After I skipped the buggy main quest trigger using ToyBox I managed to finish the game at about 80 hours
Can you elaborate on what you did to progress? I believe I'm stuck at the same spot with the cutscene not ending after you interact with the cogitator.

Some people mention here how they got past it, but one of the devs in the thread said it's a known issue that should be fixed tomorrow.

Now the real problem is that I got lvl 16 after that fight which means I need to pick advanced classes and their descriptions are missing (not a bug but bad design) and I can only really see details of first skill you get from each.
I tried to level up Argenta but could not figure out if Bounty Hunter or Arch Militant is better for burst fire ranged character (it was 2 AM so I didn't have time to study it in detail). And then I need to do same for others..

Arch-militant is extremely strong as long as you use a burst weapon, which Argenta should. While the class pretends to be a melee/range mix you can perfectly use it solely for ranged combats as alternating between single and burst does increase versatilty. Get Wild fire and reckless rush.

Get Cassia to be a tactician, it is great imho, she can get you extra turns and buffs.

I made Pasqal an Assassin which is kind of ass, maybe I don't get the class. Grand Strategist has some pretty strong buffs, that cost nothing (unless you want to make them stronger) to create however those buffs are static on the combat map meaning you hamper your own movement. Vanguard is beefy af but my abelard lacks damage at this point (beginning chapter 3) compared to others.

Idira is a bounty hunter, with shared spoils she can help you get buffs on kills for other characters (costs nothing) but as I use her as a Buffer/debuffer it hardly comes into play.

So my Party is: main Soldier/Achrmilitant you can probably just substitute Agenta, I recommend getting a heavy bolter + Specialisations for her the drusian shop one is not heretic, Navigator/officer/tactician (Cassia great buffs and deals good damage to boot), Abelard Warrior/Vanguard, Merc Officier/Grandstrategist, Idira operative/bounty hunter and Pasqal Operative/Assassin.

Both Grand strategist and bounty hunter add a lot of busy work for combat, btw. it's three skills per character that you use for free every combat.

My main is Operative Sniper he usually stands far behind and kills dangerous targets that need to die first. Sounds like doing that while giving buffs to others could work.
My ideal party will be SM companion (do not even know what class he is), Abelard or Henrix as main tank (I guess I can go Vanguard for both if that is tank advanced class), Pasqal melee as secondary tank and damage dealer (not sure what options are for him, I guess advanced class that will give him more damage), Argenta will stay as bolter burst fire specialist (I took that rapid shot and upgrade that removes damage penalty) so I guess I will take ArchMilitant if you say that one is good and finally Cassie as buffer/debuffer.

No, sorry if I made this unclear:

The bounty hunter designates targest that if he kills them he get's buffs depending on the enemies strength.

I think it's Temporary hitpoints for chaff and more and more AP for higher tier enemies.
The thing is that i never use Idira for combat as the buffs are too important. With "shared spoils" a talent, other characters killing these enemies still get half the benefits.

I guess Bounty hunter might work for your main with a sniper due to high single target damage, it's just that both Pasqal and Idira who have these two roles (assassin and Bounty hunter) fail in their respective classes, it was not a good choice, not that i know what better to do with Idira, being a psyker is akin to a class of it's own.

If you have a more agile Pasqal Assassin might actuall work for him, it's melee focused and mobile (getting free movement and bonus damage through so called openings) mine is a toughness melta build though, so i hardly profit from that. I had the same issues figuring out what to with the classes as you.

I'm in chapter 3 now but have not yet encountered the SM companion. I finished basically all exploration and sidecontent (unless bugs hampered me) and I am playing 72 hours now. Jesus.

My Pasqal is a mix of melee and ranged (got him a Plasma Rifle and that talent that reduces AP costs with plasma weapons as well as that operative ability that gives him +15 to BS and Perception while in cover) but as for stats I only buffed Weapon skill, Strength and Toughness and Int for him. My plan is now to get his Strength to 45 so I can give him Heavy armor. His party buffs are too good not to use him.
His WS is worse than Henrix or Abelard but once he starts attacking in melee he does more damage with that one attack.

Yeah then go Vanguard would be my suggestion, not Assassin with him. There is a cool skill in the Assassin skill trees that let's you move depending on you agility for example. It's amazing to see him "shadow step" for exactly *1* square due to low agility, don't be stupid like me.

In actuality though, if you like the base class the character performs well enough and profit's from further levelling. It's not that much of big deal if you select the wrong class even though it will hamper you to some extent for sure.

EDIT: nvm he can't be a vanguard. hrm bounty hunter and Grand strategist, now i remember my troubles.

Also started on Daring difficulty, is that for pussies, and should I up it to Hard?
I would not recommend that, an officer does not really fight you also get 2 companions who are officers. I mean officers are great but as a main? meh.

I'm still waiting for the Owlcat mandatory 3 monthes of patches before seriouly diving in,
but I'm torn between Ministorum Priest Officer and Commisar Officer.
What would be closer to "battle cleric" arch-type?

Well one of them actually looks like part of the clergy, the Ministorum Priest.

Officers are not combat oriented at all you will not battle much at all so that does not sound like much of a combat cleric. My Grandstrategist/officers simply never attacks.

A soldier with a hand flamer and a melee weapon sounds fun and you could continue down the Vanguard (tank) or Assassin (damage) route. Soldier + Master tactician makes you a strong combatant with buffs, you would need to skill a bit wierd though if you intend to go melee.

Operative is the buffer of the three, makes you lean heavier in the cleric aspect but they are somewhat lacking in combat potenial, I guess going to assassin from there alleviates that.

By the way, does the game have time limits ? I am in chapter 2 and have no idea where the fucking planets are lol.
The only timed repercussion was a telegraphed Dark Eldar attack on a trading Vessel, if you keep your very limited Navigator points (or whatever they are called) in reserve (3 at least) you can instantly jump to the battle though.

Just for reference, I was close to the battle anyways but 2 Jumps was already to long for the merchant ship not to be destroyed, I can't remember if you are getting anything out of rescuing them though.

Damn. I've started playing this in chunks of hours. There are so many dialogue bosses that I have 2hr sessions where I've only talked to people. Minor characters should have been voiced. Feels like a huge missed opportunity.

Also, why did splitting the thread unwatch me from this one. >(

I mean the main missions or such. Does it affect the state of planets in chapter two if i fuck around and just explore?

No, I don't think so.

I have explored every sector in chapter two and build the colonies to their max (as much as that is possible at this point)

Some Cassia action in chapter 4
around 17k single target dmg or 12k aoe (without officer ulti move extra AP nonsense)
just need officer ulti move which now requires only 1 - 3 spells to proc so literally every fight's first turn
300+ dodge/wounds with just 2 navigator talents, balanced game

I've found this list of abilities: https://roguetrader.wiki.fextralife.com/Abilities
I do not know how accurate it is but from that only good one for my Pasqal is Bounty Hunter. It also seems best for ranged Pasqal as well.
I do not understand what is the deal with Assassin, seems pretty bad.

The exploration and space stuff is quite well done. Not too complicated, but there are enough little rewards for exploration to keep it more-ish. Space combat's pretty good too - it seems to be mostly about positioning, IOW it's age of sail type combat on a flat plane, but that's all you need really, and it seems a bit more polished and more integratd than either the kingdom management or crusade management were with the previous two games. You're still basically exploring maps, but it feels intrinsically more logical to be doing it in space in a gigantic spaceship via a view screen, since there's more of a homely correspondence between the videogame medium and looking at screens to scan things, tracking progress on screens, etc.

I'm nearly at the end of Janus (just got to confront the governor with what I've discovered). The [strikethrough]elves[/strikethrough] Aedari are well done in the lore, maybe the best elves ever lol, and in context they genuinely feel like xenos. Their art design is nicely different and alien-feeling too (not tree houses or art nouveau sylization like normal elves lol). (And Yrliet is a beast. Maybe with her on board as a sniper I can wean Argenta off her sniper addiction and get her built around the bolter like she should be.)

It was all fun and games playing to Dogmatism at the beginning, but as the problems get weightier and as I've been encountering more serious condundrums like the Janus one, my old habit of wanting everyone to just get along, live and let live, etc., is creeping back - and it's encouraged by the way the problems are presented, with Chaos and its machinations being a far bigger threat than the Aedari or whatever they're called. I wonder if I'm tipping over into heresy, but after all the Grand Inquisitor in his special letter to me said they'd overlook smaller irregularties, and I guess letting the Aedari and humans live in segregated peace on Janus, so long as the spice keeps flowing, makes sense.

It's such a fantastic mish-mash of lore for a virtual world to play in though - s-f, magic, eldritch Lovecraftian star gods, proper aliens of several very different kinds, and humanity trying to carve out a niche of survival in a mad universe, with its ridiculous but somehow uber-cool mixture of Gothic Christianity, 18th century finery and social organization, and a hint of Third Reich sensibility, with everything turned up to 9000.

:hmmm:

Fuck the void travel is total garbage. Spend an hour trying to go to an unexplored system, but between it there is a few stops and on every fucking jump i get called in to the bridge to lsiten to some irrelevant garbage. Ohhh captain we have a fucked up level on the other end of the map,go push a button, ohhh captain let me tell you about the world, ohhh captain i have dead pigeons in me room lets talk. And all that ends up in endless walls of shitty text and a lot of loading screens.
