You're missing out, 3K has many good aspects over Wawa.

Honestly the idea of playing a faction in an empire on the verge of dissolution was pretty neat and could have been an awesome setting, chins or no chins. What killed 3K for me was that too many mechanics were centered on forgettable two bit characters (especially when recruiting armies), the focus on the fantasy light romance mode, and the overall Dynasty Warriors feel that it had. It's the same shit Troy pulled. Either do a Mythology Total War or do a Bronze Age Total War. A more historically centered game would have probably won me over.
Every fantasy race names become undistinguishable after the 5th commander and the chinese are no exception.
And yet the Chinese feel so much more replaceable than the average goatman...

Yeah, they are running out of factions. We might even see Araby as a DLC down the line. It's very likely.

There is no point of adding any other faction except for Chaos Dwarfs and Dogs of War, two factions who did get army book and are supposed to be active in the regions WH3 is set.
Need for more DLC content? Just create more subfactions of the established 22 factions and add them to the game.
chaos dwarfs are pointless

manlets are both embarrassing and unrealistic

A race of constantly angry, ultra-conservative, bearded manlets who generally hate new shit, hate orks and elves and other decline races, and is only okay with humans.

:hypeship:

That being said, Dwarfs are still massive incline.

How important are the DLCs for the Troy player? Can I skip them or does it feel incomplete without them?
Mythos is almost 100% a must-have imo. It's almost a must-have because I like the Truth Behind the Myth mode too, but Mythos does add a ton of new content and ways to play the game so if you can spare the cash get it too. Get the others if you like the game after that. All of the mythic heroes added by the DLCs are great, with their own unique campaign mechanics and unit rosters (only Ajax and Diomedes don't have completely new unit rosters because they are Greeks). Wait for a discount, though, I paid around 45ish euro for the whole thing and I don't regret it.

Campaign video of everyone's favorite forgettable fantasy China Legendary Lady:

Some of 3K's diplomacy features seem to have made it in: showing clear numbers for AI's interest in your proposals, 'make it work' option and settlement trading. Incline imo, but let's wait and see how easily the AI will be cheesed with it.

Also you can now apparently build outposts in allies' territory that allows you to recruit units?

Odysseus in Troy can build outposts in enemy cities that allow him to recruit his unique units.

As for the video, I'm starting to think the Total War campaign gameplay is starting to get a bit stale. They haven't done anything new forever by this point and this zig-zagging of armies between cities doesn't seem.... ideal anymore. That compass thing seems unnecessary or at least manipulative. It tricks you into thinking you are making important decisions when you are in fact just choosing a numeric bonus for the next turn. The graphics look very good, though. Now that I think about it, is the Wu Xing Compass a single thing that affects all of Cathay at the same time? If it is, then why aren't the two siblings fighting over which effect is active? It could've added another dimension to this mechanic when you can't always choose what bonus it gives. They could've used Paris and Hector's mechanic of trying to win their father's favor.

HUGE LEAK TODAY. I put on spoilers

The 9th unannounced legendary lord is a Chaos Undivided customizable character. You customize it just like a rpg character, with different torsos, heads, wings, etc. and during the game you can get favour from one of each gods or ignore them and go full independent.
He has access to all chaos gods units and get bonuses from each gods depending on which one you wanna side with.

Demon Prince faction : totalwar (reddit.com)

d94qxw774ac81.png

From a Russian site: https://gamemag.ru/specials/163346/warhammer-3-previev

Auto translation: However, in the preview version, our editors did not play as Cathay at all. All the attention was drawn to the final faction of Warhammer III, which is led by the Demon Prince .

Before Ursun was captured by Be'lakor, a Kislevite noble attempted to kill the bear. After his death , the Godslayer turned into the form of the Demon Prince, who yearns to complete the unfinished business.

The Demon Prince is a great opportunity to have fun for those players who could not immediately choose an idol among the four Dark Gods. Basically, Godslayer is a template for RPG lovers.

How it works? Creative Assembly offers full customization of the character's appearance - from the head and weapons to the tail and wings. The Demon Prince can be wielded with a hammer - or devoid of weapons altogether by equipping him with a giant claw. The Godslayer's arsenal is constantly expanding with the gifts of Chaos, and various parts of the body can be combined into sets, making the faction leader even more powerful.

The player can serve exclusively Chaos Undivided - or choose one of the four Dark Lords: Tzeentch, Khorne, Nurgle or Slaanesh . To do this, it is necessary to dedicate cities to a specific God of Chaos and bring bloody sacrifices in his honor. In exchange for this, the player will receive specific "spare parts" faster, unlock specific units and buildings.

Wat8.jpg

Is this the god-napping/killing event that people have been hinting at? Pretty lame for the GOD OF BEARS AND STRENGTH to get kidnapped if you ask me.

Also that's a straight up dildo tail on that demon prince.

Another tidbit from the same supposed "leak"

The plot of Warhammer III revolves around the bear god Ursun, who is captured by the first demon prince Be'lakor, who was once the favorite of the four gods of Chaos. However, a problem has arisen - when the tortured patron of Kislev roars in pain, the barrier between the Realms of Chaos and the Old World is breached. And at once several new factions enter the fray to challenge Be'lakor.

It does seem right up CA's typical 'storytelling'.

Meh, build your own Daemon Prince doesn't sound that terrible. Gimmicky but not game destroying. At least now we know where the budget for an actual siege rework went...
