That's Emperor who was an idiot. Making sons that were so full of themselves and not expect them to betray you was stupid already.
That's the point though. He wanted some of them to betray him and likewise he wanted them to develop unhealthy rivalries among themselves which would ultimately contribute to their corruption and betrayal.
Yes, it is the point, the point that he was an idiot who ended as a rotting corpse, his dreams taken away and his plans and political decisions being the cause of it. I'm not talking reasons but results.

And there's no way they'll implement psykers with the full perils table(every time you cast a spell, there's like a 1/400 chance that you instantly get swallowed by the warp and die. No fate reroll or burning to prevent it either).
They'll probably make that a customisable option tbh, like they made most things customisable in Kingmaker and Wrath.

He was an idiot for not foreseeing Chaos fuckery messing up his 4D chess moves (e.g. switching the planets that the primarchs landed upon in the case of the Khan and Fulgrim). But eh, hubris is hubris.

I said it before: Marines CAN fuck, they have the working parts. They are probably sterile though because their genetics aren't compatible with baseline humanity. See also: https://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Lukas_(Space_Wolves)
They simply have no sex drive because those instincts are removed by the time they are fully turned into Marines. Older Marines can barely relate to human needs and emotions at all.

And now they shamefacedly covered the pair of the SOB's most prominent assets with that overcoat thing on the art.

Some of the more recent stuff suggests some sort of "recovery process", potentially as part of the more general psychic awakening caused by the great rift... so... maybe "rotting corpse" is not the end state.

half the reason those Primach betrayed him to begin with is simply because Emprah is a retard with 0 social skill. Half the betrayal wouldn't happen if he has communication skill of at least a high schooler

The part this doesn't explain to me is slaaneshi traitor marines. Never seen anything coming even close to suggest sexual activity for them.

I mean... maybe the authors are just careful to stay away from this can of worms.

In that trailer we can see Eldar and Necrons. What do you think, will the game also show us other factions or only focus on 2-3 non Imperium ones ?

The GW copout is that he did want them to betray him though. He only didn't foresee correctly who would be doing the betraying and who would be staying loyal.

It's particularly tragic in the case of Magnus since beyond doing nothing wrong he was the one supposed to be interred upon the Golden Throne while the Emprah continued to lead the Imperium.

Yes. Some of HH books dealing with the Emperor's Children imply sexual activity but that's about it. There's a reason they are more into pain, drugs and loud music than banging though. Those are things they can grasp more easily.

My friend, whatever you would describe as "sexual activity" is way too soft for the average Emperor's Children marine.

There's also a maulerfiend, so there will be Chaos too.

Anyhow, somewhat unrelated, my biggest disappointment with recent GW lore is that they didn't retcon Perty's daemonhood. Would've loved for a proper IW-led RSM faction to be developed. Just like you have your Farsight enclaves vis-a-vis the Tau, you could've had some IW-ruled RSM region of space vis-a-vis the Imperium. You'd still have them collaborating with the Dark Mechanicum (+ other RSM warbands, particularly Night Lords' ones) and enslaving daemons, but without giving a shit about Chaos and equally disdaining CSM and the Imperium.

I dunno man iv played a lot of Warhammer franchise games as well as the tabletop and I can't remember any narratives about townsfolk going about their lives or something similar. It's pretty much all death all the time.

Maybe that stuff is in the books for the hyperdorks to read but I'm not aware of it and I doubt the vast majority of people familiar with 40k are either.

Ignore the queers, they're full of shit.

40k humanity is an amorphous blob little better than the tyranid living in a mega socialist, Ingsoc, war communist hell where you work your quota and then you die.

It is to live in the cruellest, most brutal regime imaginable. For there is no peace amongst the stars, and whatever happens you will not be missed.

As for the old colourful art, Blanche had an appreciation for the medieval illuminations. That's why with the boxarts everything was so resplendent and larger than life. Replace Angels and God with tanks and titans.

Horus Heresy lore has been jumbled all over the place by several different authors, I wouldn't get too caught up in the details of it all, just know that once upon a time there was an Emperor, he fucked up and now everything's shit.

Imagine being such a lorelet. Not every imperial world is ravaged by war nor is every imperial world at peace some shitty hive world.

That's not the point, the point is that everything revolves about humanity's eternal war against the universe. Even if you live on a Paradise World.

A paradise world is a class of planet characterized by its outstanding natural beauty. Its natural conditions are perfect for human habitation. They have little, if any, industry and low populations. Instead of populating or industrializing these rare planets, some are retained in their natural state and used as recreational bases for important Imperial servants. On these planets, warriors may train their bodies and minds for war, studying arcane battle-philosophy and practising martial arts.[1]

On a large scale, sure. But there are plenty of worlds where life goes on as usual, with the Imperium only exercising formal authority over the planet and the latter's leadership only having to send a tithe at most while governing as they please. And these planets in turn can be differentiated by level of technological development, type of governance and so on.

It's almost like this is hinted at somewhere...

In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war. / In the grim darkness of the 41st millennium, there is only war.
