Many Codexian parrot the shallow opinion that Baldur's Gate 1 is superior to Baldur's Gate 2 to earn edgy keyboard cred. They are liars, and know it in their hearts.

Every JRPG outside of From Software products are shit. Every. Single. One.

And Demon Souls made more success on west than on Japan;

"Announced in 2008, early reactions to Demon's Souls demo were seen as negative, and the game's high difficulty prompted Sony to pass on publishing the title outside of Japan. While the game met with middling reception and sales in Japan, it became a commercial and critical success in the West. " https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demon's_Souls

It's safe to say that there is a large portion of the Codexers here who hate anything that has to do with Japan, and will never play a jRPG. I think about this everytime I see you guys use the despair emote. From Mother 3. The best jRPG.

Not true. I rather play ANY FS games(excluding sekiro) than anything made by Blizzard South or modern bioware/bugthesda. What i don't like about most games who come from Japan is. The first RPG of my life was M&M VII. In that game, i could be anything in the game, from a Elf Sorcerer who becomes later a Lich to a Goblin monk, on FF VII, the first 'jrpg" that i played due a friend's recommendation, i can play with a spiky haired androgynous teenager with a oversized sword and that is it.

-------------------------------

Here is a harsh truth. Baldur's Gate 1/2 Enchanced Edition by beamdog is less awful than other remasters/remakes. Not only the recent Gothic 1 remake(at least the teaser), but also if compared to non rpg remakes, like CoD 4 remake

Has AWFUL companions? Yes. Has some classes that makes no sense to exist on 2e like Dragon's Disciple? Yes. BUT most of this things are optional. Don't play with new classes if you don't like, nor recruit beamdog companions.

Old games had the isometric perspective due to technological restraints, otherwise they would have been made with the first person perspective.

I thought I could take this thread in the spirit it was clearly meant. But no. This has succeeded in triggering me. Well done.

When someone laments that video games have become too political/agenda-driven, I suspect they've never experienced the validation of representation, the comfort/catharsis of feminine survival, the richness of diverse voices, etc; and for that, I feel sorry for them. They're missing out.

this thread should have been closed after 10 pages, it's just boring farts trying to be clever now
Hmm. A fair effort. But, while I find shitting on people because they are enjoying something more than you fairly triggering, I haven't noticed it being frowned upon on the Codex. ;)

Boom! Successfully triggered the Codex!

Edit: Removing link. Don't give this fool any more website clicks.

Roger Ebert:
Video games cannot be art....

...

HOw shitty is Roger Ebert you asked? I quote his games cannt be art article "Why are gamers so intensely concerned, anyway, that games be defined as art? Bobby Fischer, Michael Jordan and Dick Butkus never said they thought their games were an art form. Nor did Shi Hua Chen, winner of the $500,000 World Series of Mah Jong in 2009. Why aren't gamers content to play their games and simply enjoy themselves?".

Who were those old farts anyway? One really old chess player, one athelete (ick) and whoevers? Especially Shi Hua Chen. Dear god! Does the man even know the difference between video games and mah jong? Does the man actually know what video games is?

Does he know anything at all?

The big problem is that he's comparing apples to oranges. He's confusing the creation of art with consumption of art.

Making a beautiful chess set? Art. Winning a game of chess? Not art.
Designing a stadium? Art. Winning at sportsball? Not art.
Creating a masterpiece film? Art. Watching a movie? Not art.
Painting? Art. Walking through a gallery? Not art.
Creating a video game? Art. Playing a video game? Not art.

He's saying that video game players are not creating art, therefore the video game is not art. That's like saying that the movie theater audience is not creating art, therefore the film is not art.

Eh, Star Wars is waaaaaaay overrated for what it is. Never see what's so great (10/10) about it.

I agree that it at least has a 8/10. I might even agree it reach 9/10. But the legendary status it has? Never could understand why.

One chinese put it that it's originally and wholesomely American with not much noticeable influence from outside, so the US is crazy about it. I accept it as a reasonable answer for this phenomenon.

I do not watch modern Shekellwood but i doubt that a prequel is better than original.
If there are any brain-dead millennials on the codex, maybe I can trigger them with this truth bomb: the Star Wars prequels are hot piles of stinking garbage. You might not appreciate these if you haven't seen the prequels, but one great mind of our time explains in hilariously excruciating detail just how awful the prequels were: https://redlettermedia.com/plinkett/star-wars/.

The Star Wars prequels were way better than the original trilogy.

All starwars movies are overrated, but I actually think that phantom menace is a good space-opera/fantasy/adventure movie with great cast (apart from annoying CGI kangaroo alien)

Empire strikes back > phantom menace > new hope >>>>>>>>>>> the rest garbage

This is not a trigger the 'dex post, but my legit opinion.
