In the 90s, no-one cared if something was offensive.
It's not the 90s anymore grandpa, don't you have taxes to file or something?
You're right, we're in the Dark Future- Wait, no. Even in Cpunk, food is aplenty, movies don't seem to suck, ads are cool and actually sell what they offer in the ad itself, and cybernetics are available everywhere. We're in worse times.
It's very funny (when not extremely sad) when people compare fictional reality with reality.

Congrats, you're an idiot.

The 1980s version of a dystopia was a Japan-dominated world with cool aesthetics and neat technologies. :M

Nobody said cyberpunk was meant to be realistic. It was based on anti-capitalist vibes and whether the economics made sense or not was never important.

I see you bothered to add handrails of some sort. Lame, if you wanted to show how absurbdly decadent the elites are, you could remove the rails and assume there's a gravity net that pushes those falling back into the spire. Xp
It's obvious you played CPunk 2077. Hopefully, yours won't have that many bugs or broken promises.

Cyberpunk, but banal and boring.
We were promised Tyrell Corp, OCP and Weyland-Yutani, glorious in neons and rain. Instead we got pasteel Goolag and Faceberg safe spaces.

I think in Memoirs it was mentioned that there was some kind of high-tech safety net underneath, so that will probably still be the case here.

Yes, I played 2077. I have very mixed feelings on the actual game, but the aesthetics of the game were so top notch it's insane.

Combat video, please.

It's coming, but it might take a while. Trying to migrate my existing combat system into Unreal, while basically having no experience in the engine, is as hard as it sounds.

But it's not that hard. I'm using an existing barebones system and adding a shit ton of stuff to it. I highly suspect that it's the same stuff that ITS used for Colony Ship but I can't say with 100% certainty. If so, those guys modified it a lot in a very impressive way and I'll probably have to go the same route.

For the demo I'll probably have two small battles. New stuff that wasn't in my old games will mostly be the existence of cover (pretty important), and stealth (if I can get it working). I'm not gonna sugercoat it, entire studios with hundreds of people spend years to make these kinds of systems, so me doing it in two months is lol territory. While I'm completing another game in a different engine.

But with enough willpower, most things are doable.

Do you have the playtesting covered?

Yeah, most of my games will have some kind of open beta/early access. Game won't cost that much, probably.

I wish you luck, dude, but I don’t envy you. I wish there were more creators even a fraction as driven as you are, particularly for underrepresented genre spaces like “magical creatures living in post-industrial periods.” Bloodlines came out 20 years ago this Halloween season, but nobody has yet to create memorable follow ups. We’ve gotten medieval fantasy crpgs by the thousands, but somehow the post-industrial period has been almost completely ignored.

Maybe punching walls and jumping higher things you mentioned in the video can also be achieved with cyberware if you lack the stat requirements.

You see a brick wall.

>[STR 9] Punch through.
>[Cyberware Arm] Punch through.
>[Cyberware Leg] Kick through.

Will you also think of a cyberware-limiting system like Essence from Shadowrun? I also agree with other posters here that you should maybe move this game from being a straight up porn game, to an actual RPG with porn elements in it, a la CP77.

Yes to both. Regarding a cyberware-limiting system, it will be somewhat similar to Essence, but you can go all the way fullborg. Probably won't happen in the first game, but I will probably eventually allow futurist shit like uploading your brain to a computer and just controlling a bunch of drones, which will be the polar opposite of being a powerful vampire.

The main balancing act of augmentation is the more you have, the less your vampire abilities will work. Becoming a vampire will place a hard limit on augmentation. You can go over this limit, but weird shit starts happening, and not in a good way.

My games have always been the latter. Otherwise I would just make a visual novel.

Ah, but when I heard you say "...making a porn game..." in the video, my mind automatically went to Ren'Py slop, not RPGs that happen to have sex in them. Probably something on my end.

What's with all that glare? Does the player character have astigmatism? Is that an attempt at representation? Because as a member of the astigmatic community I don't really want to be represented.

Jokes aside, I'm really curious what you'll cook up with this. Cobbling together locations from ready-made assets, as flashy and rewarding as it might be, is still a far cry from a functioning game. I hope you'll consider changing the FOV for these presentations, it feels low and gives a weird impression. But at least that Peg Leg Pete walk is gone now, so I guess you're still honing in on the movement and proper perspective.
