Oh yeah, are there custom companions planned for Rogue Trader? Please let us form a custom party from the start or close. I don't want to have to spend any more time than I have to with Owlcat's companions, since I have no faith they'll be better this time around.

Like, having your own squad of SoBs, or veteran guardsmen, or mercs are going to be way better than uWu quirky characters.

I looked through Wrathfinder's companion list and threw up in my mouth a bit.
I don't think they are planning that. Would be nice tho, yeah. Mods will fix it? :/

A matter of opinion of course, but I found the companions too tropish and just... weird degenerates in general.

It's saying something when my porn game about hookers has more normal, respectable companions than most of Wrathfinder's roster.

If I had to choose, I like Regill and the dwarf.

Fortunately, Rogue Trader is looking much better, but I have a sinking suspicion that most of the companions are Slaaneshi cultists or something.

Regill and Daeran both relentlessly shit on the travesty that is Wrathfinder's plot and characters, it's no surprise those two are commonly referred as the best companions.
Rogue Trader seems much better than both Kingmaker and Wrath in this regard, the Imperium is full of either feverous psychopaths who luv EMPRAH or cynical scoundrels, no Linzis or Lanns to ruin the fun.

Well not only the cleric is gay, he's also a huge emo manchild. His character arc was atrocious.

Alt-right bro is kind of all over the place (as can be seen by his build if you unlock him) so some of that is understandable, and the emo in question is (primal not feigned) rage so not the usual Pozzed pablum.

Not to mention that the 4 most powerful characters are whymyn.
Arguably the biggest fan favourite companion is an auth-right white male. Figure that one out.
Who? Also define alt-right, since that can be anything from national socialism, neo-marxism all the way to anarcho-capitalism.
I'm assuming the character in question is Regill.

Who, yes is based, but only on the merit of all the other companions being very unlikable.

He's based straight-up.

True authority is based in authorship broadly understood. He's authored the survival of his men (and before that victories in battle) so he's earned the authority he enjoys.

Only downside of Regill is that they didn't bother to work much evil into his character (and Owlcat has shown the capacity to paint some compelling pictures of evil in other characters). He's written far more LN (with a decent amount of LG) than LE.

Authoritarian right, which is pretty different from alt-right

At least in the Western context alt-right is usually pretty close to authoritarian right because the glibertarian right it serves as an alternative to is absurdly anti-authoritarian, to their own detriment.
WTF. Him leaving those priests and others to die if they cannot defend themselves as part of his life philosophy is not evil?! Not to mention torturing his own people for doing the right thing (coming to you for help).

Obv alignment setting intro is obv alignment setting intro. Even there triage DNE evil nor does making strategic use of the letter of the law, as he does throughout his cleverly constructed questline. Hormesis DNE torture and Yaker isn’t some clueless masochist.

Notably missing from Regill’s character/actions is much evidence of any of these:

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_deadly_sins

I'd go so far to say that his story is one of a Fallen* Devil which if you think about it is an interesting twist on the Bleaching.

* - the Spirit of the Laws being as important if not moreso than the Letter

You need to make your next game about a Slaanesh cult cell actually!

It would be both hard to make, if he is not a complete degenerate or at least is able to think like one, and then the game would be hard to put on any storefront.
Remember that things done in "A Serbian Film" are monday for you average Slaaneshi cultist.

Companions so far, are objectively better and in character to their respective factions.
If they would add an interesting chaos companion for chaos run it would be great. Though I doubt they would have the bras balls to make an actual Slaaneshi cultist, because if it would be done right... Most of overly sensitive crowd would lose their shit.
Though the outrage would be a free advertisement.

Yeah, even Black Library writers only very vaguely hints at what Slaaneshi worshipers do behind closed doors. It must be truly disgusting stuff.

But... since GW is getting more and more mainstream by the minute, I'd expect for the god of depravity to lose some of their edge.

Also, I did start a project for a Slaaneshi cult, but it morphed into something Lovecraftian instead. Currently on hold but I might go back to it.

Saw the thread for that game, and how it progressively became less of warhammer and went into something else.
Shame the project went dead, would love to see something akin to a chapter master, though less buggy, and from different faction than SM.

In that shit AoS they wanted to remove she/he/it completely. Or at least I got that feeling after they imprisoned Slaanesh.
But I never bothered to read into lore of that discount warhammer fantasy.
So I assume they will try to either neuter Slaanesh, or remove it completely, I bet IoM will also get more streamlined and less grim dark. To adjust it to "modern sensibilities".
I fucking hate modern society and "wider audience", so fucking much.

Yeah, we decided that we didn't really want to do a parody and go with our own IP instead. Might come back to it one day. A Battle Brothers-type game where you can worship Lovecraftian gods and fuck their high priestesses? :smug:

That's my shit.

By 2028 or sooner we'll have female space marines. Why? I dunno why.

And they won't even introduce them in a reasonable way, like humanity is losing the war on all fronts and needs every warm body they have throw at the meat grinder, so belisarius cawl just makes a ton of them.

Nope, they'll have always been there, and the two missing Primarchs are women, etc.

To be fair, women space marines had been attempted early on, during the Rogue Traders beginnings. They were dropped because they didn't sell.

Sexy space nuns are always better in a niche hobby for boys/weird men.

GW's mistake was making female "space marines" look like the regular Astartes, but with tits. They're not technically space marines though, as IIRC they were just labeled generic adventurers and a quick google search seems to confirm that.
White-Dwarf99-RT601Adventurers-March-1988.jpg

But there are lore reasons, both old and new, because for some reason GW wanted to lock themselves into male only space marines too:

Zygotes.png

Honestly, this entire debate is pants on head retarded and I only bring it up to highlight GW's changing audience as it grows more popular.

They should be thankful to GW because they could've included lore as to why Marines had to be white. Boy, imagine the shitstorm on that one.

This has been talked about for forever. There are no such things as "male hormones" or "tissue types" (whatever that is supposed to mean), so that particular lore is dumb. How I've always seen it is that even if there were technically female space marines they won't look different than the men because of the testosterone flood the process requires. Besides, Sisters of Battle > Spess Mareens.
