...that reply doesn't tell me a damn thing. Guess I'll have to find out myself some day.
It should at least tell you that they'll sell you the game with the expansion and at version 2.0.12, and not the initial release. That's what the torrent for the GOG version says...

That's the gog installer version, which has nothing to do with the game version. The "plus" may indicate it's the fullest version of the game, which also means nothing, only that the game comes with the expansion. There's no info about the unofficial patches.

BROs, tested RE - HD Remake, and:

1) Resolution Lag Patch is a must.

As wisefags claim, originally the game uses 1920x1440 internal res. By using this patch you can change it to any value you want, preferably 4:3 (other ratios can fuck up some effects). So, anything from here will do:
Code:
640x480
800x600
1024x768
1152x864
1280x960
1400x1050
1600x1200
2048x1536
3200x2400
4000x3000
6400x4800
I went with 1400x1050 since my native res is 1680x1050. OFC, The lower the internal res value, the worse the 3d models look.
Game looks like this:

gEEK2gd.jpg

2) Using the Original GC Font mod is a good idea. Comparison (orignal -> GC font).

4B6ccGy.jpg

Xr8GzfZ.jpg

3) Using the Widescreen option is IMO pointless. It's not a proper Hor+, but Ver-. Changing the FOV in the game with pre-rendered backgrounds wasn't probably possible in any other way (except re-making the backgrounds from scratch), but whatever. Compare (widescreen -> original):

dOS09v1.jpg

GQNcdW0.jpg

b4O3sGw.jpg

RmTAFWw.jpg

3) Using Fluffy Mod Manager is advised, since it has built-in "skip doors animation" cheat (also other things like changing costumes on the fly, etc.).

That is all.

:obviously:

BROs, update to the previous...

4) Using x360ce is p. much obligatory if you have gamepad other than the Xbawks one (DirectInput only, no XInput). My good old DualShock2 + adapter wasn't working properly by default (analog pad worked, d-pad didn't), I had to use x360ce.

zewd1lz.jpg

5) There's something wrong with some of the audio tracks - Crapcom screwed sth up when making the HD version (newshit consoles and PC). There's a fix of course:

Bunny's BGM Fix

Anyway, using the GC version via Dolphin looks much more convenient.

Galactic Civilizations 2: community based-update patch http://forums.galciv2.com/457944, maybe or maybe not added to the recent gog.com release (http://af.gog.com/forum/galactic_civilizations_series/community_guideupdate?as=1649904300) -> seems updated, but in a broken way (interestingly, while the CU update pack is Stardock endorsed, Gaunathor created a purer version forums.galciv3.com/438296/ and Altaran sites.google.com/site/mabusraeen too )

Unofficial Max Pack 95 Restoration Project Pack for Carmageddon: both Steam and Gog are shamelessly selling a suboptimal non-Win95 garbage version of Carmageddon. The Steam version doesn't even come with all the executables that are on a physical copy... Gog did attempt to create a win95 patch but it's a bit hit and miss.

For the Optimal Carma Experience™ you best download this fanmade patch: http://qtz.toshiba-3.com/uMaxPack95RPP.zip

I'm currently playing Carma on a laptop and it runs great and it's perfectly stable, the only crashes occurred when I alt-tabbed out of the game.

Be sure to check out ddraw.ini, here you can switch between a pure software renderer and opengl mode, I prefer to use the latter since it gives me the best performance but YMMV. And don't worry, opengl does not turn the game into a blurry mess like the original glide mode does.

The patch also comes with some optional tweaks. The IPX feature didn't play nice with my OS so I don't recommend checking that, see edit at end of post for LAN play.

Btw, you can't change Carma95's sound volume from within the game, you can however alt-tab to Windows, open the Windows sound mixer and lower the game's volume there, Carma will probably crash at this point because it cannot into alt-tabbing but it will remember the new sound volume.

EDIT: Use this wrapper if you want to play over a LAN.

Unpack in main Carma directory ( for Steam version this is: steamapps\common\Carmageddon1\CARMA\)

Run directplay-win32.reg or directplay-win64.reg depending on your operating system.

Launch ipxconfig.exe, these settings work for me:

(optional: you can set your Broadcast port to any number, make sure your other computers match the number as well)

Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed aka Need for Speed: Porsche 2000 aka Need for Speed: Porsche
xtpMt7F.png

I tested this on a W7 x64 desktop and on a W10 x64 laptop with Intel hd5500 graphixxx

Install game
Download and execute PU Official EA 3.5 nocd Patch (5.43mb)
Right click Porsche.exe and set compatibility to XP (service pack 2)
Download dgVoodoo 2 unpack it and place dgVoodooSetup.exe and the files from the MS (= DirectX not glide)folder in your main NFSP folder
Run dgVoodoo 2 and check out the General and DirectX tabs

The game should work fine now but the LAN option will be grayed out, this is because NFSP uses ye olde IPX protocol.

To unlock LAN:
Download and unpack this IPXWrapper
Run directplay-win32.reg or directplay-win64.reg
Copy the DLL files to the main NFSP folder

Edit: Tried to get some LAN games going (actual LAN not Hamachi or some such) but weird latency issues made the game unplayable.

Carmageddon 1 works perfect with this wrapper.

I've collected the files needed to play the Steam version of Silent Storm that supports v-sync and corrects all the bugs in the steam release and includes (optionally) all the common mods. I've also provided two hacked versions of the steam .exe to support widescreen 1920x1200 or 1920x1080, but I've included instructions on how you can change it to ANY resolution, including 4k and older ones like 1680x1050.

Note that all widescreen resolutions cut off the bottom of the main menu text (see image below) but doesn't impact the game or gameplay screens.

Download here.

iGCwRI3.jpg

w5VdsvT.jpg
1. Apply S2 Steam Patch
2. replace the d3d9.dll with the one from d3d9_vsync-forWidescreenSteam
3. replace game.exe in the Silent Storm folder with either the game.exe.1200 or game.exe.1080 files

To play in 1920x1200/1080, select 1024x768 from the in-game video options. V-sync and widescreen will now work.

To change the resolution that 1024x768 displays, open the included game.exe in a hex editor, such as hex workshop, and go to position 00128DF3

Depending on which .exe you've opened (.1200 or .1080), change 80070000BE3804 (1920x1080) or 80070000BEB004 (1920x1200) to any other resolution. You will be replacing the 8007 (1920) with the new horizontal resolution and the 3804 or B004 block (1080 or 1200) with the new vertical resolution.

Common values:

3840: 000F
2560: 000A
2160: 7008
1440: A005
1920: 8007
1680 9006
1600: 4006
1366: 5605
1280: 0005
1200: B004
1080: 3804
1050: 1A04
1024: 0004
900: 8403
800: 2003
768: 0003
720: D002

edit: should also work on the GOG version, but parts of or the entirety of the steam patch are redundant. Shouldn't impact the game, but has only been tested on the steam version.

This is for MechCommander Gold. It adds widescreen resolutions and removes the check for a CD on some resolutions

Select the resolution you want to play at by using the correct .exe. My favorite is 768x480, which is the 'native' widescreen for MCG since it's a VGA game and it preserves the detail of the world. I've added .exe's that play in common 16:10, 16:9 and 4:3 resolution. Only the 16:10 resolutions have the cd check removed, sorry 16:9 plebs. I have included instructions on how to hex edit the MCX.exe in the 'no cd' folder to play in whatever resolution you want.

Note that few/no windows desktops will support a 768x480 or 960x600 resolution out of the box and you'll have to add them via the Nvidia / ATI control panel or if you're on ATI, registry editing. I use an ATI card and they make it a pita, maybe I'll post a how-to on that later.

Download here.

768x480

NIjefhV.jpg
Replace your MCX.exe with one of the included MCX.exe.RESOLUTION to play at a given resolution. The included MCX.exe is the regular MechCommander Gold exe with cd protection removed.

To change the game to a different resolution, open the included MCX.exe in a hexeditor (such as Hex Workshop) and search for this string

E0010000688002

E001 is 480, 8002 is 640, replace as needed. The first instance in the file will change the game resolution, but all three instances have been replaced for the custom resolution .exe's. If this fucks something up, go back and replace the last two with the default resolution.

Custom 16:10 Resolutions
----------------------
640x400 (8002 x 9001) (perfect pixel scaling for native 1280 x 800)
720x450 (D002 x C201) (perfect pixel scaling for native 1440 x 900)
768x480 (0003 x E001)
800x500 (2003 x F401)
960x600 (C003 x 5802) (perfect pixel scaling for native 1920 x 1200)
1280x800 (0005 x 2003)

Quake 3 UI enhanced

UI Enhanced adds to the user interface of Quake 3 by providing a more
flexible and powerful way of setting up single player and server games.
It replaces only the user interface, leaving the server and client
code untouched.

You can create a rotation of up to 32 maps, or a random selection from
your map collection. In addition to selecting your own bots, they can
be randomly picked and replaced on each level change. The bot skill can
also be set or randomly picked from a range of values.

Many server parameters can be customized. A script can be saved for
loading back in at a later time, or for use with a dedicated server.

In addition to the new map and bot game generation, there are numerous
improvements to the rest of the UI interface. An better model/skin
selection page (along with a model animator), an Unreal Tournament style
bot control menu, better add and remove menus for bots in play, as well
as many other small tweaks and bug fixes.

Just place the uie folder in your main Quake 3 Arena folder, create a shortcut to Quake3.exe and add +set fs_game uie to the target line. You can also add it to Steam Launch Options if you own the game on Steam.

Steam version is 1.32, you can download 1.32c if you like, 1.32c is just an exe file you have to copy/ paste over you Steam Quake3.exe.

Some basic Q3A info to refresh your memory or to get interested noobs started:

-Tweak the q3config.cfg file located in the baseq3 folder. You can also just use my cfg if you want, it's configured for max graphixx, 1920x1080 res and 144fps. You can change the maximum framerate by editing the com_maxfps line, most people use com_maxfps 125. (inb4 someone tells me that "going above 125 might break the game's PhysX!!!" )

Don't touch the in-game gfx options afterwards because doing so will mess up the game's resolution again, other options can be changed.

-Optional: use your GPU's control panel to force AA and AF.

If you use my cfg you'll be able to toggle the UI by pressing J

2CF4413569CEE9C449C74EAED683F2DB2A8EFC18

-You can easily create Listen, Dedicated and LAN servers. Use the "connect <server ip here>" console command to join your own dedicated server, if the server is on the same PC you can also type "connect local".

You can use VLAN software like Tunngle if you want to play with friends and your connection gives you grief. Said friends have to use the connect <host ip's here> command.

Some of my favourite custom DM maps:

A Dark Secret
Sinister Purpose
Achromatic
Aerowalk
Battleforged
Blood Run
Corrosion
Devilish
Gothic Rage
Grindill 2.0
Hektik
Meatball Grinder
Evolution
Solitude
Windsong Keep

Been using this, the game looks great.

Tex Murphy: Overseer

Go to http://dege.freeweb.hu/ and click the 'downloads' under dgVoodoo 2.
Choose the latest version
Unzip the files to some folder
Copy all files under the 'MS' folder to your Overseer directory - <STEAM FOLDER>\steamapps\common\Tex Murphy 5
Play the game (run the dgvoodoo setup if you want to remove the watermark)
There are a few small glitches (looking up/down when not moving), but those are totally negligible

This should remedy the transparency problems.
