Sad thing this means that GOG basically sells fuck all considering some thousands were sold directly by IT.

Sad thing this means that GOG basically sells fuck all considering some thousands were sold directly by IT.

Yeah, it seems GOG's main profile are still the old classics, people who want to buy a new game still prefer Steam.

GoG's doing ok, way better than GG or any other non-Steam platform. Thing is, Steam is a behemoth that handles 80% of the market (at least). Have to admire Gabe for being a visionary and starting early when the very concept of buying games online was a ridiculous novelty.

It's from 2011.Half of 70% digital market is 35%,back then I found it was 75/25 split digital/retail ,so 25% in the end.And that was before we had any solid data on steam.

So even less than 15% share for sure.
Ofc I understand that for ITS and 99% of the independent devs steam is really all that is ,but I'm talking about the whole picture.Valve is just big player ,that will probably get bigger,but we got EA,Blizzard,Riot and alike just as big as them.

Now that I mentioned them Vault Dweller did you try to put AoD on Origin or Uplay or they have some crazy policy that make it impossible to sell it there?I have seen a lot of obscure games in both shops recently.

No immediate effect. Steam exposure is the only thing that matters when it comes to sales.

I don't know how wishlists work. Is the wishlist number in addition to 45k or does it include it?

Anyway, the question now is how to go from the copies sold number to the wishlist number. Surely there must be some science on it.

Yes. Overall, AoD sold well enough to pay for the CSG development and that's all we care about. The money isn't a reward for hard work but wages and expenses (like art) for the next 4 years.

I don't know how wishlists work. Is the wishlist number in addition to 45k or does it include it?

In addition, of course. When you buy a game it's removed from your wishlist and we get a report showing how many people wishlisters we 'converted' at any given period.

Do you think it's enough for that purpose?

It's hard to say, but we got enough to see it through, even if we have to work on pure enthusiasm for a year. I was worried about selling 10-15,000 copies, which would have been the end of it, but 45k copies sold at a good price give us a good 'foundation'. We wouldn't be able to get this kind of money on Kickstarter.

How do you think will sales develope, do you think the game will continue to sell like many cRPGs do (selling for years on a low but steady level)?

I don't know as nobody really knows how well cRPGs sell, especially indie RPGs. We have SteamSpy now but it doesn't account for bundles and free giveaways. If I have to guess though, our sales will continue to go down and after a year or so we'll only sell 3-5 copies a day.
