between summer and winter sales).

If Bubbles were still here, it would have already been posted.

Some shitty trailers from Techland are more important news. That is how you shill.

Right. Another nuanced and sophisticated poster! If you don’t like trash mobs and filler content, the only alternative is CYOA! Do you have any idea how ridiculous that sounds?

How ridiculous? As ridiculous as saying that if you want to have stuff besides the main content then you want trash mobs and filler content?

Seriously, you are completely fucking retarded in your zealotry about AoD and VD's dick.
AoD, thankfully, is not and will never be a standard to which to compare other RPGs except in your mind. So all this "loaalalaololol this is not like aod so it sucks" is fucking retarded.

There aren't any really good reasons IMO. Sometimes you fuck up badly and need to rescue a project from the brink of disaster, which is an acceptable reason -- but it does mean that you fucked up badly. If that does happen, it is extremely uncool to not fess up to it.

The failure to deliver stretch goals are the natural consequence of kickstarter, that forces your hand and made you overpromise. Every developer does that, and the exceptions, like Obsidian, end up delivering subpar content, like the stronghold, who is an empty shell with nothing to do. If you want to complain about something, blame the dishonest kickstarter model. A good model would allow them to ask for a specific sum without promises in advance. If alternative models are not enough to get players engaged, then you have no else to blame by yourselves.

These complaints about failing to deliver stretch goals are the natural consequence of overpromising on kickstarter.

Nobody forces anyone to overpromise. If you do and fuck it up, it's your failure. Applies to Obsidian's empty stronghold and hurr durr backer NPCs equally. Sometimes society really did make you do it, but this isn't one of those times.

The structure of kickstarter itself forces you. You need to promise a bunch of stretch goals about a game that you didn’t even made yet in order to increase the pledges. It’s idiotic, but that’s how the platform works. It’s a glorified hype machine to attract game journalists, publishers and deliver rushed games with checklist design. That’s why most backers don’t complain about these things. It’s about having an experience of being a patron of arts and hyping about the possibilities. Some people said that Banner Saga 2 didn’t sell because it didn’t innovate, but I tell, the reason why they sold poor was the absence of a kickstarter, the hype machine. If you think any different, you haven't being paying attention.

There's no excuse, inxile are fucking liars and the only reason they admitted to cutting content was because they were caught doing it.

Game would have launched without any word from them otherwise.

And its rich that that cunt sea uses "we be so busy, could respond before" excuse, when all of these inxile cucks spend their time on Twitter posting shit about Trump and saying how sjw they are.

Obsidian also didn't manage to do low intelligence dialogue like Tim Cain promised, but that's the only thing they didn't manage and it wasn't a stretch goal.
Final question at the end of the video:

They also didn't manage to make a game that would be a spiritual successor to BG/IWD. Their whole pitch was a lie.

In other words, this is Trump's fault.

Of course, they are cretins! My point is that even if they weren’t cretins, they would do something similar because the platform forces your hand. You can’t have some of the most successful kickstarted games without false promises, and what people look for in kickstarter is false promises, pipe dreams, not game content. If you post regularly on facebook, you become a retarded moralist. If you post regularly on the Codex, you become a tabloid reader with dirty mouth. If you throw money at Kickstarter, you become a deluded individual who thinks he is the patron of arts and wants to get involved with that awesome new game! The platform is rotten to the core and corrupts everyone involved, developers, players, game press, etc. The worse of the bunch are the players, because they are wasting their money in pipe dreams and can’t admit the reality of failure.

I don't think it's unreasonable to expect them to communicate with backers if stretch goals get canceled. The whole "We love kick starter because it lets us communicate directly with our players" mantra should apply to good and bad parts of a games development. Otherwise it's just bullshit.

It's just bullshit, but it works because it's bullshit. People are irrational, and they are throwing money at kickstarter games to fuel their own irrationality and emotions. There is no contact with reality here, none. You just need the pretense of connection with developers. That's enough to justify backing games. It makes players feel good about themselves, important. Who cares about what was canceled? They are a part of the process that created a game!

Having a good reason doesn't justify cutting stretch goal content. Their whole point was to get people to give more money, so they should deliver what people paid for. PoE suffered for it (2nd city and stronghold), but they still got it done, even though it raised less money and was released 2 years before TTON.

Obsidian also didn't manage to do low intelligence dialogue like Tim Cain promised, but that's the only thing they didn't manage and it wasn't a stretch goal.

Also mod support.

They did fulfill every stretch goal, so kudos to them for that.

There's really no easy way to tell your supporters that you had to cut content. I mean, either way people will be pissed. I think the best bet is to just make an announcement, apologize and move on. Maybe give the condolence that if the game does well enough, etc., some of the content may be added in later (as InXile is into free DLC anyway, it's a possibility, right?).

Maybe it's better to don't show content that may be cut so you don't need to take care of explaining in the first place?

How do they know what they might cut before they start making the game?
