Modding in new model PDox games can do insane shit but it also takes quite a bit of work to do and most of the best modders are CK3 guys with little motivation to swap. Vicky3 doesn't lend itself to fantasy mods very much anyways.Modding is as dead as the rest of the community for this game
but but Imperator...Can't fix an unfun gameplay loop tbqh. But it seems they won't?
Imperator had an issue because the Roman sim was trashy and ahistorical and some of the german minors were bland but otherwise 2.0 was amazing.but but Imperator...Can't fix an unfun gameplay loop tbqh. But it seems they won't?
I am still mad they dropped that game. I actually liked it (I also liked the first EU Rome), and they had gotten it to a pretty good place when they decided to drop it.
Imperator's gameplay wasn't nearly as flawed as Victoria 3. I don't think Imperator's gameplay was fundamentally bad at all, it just needed some tweaking and additional content. Victoria 3's primary gameplay loop is managing a construction queue. One single construction queue for your entire empire. I don't think they will ever be able to make that compelling.
Who needs imports when 90% of the world has access to the same resourcesI stand by my statement that the primary problem with imperator is that there aren't enough notable nations around for players to identify with. Every nation in EU4 has a history that people know, but 90% of the tags in imperator are basically made up to fill space on the map. Once you've played some guys in Italy, Carthage, Greeks and the Diadochi you're left with essentially fantasy nations that have even more made up NI bonuses. No matter how much the game was fixed it would still suffer this and have a lack of replayability.
Victora 3 of course lacks replayability in totally different ways. For a game about managing a construction queue you'd think they could at least make it so that your country's resources were important but no you just hit the import tab and continue with the same build.
Eh if Rome was awesome and had a ton of flavor it would be fine and if the internal Roman stuff was cool. Sadly it is not.I stand by my statement that the primary problem with imperator is that there aren't enough notable nations around for players to identify with. Well my question on this would really be; do we really want games to be basically "live service" and always-in-developement or would it be alright to ship a game, leave it in a good place and move on?

How about making a game that works out of the box?
Pirate it like everyone else. The vanilla sucks dick, but there are some good mods for it.What Paradox used to do until EU4 or so. To this day I have never even played EU4 despite liking the EU series and having originally planned on getting it. The reason was because I didn't buy it when it came out, so I decided I would wait until the expansions were out and buy the complete version. Little did I know about their plan to continue releasing DLC for EU4 for the next decade. And now I certainly have no interest in buying EU4 and however many DLCs they have released for it.
The states aren't mutually exclusive either.Paradox games only have two states now: Barely functioning empty shells or DLC bloated incomprehensible leviathans.
Complimentary if anything. The states aren't mutually exclusive either.Paradox games only have two states now: Barely functioning empty shells or DLC bloated incomprehensible leviathans.
I wish they just remade V2, I would be happy if they just did that.I can't believe they finally remade V2
Vic2 is a bit of a shitshow but they probably could have made a very failthful remake and been pretty successful. Just better modding alone would have propelled it to success.I wish they just remade V2, I would be happy if they just did that.I can't believe they finally remade V2
