So, is the lava supposed to look like boiling cum when corrupted by Slaanesh or is it a graphical glitch?

My favorite is the 20% or so charge bonus for units you can't even recruit that early as Ogres.

Percentage charge bonuses is such a weird and useless modifier to begin with, especially when it occurs on any non-cavalry. Wow, my unit with 30 charge gets 20% change bonus which means... +6 attack and +6 damage that decays to nothing after about 5 seconds. Meanwhile other units just get bonuses like +8 attack/defense that last indefinitely. And +20% charge bonus is high, most of those techs and skills are +10%. Unless the unit in question is a cav with like 75+ base charge these bonuses should be more like 30-40%. Or just make them flat bonuses, I don't get why they are percentages.
They were flat bonuses, then people who can't do math changed them to percentages, because they would be more meaningful as percentages. Thus instead of goblins do something during charge, we got nearly harmless units. But we got OP knights.

I'm telling you, they're not doing anything extraordinary with the start positions. This is about as relevant as Infinitron "News"

Also lmao Khatep is still stuck in the worst position possible.

The east side of the map looks super empty, but I guess they are keeping it that way for DLC. Cathay will still be super boring to play.

Expected for the most part, only one I was uncertain about was Malus. He has a clear shot to the Sword of Khaine shrine now.

East side of the map is looking empty (probably for DLC).

Are three-way battles a thing in this game? After having finished my new Slaanesh campaign (with the victory conditions overhaul. I love the fact (short) campaigns are 70ish turns long, no faction has enough content to last more than that), I wanted to see how much Cathay has changed since I last played them when this came out. Anyway, I assaulted a garrison next to Snikch and ended the turn in order to see whether the AI is going to attack me because I hate settlement and siege battles in this game, Snikch attacked me and the garrison was dragged into the battle as well. I didn't play it because I would've obviously lost, but would that mean we would've fought a free-for-all or would the garrison be reinforcements for Snikch? If it isn't an FFA, why is the Cathay garrison aligned with Snikch?
I might try to win this, actually. It could be fun.

If there are 3rd party who is also in war with one of the participant but not the other it will trigger this iirc

I had this with the dorfs when playing Kislev, we both in war vs the skaven didnt have pact but he joined me iirc

It'd be a 2v1. In cases like this though very often the AI bugs out and probably sniktch would do something dumb like completely ignore you and try to run through you to get to the city center.

EDIT: nvm, it'd be a field battle wouldn't it?

Soooo, yeap, I've confirmed that Cathay is still boring as fuuu. At least playing as Zhao Ming, maybe his sister has a more entertaining time with the chaos incursions. But it's not only the lack of fights, it's also Cathay's gameplay. I can't imagine a more generic playstyle and terminally uninteresting army progression, in addition to lack of campaign mechanics. Everything combines to make this as dreary and joyless as possible. I'm also heavily contemplating downloading that mod that makes minor settlement battles into field ones, I just can't get into the sieges. Yes, they are more "difficult" than field battles but in the worst way possible, the way that only adds frustration and not challenge. You are constantly fighting the pathfinding and waiting for your units to get into position. This is coupled with the already braindead battles that produce such results -

Several new start positions like Alberic's were quite unexpected.

Hmm just realized that both the Great Desert of Araby and the Eastern Colonies seem to be un-organized, i.e. without inner borders or roads.
IaeOLMH.jpg
Unfinished beta map or will they be inaccessible like Ind and Kuresh?
Even if Araby is inaccessible it might not mean that Arabv the faction will come sometime in the future. It might mean they will be another possible location for a Dogs of War LL....

In the game files there are all the immortal Empires settlements and the eastern colonies have settlements called "Tor something", so I think they are playable and home to high elves

Developers confirmed it.

After seeing the red in red UI of WHIII all the time, I must confess that I really dig the blue UI-Version.

Didn't they say the first DLC is going to be 4 champions or whatever? It's probably Azazel, Festus, Valkia and Vilitch.

Only took em 6 years to make the first DLC faction good.

I bet the WoC victory conditions are still "Kill off every human faction" while the AI keeps colonising everything in your wake. I still remember the absolute pain in the ass that was my first finished campaign in WH1. Only took around 250 turns.

They said they are reworking the victory conditions, but if not there are (reasonable) mods for that.

Yea that wack-a-mole AI recolonising was absolute cancer. Did they not do something to change that with BM update?

Have to say I am cautiously hyped for the IE campaign now, after having dropped WH3 shortly after buying it due to the complete and utter garbage that was RoC campaign. Fuck CA for doubling down on the already bad Vortex campaign with RoC and making me wait for the 'real' game (combined trilogy) which is the only reason we are all still here.

We'll see how that works out. As I said, they don't seem to actually play their own campaigns from start to finish and just make up random victory conditions that go way overboard so I'm not confident they're going to do a good job.
